"You have to keep reading titles." Merely being the surpervisor and only intending to provide help if it was asked for right now, as he took to putting away what his son had pulled out. "And if you can't find any named specifically to them, then you think about the things that pirates are associated with. Like ships, and water, and treasure, and then you look under those to see if there's anything there on them. Understand?" More or less teaching the boy to browse.
Of course he never stayed in his seat for long and that meant that he was worked his way to the edge wall of the arena, little hands holding onto it as he peered over the low wall and watched what was going on in the arena. Though his young eyes were having some trouble keeping up with precise moves. Let's stand on our toes some to get a better look.
Piper scanned over the letter in hand, reading the flowing elvish script rather quickly as she more or less wandered around the house. At some point, Circa and Eket had taken to following her around. They did that these days, randomly followed people around, most likely looking for handouts.

Well Arthur was doing pretty good while keeping Malik on defense, he was able to keep the drow there a lot longer than he did the last time he fought him and now he had the upper had. But as he fought the blue skin drow he was learning too, and one thing he learned was when fighting with Malik forget attacking the feet, it's more of a waste of time than a good way to hit him since the man kept on moving around his attacks. But at one point they were both locked together when both their blades connected again, and in that moment Malik switched his sword between hands and soon enough his fist connected with Arthur's face then his elbow soon followed afterwards, hey the young elf couldn't complain much hand to hand combat went well with sword fighting if the person knew what they were doing; and Malik did his training with Malvolence and was excellent, he was very smooth with his attacks, if his blade didn't cut flesh his fist struck it instead then back to the same pattern all over again.
Arthur was getting frustrated a little but he kept on reminding himself that he wanted to get even with Malik with what had happened to him three years ago with Laudi, and just thinking her name got him mad and the more he got mad the harder he pushed back. So when Malik blocked his attack again and went for the smack to the face Arthur quickly tilted his head to the side and raised his arm to block the attack, then in a split second Arthur ducked down and started to spin like a top, when he fully turned around he brought his blade up quickly and caught Malik's side leaving a nice wound there before he sprang up and start to go on the offensive again, and this time his attack was more focused on Malik's upper body but paid a little more attention to his arms and sides.

"That's a lot of titles..." He kept scanning over them, taking a little while with a few of the harder ones like 'A Complete Guide of the Elven Pantheon' and 'Pregnancy the Elven Way' but there was nothing specifically denoted to pirates. At least not anything aside from the other book they'd found earlier. But Daddy had taken it from them. Zykariel had seen where he put it though so maybe he and Khai could come back and get it letter. Khai's parents hadn't told him he couldn't read it...
But he kept looking until he had gone all the way through the p's and then moved to the t's for treasure, l's for loot, s's for ships, and w's for wenches. There were a few books under 'S' that he thought looked like they might do it, so he pulled them down, then sat on the chair and started flipping through them. Three of them he tossed away quickly since they had nothing whatsoever to do with pirates but the last one he held onto. There were a few pictures in there of a pirate flag and some brief mention of pirates throughout. It wasn't as good as the first one, but it would do in a pinch.
Setting that one aside, he picked up the other three and carefully put them back onto the shelf, then resumed his search. There was a book all about treasure hunting that had some really cool pictures that he set aside too and then another about explorers. "Ooh Daddy, look at this one. What's a..." he tilted his head and studied the word then held up the book. The title read 'Bestiary, Underdark, Volume III "What's this?"

Walking over to his son, he watched as he systematically went through things until he found something that would work for him and then like a good little elf, went about putting back what wasn't going to cut it. Good...Sevilin couldn't stand being surrounded by mess anyway. But then he looked when he was asked about one book in particular. Reaching to the shelf he pulled it off then looped his other arm around his son's middle, picking up up and tucking him under his arm like he was carrying fire wood.
Making thier way back to the couch he sat down and sat Zykariel back on his knee, opening the book and propping up some with his hand. "This is a bestiary, a list of animals if you will. Pictures and all. Almost like a field guide."

the gash in his side got a hiss, and it was followed quite in return by Malvolence shearing through his offense with brute force and leaving a nasty deep tear in Arthur's left shoulder. Malik followed that up with a boot to the midsection, with enough force to probably break one of the practiceboards that were commonly found here.
"Not bad. But not good enough yet.."
And he came at him hard, that blade cutting air and making a ringing tone with the force, though he lost no agility with how the blade moved.

Zykariel laughed and kicked half heartedly protesting the position he was in but soon enough he was out and it was 'story time.' More like teaching time. But he was curious so he peered down at the book and scanned the list of monsters and creatures and whatnot listed there. "Lots of pictures." He started flipping pages studying all kinds of creatures. The paragraphs next to them listed the common locations they could be found, usual shape, size, and color, medicinal uses of skin or blood and even a few spells commonly associated with various body parts.
"Have you ever seen all of these?" He pointed to one in particular, a jerheg. That looked rather interesting now didn't it? "They all live in the Underdark?" There were slimy creatures that lived in the lakes, flying creatures that occupied areas that had been mighty structures and were now nothing more than ruins. "What is it again? A bes...?" He had trouble with words like that, especially when they were only said one time so he often asked for new words to be repeated.

Arthur thought he did pretty good when he was able to wound Malik and now being on the defensive he should be able to beat the drow for a change and finally be able to get his payback once and for all. Though right after he started his attack he noticed a sudden shift in the drow and before he could do anything he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder which caused him to gasp out in pain before he got the wind knocked out of him when Malik shoved his boot into his mid section. there was a slight pause in the battle but Arthur was able to catch his breath quickly before Malik continued with his attack and this time the younger elf was really having a harder time keeping up, each time he blocked he was pushed back harder and harder. No! I can not let him beat me! Not again! Arthur let out a loud growl as his blade was suddenly charged with wind magic to counteract Malik's blade when it cut it air, so each time the blades got close to hitting each other it was actually the air that struck first before the blades finally connected. With each blow or block Arthur got more angry, but he had to keep himself in check because if he lost it right now he would go out of control and Malik would be able to beat him. So when Malik finally did a thrust Arthur quickly ducked again, but instead of tripping him the surface elf dove forwards and switched his katana from his right hand to his left, turning it upside down in the process and when he got close enough he jabbed his handle into the wound he made earlier and gave it a sharp twist. A few seconds later Arthur brought his free hand forward and gave Malik and nice uppercut to the face before switching his katana between his hands again and bring it down to stab him in the shoulder like the drow did to him.

His eyes gazed over to Meilikki as he nodded his head to say hello but the minute he heard the terms blood and infusion his eyes widened. "Bll..blood infusion...??!" He stumbled upon his words as he backed up a bit and his muscles tensed up.
Rusty cleared his throat a little and tried to regain his cool. "I don't need a blood infusion. I'll be fine. All I really need is a few glasses of water and lots of rest." He just hoped that everyone would not question his first reaction and that he wouldn't have to tell them that he was afraid of certain sharp pointed objects.

Malikhai merely watched with big silvery wide eyes as he caught some movements from the two. And a little gasp as well as plopping his hands over his face, though splaying his fingers and watching through them. And he was pretty much sitting on that wall by this point, making sure that he did have the best vantage point, even if he was looking through his fingers.
A fond smile, petting at his son's hair lightly as the child took to flipping through pages in that entranced manner of new discovery. "I haven't seen all of them, but I have seen a lot of them." At tap at the page that his son pointed to and he gave a chuckle. "I've fought one of these before, it tried to eat me and then it tried to crush me."
Then a nod. "Yes, they all live or have lived in the Underdark." A point to the III on the spine. "And this is the third book in the series, there's a lot more than just these." Ruffling his son's hair lightly. "Bestiary."

Hmm. Malik found himself on his back rubbing his jaw lightly and letting that blade come down. wind buffering was a new trick. good.the blade came down, sheared through his clothign when Malik scooting himself just a tad bit down. still left a nice gash in his shoulder, but his hand let go of Malvolence, adn grabbed arthur's wrist with that typical wicked drow grin. Arthur probably knew what was coming then. His hand flashed crimson, and delivered unto Arthur the Harm Touch...combined with another hard boot up and into the gut. Hopefully that woudl get Arthur not only away from him, but leave him without his sword, too.
Onyx reguarded Rusty a moment, before walking over and picking him up bodily, and marching him over to the area that Meilikki commonly performed basic medical procedures.
"My brother says you need a blood infusion, your going to get a blood infusion. That's all there is to it, he's a doctor, you are not."
Yeah, Onyx also lacked the people skills of his twin.

"Bestiary..." A pause. "Bestiary." Another pause. "Bestiary! I got it!" Yes he was rather overjoyed at that now wasn't he?
"That's a lot of creatures." He kept scanning over the pages, stopping when his father pointed to the same one he had. "You fought one of those?!" That got Sevilin a huge wide-eyed look and then his eyes sparkled. He sensed a story here. "Tell me about it." Then his eyes got even wider and his voice dropped to a whisper. He was entranced. "What did you do?"

Arthur grunted lightly when he finally was able to shoved his sword down all the way, the only problem was that Malik moved and the blade only grazed his shoulder, but still a wound was a wound and what his katana left on the drow looked pretty good. Though as he started to pulled out his sword from the ground Arthur felt some fingers grab his wrist, when he looked down at Malik he saw that same grin he always feared and knew exactly what was coming next so he tried to prepare himself fast enough to...suddenly a large yell could now be heard echoing through the arena as Malik delivered his Harm touch unto Arthur, though instead of actually letting go of his sword his reflexes took control and made his fingers wrap tighter around the handle; the elf's grip was so tight that the whole blade was shaking, but as the pain coursed through his body he was able to pull the blade right from the ground and he stared at Malik with a hard glare in his eye and he delivered another hard punch to drow face. But since he didn't want to stay and receive another Harm Touch he just simply rolled off to the right for a moment and got back on his feet. His body was still reeling from the pain he received but his hand kept a good grip on his weapon; he was not going to give up. "Come on Malik...let's finish this." He said and with another yell he ran at the drow again, this time his blade was poised to strike hard against Malvolence as his wind magic wrapped itself tightly around the mythril blade.

One of those 'good job' pats on the back for Zykariel before he latched right on to the information that he had been given and eagerly wanted to know more about that had happened. Hm, there was a memory to drag up now wasn't it? "It was a few years ago before you were even born, maybe four or five. There was this nasty creature called the Lich who was causing all sorts of problems. So me, your mother, Malik, Piper, and a little rank marched out to the lich's lands."
Pausing a moment for suspense reasons. "Well, after some trouble we finally made our way in past the walls, but then we were attacked but the lich's own army. Lot's of soulless being and creaures of all kinds, the Jerheg among them. He took one look at me and decided that I'd make a pretty fine snack, so it started swooping at me, trying to get me with it's fangs or it's poisonous talons. I had to think quick to keep from being eaten up."
Amazing how he could turn the stategy and rather unsavory memory into a child fit story of adventure. So I stood up really tall so it would see me, pole arm in hand, and I let it swoop right at me, stayed brave and didn't move. When it came at me, I dropped and rolled forward, thrusting my pole arm up right into it's tummy."
A poke at his son's belly at that one, before running his finger up from his stomach to under his chin in gesture of how things happened. "He kept flying and got up all the way from here to here and then he turned and made a final swoop, falling out of the air and right on top of me, pushing me across the ground and pinning me to a wall. I had to cut myself free from it."
Wait...was daddy winning or loosing here? Was Arthur winning? And was that blood? Blood was never good. He was quite confused as to who was winning this little thing...it looked like one was winning one moment and then another the other. Though he still watched through splayed fingers what was going on, big eyes watching and following as fast as they could.Though he didn't think he liked watching Arthur hit his daddy like that.

Another hit on his face, and Malik flipped himself to his feet, wiping blood from his mouth...when arthur pulled one of those last stand type phrases. that got a chuckle from Malik.
"As you wish."
and malik stood perfectly still, held his blade up..and when Arthur's blade would have collided with his..it went through him, fading like a shadow. Malik timed his shadowstep at exactly the last moment before they collided, and shadowed himself about a foot from Arthur's back, and drove Malvolence backward, aiming to literally impale him on Malvolence. nowhere fatal...like just in the gut. someplace easily healed if needed.
