Yugi had led Khalid in and quickly located Kawi and Kai. Khalid's violet eyes were cold and narrowed; when Ryou wasn't around, his cold, emotionless side came out again. "We forgot the boy. So sorry he can't stay." Khalid said, moving towards the two. He hoped Kai wouldn't put up a fuss about being held by him. He would probably have to go fetch Ryou or have Yugi or Kawi carry him out to the car.

Seeing khalid kai started crying agian clinging tightly to kawi "there there kai" kawi said. She then glared to khalid "I don't think he is safe with you. He Will be staying here" Kawi said.

Khalid's lips were compressed in a tight line. He didn't glare at Kawi, but he did feel a great wave of hatred rise in him. "Kai will be perfectly safe with his father." He said stiffly, before turning and leaving the apartment. He came back soon, with Ryou in tow. It really was Ryou this time; he had convinced Bakura to switch control of the body.
Ryou felt terrible, but didn't fight back as Khalid practically dragged him into the apartment. His husband had told him briefly what was going on. "Kawi..." He said in a soft voice. "Kai really needs to come home. I appreciate you watching him, I really do, but... We can drop him off with you some other time."
"No." Khalid said bluntly, one hand resting on Ryou's shoulder. He squeezed sharply, as a warning to Ryou not to speak up. "That won't be necessary. Not anymore. Just give Ryou the kid, Kawi."

"No" kawi said as kai squirmed closer to kawi. "He isent safe at all. He's staying here."

Khalid tensed and Ryou knew he was about to get angry. He quickly whirled around. "Khalid, he's still nervous about what you had done. It must have been traumatizing. It'll be okay if he stays here for the night-- until things get settled down more." He nervously reached up and brushed some hair from Khalid's eyes. Khalid glared down at Ryou now. Ryou dropped his voice down to a whisper as he pleaded with the man. "Please, Khalid... it'll be fine, just let's go..."
Khalid let his anger get the better of him, for a moment. He lifted one hand, pressing his palm against Ryou's forehead. Ryou seemed to realize what was coming and closed his eyes in silent submission. This was the same motion Khalid had done when he attacked Ember before, when he had almost killed her. Khalid was struggling with his consciousness as he tried to decide whether or not to end his husband's life right there-- or just hurt him a little.

"alright you can go now!" kawi said. With her free had she shoved khalid out of the hallway.

Khalid knocked Kawi's hand aside. "I don't think you understand, girl. You have no right to keep Kai. Ryou," He suddenly turned towards his spouse. "I'm going out to the car. Don't even bother coming unless you have Kai." He turned and strode briskly out of the apartment.
Ryou rubbed his forehead, and looked towards Kawi, then Yugi. He didn't want to be the villian. "Kawi..." He couldn't bring his voice up any higher than a whisper. "Please give Kai to me. I promise nothing is going to happen. Khalid wasn't himself when he hurt Ember, I swear he's fine now."

"No he's not!" kawi said. "I've seen whats he's like! And what if he sudenly desides he wants to hurt kai agian? You wont stand up to him!" Kawi said. "He isent safe there. Neither of you can properly look after a child."

"We were fine before!" Ryou said, in a sudden fury. His cheeks flushed with his anger. "He hadn't suddenly decided to hurt Kai before. It isn't his fault when he becomes like that. You can't make judgements like that. You don't know him nearly as much as I do. I can trust him."
"Ryou..." Yugi put a hand on his friend's shoulder. "It really would be better if you left him with us. I know things are really stressed with you and Khalid right now. You probably have more important things to worry about and it'd be better if you didn't have to watch out for a kid. Things will be safer here than there." Ryou clenched his hands into fists and then punched Yugi across the face, trembling in rage.

"Ryou!" Kawi said and quickly checked on yugi. Kai had started crying loudly.

Yugi had a split lip, but was otherwise fine. He took in a breath as he looked up to Ryou. When he spoke, his voice was low and dangerous, much like his yami's. "I think it would be best if you just left now, Ryou."
"Yes..." Ryou said absently, taking a step away from Yugi. "Yes, it would. Excuse me." He turned towards the front door and, after hesitating, rushed out. Khalid hadn't entered the car, but was instead leaning against it's side. His eyes narrowed as he saw Ryou leave alone.
"Ryou..." Khalid called out, glaring at his husband coldly. "You have five minutes to get out of my sight. If you even take so much as one more step towards me, I will kill you and make sure you get to stay with Vadin." Ryou froze, struggled to control his breathing, and quickly turned to the side and ran. He didn't know where he planned on going, he just couldn't handle being here any more.

After ryou ran for a while he would run right into sombody else who was running...Kira. When they ran into eachother kira stumbled "Crap!" kira said. grabbing ryou by the hand she continued to run.

"Ki--" Ryou had hardly been able to get much more than that out. He didn't bother trying to ask where she was going; his squeezed her hand briefly as they ran along.

Kira ran and ran intill they ended up deep in a park. Kira colapsed under a tree breathing deeply.

Ryou sank down to the ground, gasping for breath. "Ki... Kira..." He managed to get out, and then coughed, catching his breath. "You're okay? What were you running from?" It was a stupid question; he thought he had a pretty good idea of the answer.
