Zykariel was hanging on every word, listening and committing the story to memory so he could tell Malikhai how brave his dad had been later. Before he was even born? Wow that was a long time ago. He listened and provided sound effects when he felt necessary to enhance the story of course. Proper sounds of intrigue and suspense, a gasp here and a shake of his head there while his gaze never left his father's.
A gasp when his tummy got poked and his eyes got progressively wider as he watched the finger go all the way up to his chin. That was a big slice. "Wow...you were really brave Daddy. I hope I can be just as brave as you someday..." Yes that was wonder on his little boy face. His dad had faced a huge flying dragon like creature, almost been eaten, gotten pinned and cut himself out. "How come Zara and Miss Piper didn't help you? Were they being attacked too?"

"Oh I have no doubt you will be, braver in fact." Yes, his son would be braver than he would ever be. Sevilin could face any beast in the world, but still to this day he retained that discomfort around female drow, perhaps a hate for women in general, though it had become mild to a degree. His own son, would never have to know that fear though.
"Zahara was fighting with the jerheg before, it was trying to eat her too. When I used runes to distract it from her, she had to fend off some of the soulless that wanted to get her. And Piper was helping Malik. Though Malik helped a little with his necromancy to make it easier for me to get out. It was a big battle that was very tiring. But we all came out victorious in the end there." Well...that part of the end.

Arthur felt everything around him slow down as he made his way towards Malik, his katana moving towards Malik's own blade hoping that he could knock it out of the drow hands and finally give him the blow he deserves. But something felt wrong about this, it seemed that Malik was waiting for his attack like he did when they began the battle, was he going to quickly move out of the way to strike him in the side or something? His answer came of course just when the blades were going to collide and set off and nice blast of air followed by the infamous ringing noise heard when their sword came together, but instead of that happening Arthur hit nothing, that's right he hit nothing at all it seemed that Malik just disappeared...
Arthur blinked once and clued in on what’s going on and started to turn his head around to see if what he thought was true but instead of seeing he felt something hit him. That's when things literary paused for a moment for Arthur, he was frozen with his eye wide as it could be and he felt Malvolence inside his body, the mythril blade was placed inside his stomach area as if it fit perfectly. Then in a blink of an eye everything started up again, a sharp pain over took the young elf's body and when Malvolence was taken out Arthur just collapsed on the ground with no hesitation at all. As Arthur laid there with his body twitching to the pain and his mouth seeming to be gasping for air his spirit was the only part of him that was not willing to give up the battle. He was so determined to fight that the arm that wasn't pinned underneath his body was trying to reach for his sword which had fallen away from him after he was stabbed. "I won't...I can't...loose..." He managed to gasp out as he started to slowly move in the dirt so he could grab his weapon.

A little gasp from him and he closed his fingers up so that he was actually covering his eyes now when Malik's blade found it's way into Arthur. OKay, no more looking, didn't want to watch. Sure, he played with swords with Zykariel but they never 'stabbed' each other. He wasn't sure how he felt about this anymore. Was daddy trying to kill Arthur? Or had Arthur been trying to kill daddy too? Oh that was all confusing. After all, it all seemed a bit intense to be training, but maybe this was how grown ups did it. Hm, he didn't know if he wanted to train when he was a grown up if it meant getting stabbed.

Malik walked over and kicked the blade away.
"you lost, Arthur. When will you finally learn."
Malik leaned over and touched the bladewound, before whistling to a cleric.
"fix him up."
Leaning down while the cleric did her work.
"you can't win a fight on your swordsmanship alone. Especially when you know that your enemy has a much wider arsenal of attacks. using your wind to buffer the blades to make it harder to defend was a good start, but you have to be able to draw on all your skills. you strength and swordmanship has reach a critical point. your starting to be more inventive and innovative. that's good. but you need much more work yet."
Before getting himself up and walking over to his son, picking him up off the wall.
"You alright? that was kinda fun to watch, wasn't it?"
Hey he knew his son had never experienced something like that before.

Arthur grunted lightly as he tried his best to reach his sword, but of course Malik just had to come over and kick it away, saying that he lost and whatnot; though he did feel the drow touch his wound a little to see how bad it was and Arthur hissed a little in pain then the drow fingers examined his wound. But thank the gods that the cleric was around to go about her work in healing him, as she did her work Malik decided it would be best to give him a little speech on his performance today and Arthur hated to admit it but the drow was right about what he was doing. So that was the end of their fight, for now, all Arthur could do for the time being was lie there as the cleric did her work on his body so he could be in perfect condition for tomorrow.

Zykariel listend to his father as he continued and nodded. "That sounds like Zara but at least it didn't get to eat either one of you 'cause then I might not be here no mores." showing his limited knowledge on how he had come to be. He paused for a moment then grinned. "Miss Piper always teamwork gets things done faster but that's usually when she wants us to clean up the nursery or something like that. I didn't think she actually meant what she said but I guess so, huh?" He leaned back against his father's chest adn sighed. "How long do you think Malikhai's gonna be?"

And silver eyes peeked through his fingers at his father picked him up. What was it about hiding behind your hands that made it better, even if he was looking through them? He didn't know, but it sure did help. "You're not supposed to hurt each other." Or at least that's what he though, after all when him and Zykariel played like that, they weren't allowed to hurt each other. And then a shake of his head. "Not in the end." Sure it had started out fun, and then with blood it got bad. After all, he was still a toddler and blood wasn't his thing at all at this age. A bloody scraped knee brought the practical end of the world.
"Right...and then you wouldn't be here and that would just be sad wouldn't it? There would be no one to eat all the cookies." But a nod. "When you're in a battle, it's good to have someone watch your back for you so you can concentrate on what you're doing." Funny how thoughts changed, or maybe he was just bringing his son up to be more aware of things than a secluded loner. Flipping through some more pages for the boy as he laid there, he had those signs of boredom about him. "I'm sure he won't be too long." After all, Malik could only do but so much down there with his son with him.
Piper looked up from indeed throwing pieces of food to the two coq dragons at that tingly feeling that zinged through her bond to her son. Someone wasn't the happiest child in the world. Though she could take a guess or two why and chose to merely not interfere this time. Sure, a year or two earlier she would be there in a flash but she had to let these things happen and also had to let Malik explain things.Hm, still had to tell the dear husband that they had both boys tonight.

"Malikhai could eat the cookies but they wouldn't be gone nearly as fast. Khai might think that was a good thing.." he paused for a moment thinking that one over and then grinned. "But there would be no one to play pirates with him. Somebody's gotta be the Right Wing to his Left." An emphatic nod of his head before looking back down at the book.
Excitement about it had waned and he was half heartedly flipping through the pages, nothing else really to do. "I hope he's not too much longer, we won't get much time to play if he is." He turned and looked at his father. "You're gonna keep Zara company tonight right?" A nibble on his bottom lip as though he wasn't sure he should stay.

Well it took the cleric awhile but when she was finished Arthur felt as good as new, when he got up he stretched a little bit to move his back muscles a little bit before wandering over to where Malik kicked his katana to and he picked it up and placed it back in it's scabbard. Even though he had lost that battle Arthur felt he had gotten way farther than he did the last time he fought Malik, so he felt somewhat good about himself for now. Looking over towards the drow he saw the elf talking to his son, seems like a father and son moment so it would be best to leave them alone. So without a single word Arthur started to walk to the arena doors, he wanted to go home and get some rest for tomorrow.

"well. when you get older, sometimes the only way to get someone to try thier hardest is to add danger to it. knowing if you don't do your best, you get hurt, make them try harder. and it also makes sure you remember when you make mistakes, to correct them."
Malik nodded lightly.
"like..if you wacked Zykariel in the arm everytime he didn't block your wooden sword, he'd learn to do that, wouldn't he? though I will say it's a bit more...intense, when using real blades. But it's something that you'll learn when you get older. I thought you just might enjoy seeing your old man show some skill."

"I think he would get sick if he ate that many cookies, Zykariel. And you can't have a pair of wings with just one, that's absolutely right." Ah yes, the easy to tell signs of boredom. Picking the child up from his lap he set him to the floor, leaning his elbows on his knees, thus leaned down to his level some. "You didn't bring your pirate stuff back with you, now did you?" That should redirect thought for a moment.
Then a nod. "I promise I will keep Zahara company tonight so neither I nor her will be lonely. And Nym too, that is if he doesn't want your bed all to himself, you know how much of a bed hog he can be."
Okay a little explaination from dear old dad got him to drop his hands and listen to what he was being told. Explaination always made it better. At least to him it did. Though then a little grin and he wrinkled his nose. "He'd hit me back." And then followed by that skeptical look, much like the one Malik had gotten earlier when he spoke of Malvolence and it's biting habit. "I don't want to get stabbed." He liked his blood inside of him personally. So then, settling easier, merely taking to holding to Malik's shirt in common manner. "But you're okay, right?" Because well, daddy had gotten hit rather hard. It would not be good if he was hurt. "It was neat, but my eyes couldn't keep up, it was too fast."

He blinked and thought about it for a moment. "No...I guess I forgot..." Shaking his head. "Zara distracted me when she made me get my cloak and stuff. I knew cloaks were bad." Crossing his arms he sighed. "Now we can't play pirates 'cause I don't have my stuff. Maybe Ashlyn will want to play dragons again and Keely can be our damsel." He plopped down on the carpet and began picking at the carpet in typical bored fashion then leaned back against the much longer legs behind him.
"I'm glad you'll keep her company. She gets lonely sometimes." How did he know that? Well, she'd told him. Okay, not technically but he'd overheard her say it to Faete, and she never lied to Faete. "Are you gonna do grown up stuff in your room all night like the pirate captain and wench?"

A little runic gesture and he poked the box on the shoulder before dangling pirate garb in front of him, hat and all. "Good thing I don't forget, huh?" Giving him a smile as he waited for him to take the articles. His free hand messing with the boy's hair. It did this odd little stick up thing in that back that never smoothed down at all.
"Does she now? Well, everyone gets lonely I suppose. And it's never fun at all, now is it?" Though a raise of an eyebrow at the child on his question, patting him on the head. "Sure, we're going to play cards all night and drink rum." That wasn't how the book had put it or what it was at all, but he wasn't going to tell the child any different.

"that also comes with time, and learning. Things I'll teach you as you get older, and things you'll learn on your own. nad yes, I'm alright, no problems at all. it'll take more than that to hurt your old man."
poking him in teh tummy a bit, and carrying him back upstiars and to the nursery, and setting the chest down as well as putting his son down. if you want to go play, go right on ahead now.
