Well to be fair our National Anthem wasn't actually written to be a song. Its based off of a Poem by Francis Scott Key, and there's actually a lot more to the Poem and he gets very anti-british.

So ...because it's based off a poem they forget it....more easily?
I don't get it.
THOUGH! Upon learning this tid bit of new trivia, I wouldn't mind a synopsis of said poem in it's entirety.

It is also set to the music from a drinking song, but unlike Waltzing Matilda is not a drinking song.

The Star Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key
Oh! say can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming; Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there; Oh, say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? <(This is where the song cuts off)>
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep, Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze o'er the towering steep As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam; Its full glory reflected now shines on the stream; 'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh! long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is the band who so vauntingly swore, 'Mid the havoc of war and the battle's confusion, A home and a country they'd leave us no more? Their blood hath washed out their foul footsteps' pollution; No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave, And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved home and the war's desolation; Blessed with victory and peace, may the Heaven-rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Then conquer we must, for our cause it is just, And this be our motto, "In God is our trust": And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Woah! Gets a little Grisly there in the other parts hunh?
AND AWKWARD NEWS!
What originally I thought was a ringworm on the back of my head (gee thanks my dear sister who initially contracted and gave them to me)
has not gone away with the usual anti-fungal cream treatment, so my mom dabbed it with tee tree oil (we forgot to dilute it though) and it feels like the back of my head (where we put it) is CRAWLING. And mom doesn't think it's ringworm, she thinks it's a hot spot or something cause my hair is so thick and I wash it at night so my skin is damp for too long.
I WANNA SCRATCH IT SO BAD scream gonk crying
If this stuff doesn't work I'm gonna see the doc.

but it died a horrible burning death! biggrin , and was in the end just a hot spot type thing, I just needed to dry my hair a little more at night before I slept on it. Plus I kept at the tea tree oil, that stuff is good for almost anything, and it stopped making it feel weird after a day or so.
It's strong stuff though, can really clear your sinuses.

Someone's probably allergic to everything ^.^;; Odd how she found that one out though~.
Hopefully it's only a mild allergy, that stuff can be a little hard to wash off.

Yeah, and there are times when he brings roses home and its like "Why did he do that? The gesture is nice, but she can't really enjoy them"
