Gion nodded and closed his bag, slinging it over his shoulder. He was ready. He had left a note for Nadya upstairs, and had told her the night before that he would be accompanying the others back to the castle.
Not that he particularly wanted to return, but it would be nice to see his grandmother again. Besides, he wanted to see her reaction, tell her face to face, that he was getting married.
He waved to Laer and headed for the door, trusting to the others to follow.

"I hope you all had enough to eat," Laer said in a motherly tone. "Ah well. Safe travels, and I hope everything goes well for you! Gion, you be careful."
He wasn't her son yet, but she had been treating him as if he were for the past several years already, since even before he had begun courting Nadya.

Triton rose from his seat taking up his bag once more. He smiled and gave a small bow.
"It was more than enough, thank you," he murmured.
At least they had a good start to the day now.

"It was yummy!" Mia replied as she lifted up Alice, "Alice is up full too."
She hugged Alice close to her before getting her own bag.

Four hot days later, the group arrived back at the city once more, dusty and sweaty. Still, the trip had been an uneventful one, and after their trip to the Northland, Gion was quite content with that.
The guards stared at them as they entered the castle, but made no movement to stop them. It may have been over a decade since Gion had left, but he still looked much the same, and they did recognize him, as well as the guests that had been there three weeks previous.

Luthien was walking down the hall when they entered, but at the sound of their entrance she turned to see who it was. She did a double-take when she saw Gion, hardly daring to believe her eyes. He'd been gone for so long ...
"Welcome back!" she called out to all of them, though most particularly to Gion, rushing over to greet them. Her dark eyes shone with happiness when she moved to stand with them.
Suddenly she remembered something. "Donovan, your daughter's been waiting for you," she told him. "She refused to leave until you returned ... shall I find her for you?"
Since she was most likely off with Earendil somewhere. Or with Nina, though Luthien really had no idea how the kirin kept herself occupied all the time.

Perhaps it was the heat, perhaps it was because it had been a long three weeks, or maybe it was all of the above, but Donovan blinked and stared at Luthien. As if his brain had trouble processing the fact he had a daughter who had been waiting for him for what had to be at least over two weeks.
"Which daughter?" he finally asked with lack of grace, "There are a lot of daughters."
He had been hanging around Kara for too long, but it only made snese because he had no daughters, at least not biologically. He was trying to think of all the children young enough to call him father.

Triton raised a brow at that partly because again one of his sisters came into this world. Poor mother would be having fits if she knew how many times people kept sneaking away.
"There aren't many sisters I have that call you father," Triton pointed out to Donovan.

Mia giggled at that, it looked like some of her sisters had become very attached to Donovan, it amused her really.
Meanwhile Lin was indeed running (or in this case riding) about. She liked spending time with Earendil, after her daily nap with the guard after attempting for the nth time to try and follow Ruel to work.
"Do you think your Daddy is use to me yet?"

Luthien laughed. "Lin," she replied, amused. "And I have to say ... she's most definitely your daughter. She's so much like you that it's actually a little scary."
Not that Donovan was scary, or Lin for that matter, just the thought of how similar the two of them were was what was scary.
Earendil chuckled at Lin as he walked next to her and Nina. "I seriously doubt it," he replied. "It takes Ada forever to get used to anything. On the other hand, I have to agree that you really shouldn't be trying to follow him to work. Anywhere else, yes, but not there. It's far too dangerous."
Not only because she was small, but because the forges that were used to temper the littinum were exponentially hotter than those that were used for regular metals, and littinum was the metal that Ruel specialized in. Just getting too close to the door at the wrong time could seriously injure anyone.

Donovan for one of the few times in his life looked completley dumbfounded, mainly because it was Lin. Though the logical part of himself told him that it wasn't that surprising really, the girl was getting into everything all the time. Still, it was Lin, and if he wasn't in front of people he would have been swearing darkly in Chinese.
"Please tell me she wasn't the accidental cause of any broken bones, objects or... well if it was pride I wouldn't care as much."
Anyone could be outsmarted by that fox probalby deserved it.

"I'm not going to go in," Lin replied back, "I was just following him long enough for him to get to work," she nodded, "It's not like I get far enough," she addd with a pout.
Not that she minded, it was a pity the person who was always holding her was on duty, because she was sure he would talk more if he wasn't.

"Oh, no, not at all," Luthien assured Donovan quickly. "No, she's been very well behaved, except that she refused to go back home. She's been quite welcome here, really, spending time with Earendil and Sir Valdemar, and even Elrohir once in a while."
Earendil smiled faintly. "It's dangerous even just to go close to the room," he told Lin. "Besides, you did manage to get to see the top of the mountain, even though you weren't supposed to. Can't you be satisfied with that?"
As he spoke, they rounded the corner and the main door of the castle came into view, as well as the group of people who were all standing there.

"Because it's something to see," Lin replied back of matter of factly.
And because people told her she couldn't, which tended to only make her want to do that something more. As bad as it sounded. As they rounded the corner she saw as they kept walking very familiar people.
Except for Gion, whom she did not know but everyone else... Lin hopped off of Nina and ran towards the group as fast as her little legs could carry her.
"Daddy!" she squealed as she whamped into his leg and latched on snuggling him that way, since it was the only part she could grab onto at the moment.

Donovan blinked as he heard and then felt something ram into his leg. He looked down at Lin who was looking very much like Kara at the moment hugging his leg like that. It was funny he mused how it was only when she was happy, pleased or in the mood to hug that she seemed so much like her mother.
Out of reflex he bent down to pick her up.
"Lin..." he sighed knowing she probably had done at least one thing she shouldn't have while she was here.
