Even though her wounds were mostly healed by the efforts of her Wish and the Leftovers, Ariel was looking tired. Kasiya couldn't blame her, the heat from the volcano was starting to get to her too. She wiped the sweat from her brow and took a deep breath. The Absol was growling fiercely, looking ready to attack again. "Water Gun!" the trainer called. Shakily, the Vaporeon complied, firing the blast of water towards the eager Absol. Deftly the dark Pokemon jumped to the side, completely avoiding the attack. It charged forward, slamming into the exhausted Ariel with full force, from which the Vaporeon did not get up from. Silently Kasiya recalled her faithful partner, and swallowed the lump in her throat. She held another Pokeball in her hand, ready to once again try and capture the tough Pokemon before her. She let it fly, this time, the red and white sphere hit its mark, the Absol letting ot a startled cry as it was pulled inside.

Keegan and Helios had both been knocked to the ground from the force of Shiva's devastating attack. He'd only just managed to pick himself up when he spotted a rather cheery Dante heading towards him. "That was great," he said, giving a nod of approval. "You sure showed him." Helios hopped over to where Shiva was, ready to congratulate the Sealeo on a job well done. His six tails flickered back and forth, a few bits of remaining hail that had stuck to his fur melting away into nothingness.

The Pokeball hadn't even touched the ground yet when the feisty Absol burst out, the Pokeball breaking in two. Kasiya felt frustration course through her veins as she hastily took Shocker's Pokeball from her belt. The Raichu appeared before her, still looking tired. "Can you help me out here?" Kasiya asked, making sure that her Pokemon would be alright to battle. The Raichu nodded, and turned to face the larger Absol, sparks flaring from her cheeks. "Alright then. Let's slow it down with a Thunder Wave," she said. Shocker nodded again, and quickly generated a weak electrical current that streaked out, causing paralysis to the Absol. Its movements were noticeably staggered, and easily predictable now. All they had to do was weaken it some more...

"Yeah, that's true." Ryka agreed, looking around the unfamiliar town. "Wow, it's so.. so big!" She exclaimed, something down the road catching her eye. A huge stage was set up in the middle of town, and a large crown was surrounding it. When the two got closer, Ryka saw that Pokemon and their trainers were performing on the stage, and being judged. "Wow...!" Ryka said, eyes sparkling. She looked over at Jaeshan. "Uhm.. do we have any time to stop..?" She asked, smiling.

Shocker nimbly dodged an attempted scratch attack from the Absol, giving a slight growl as she used her long tail to trip her opponent. The Absol crashed to the ground, now visibly weaker as it struggled to get back up. Kasiya held a third Pokeball in her hand, but looked at it in disdain. Would it be enough? Not wanting to risk the chance of wasting another Pokeball, Kasiya ordered Shocker to use a weak Thundershock. The Raichu focused her powers into a small, concentrated jolt. The Absol cried out in pain, but slowly got to its feet, its crimson eyes narrowed in malice as it started down the Raichu before it. It lunged suddenly, springing into a Quick Attack to gain speed as it lashed out with both paws, raking its sharp claws across Shocker's soft body. The Raichu squeaked out in pain, her eyes glazing over as she fell into a crumpled heap. The Absol now stood between the girl and the fallen mouse Pokemon, eying them both, a wicked gleam in its eyes.

Jaeshan checked his watch, then smiled at Ryka. He couldn't say no to her, not with that cute look on her face. "We should have some time," he said, glancing around. The Pokemon Center stood not far from where they were, and he moved forward, dismounting his bike and tapping an older gentleman on the shoulder. "Excuse me sir, but what's going on?" he asked politely.
"These trainers are showing off their Pokemon's moves," he explained. "There isn't a contest being held today, but some of the previous winners and champions are giving the folks a show."
"Contest?" Jaeshan repeated, blinking. "What's that?"
"Heh!" the man chuckled. "In Pokemon Contests, the trainers, or coordinators, train their Pokemon to be elegant, graceful and well behaved. Pokemon use their attacks to make appeals, which are then judged. After the appeals are finished, the contest moves into a sort of rated battle, where coordinators try to battle as smoothly and gracefully as they can, while reducing their opponents points. It's all much easier to watch then explain," the man laughed.
"It sounds awesome," Jaeshan grinned, glancing at Ryka. "When is the next contest?"
"Wednesday," the man said, as all eyes came to rest on a tall, extremely lovely yong woman with long, strawberry blonde hair. She was dressed in a stunning, pale rose outfit which sparkled in the sunlight. An equally lovely Pokemon floated out beside her, which Jaeshan immediately recognized as a Dragonair. The crowd went deafly silent as she uttered a few quiet words, and the Dragonair started to spin in a circle, creating a Twister in the center of the stage. On command, the slender dragon Pokemon fired out an Ice Beam into the center of the whirling tornado. The beam of ice was shattered as it hit the Twister, causing a whirlwind of icy sparkles to cascade down over the entire stage, and the first few rows of viewers. After a few more moments of silence, the crowd exploded into roars of applause and cheering.
"That was... amazing!" Jaeshan cried, his hands numb from clapping so hard. "Who is she?"
"That's Alexia Claythorne," the man responded. "She's last year's Kanto Grand Festival Champion. She is an extremely talented coordinator."
"She sure is," the boy nodded simply.

Ryka too dismounted her bike, and followed Jaeshan. She listened to all the man had to say. "Wow... sounds so much funner than Gym Battles!" Ryka said with a small laugh. She looked up just in time to see the woman on stage perform her dazzeling move.
"Wow..." Was all that Ryka could get out. She clapped very loud along with Jaeshan. "She's so.. beautiful up there.. This would be so awesome to enter!" Ryka exclaimed with much excitment. "Sir? Do you know how we might be able to enter one of these contests?"
"Yes, yes." The man replied, scratching his chin. "I believe that you can apply for contest passes up near the stage. Since this is a free show and all, they're accepting as many newbies as they can at the moment." The man finished with a chuckle. "Good luck to you two!"
"Thank you so much!" Ryka said, her excitment peaking. "Come on Jae, let's go sign up!" Just as she was about to start pushing her way through the crowd, Alexia Claythorne gracefully walked off of the stage. The crowd parted as she walked down her newly formed aisle, and she was heading straight towards Ryka and Jaeshan. Ryka went up to the side of the aisle, and just as Alexia passed, called out, "Uhm, excuse me, Ms. Claythorne?" She said as polietly as possible.
"Oh?" Alexia turned to face Ryka. "Ah, a fresh face!" She stated, as if she new everyone in the crowd. "Are you planning to enter a contest?"
"Ye.. yes.. And, wow.. You were.. amazing!!" Ryka spurted to the smiling Alexia.

"Shocker!" Kasiya cried, about a step forward but stopped as the Absol gave a sharp growl. The Absol wouldn't let her by, leaving the helpless Raichu behind him. Now backing up a bit, Allegra jumped down from her shoulder, and taking a battle stance. "No..." Kasiya said instantly, taking the Skitty's Pokeball and recalling her immediately. The kitten gave a small meow of disappointment as she disappeared into her white Premier Ball. Not until I know more about your abilities, Kasiya thought, clicking it back into place. The Absol growled sharply again, causing Kasiya to jump a bit as she fumbled for Hiro's Pokeball. Now sure of what she was doing, the dark Pokemon decided that he was not to let it happen. He lunged forward, rearing back his head and slashing with the curved horn protruding from the side of his head. The Arcanine's Pokeball fell from her grasp, rolling a ways down the rocky slope and stopping against a charred tree stump. Kasiya gasped, and slumped, clutching her left side with her hand.. She didn't have to look to assess the damage as a wet warmth seeped through her fingers. She grit her teeth and glared daggers at the attacking Pokemon, who looked ready to strike again. She closed her eyes, bracing herself for the attack.
A deafening screech sliced through the air, and when the attack didn't come, Kasiya opened one eye and cautiously looked around. A mass of green and white were rolling down the hill away from her. She winced as she pulled herself up so she could see better, a sigh of relief escaping her lips as she recognized her rescuer. "Fang..." The green Crobat screeched again, and only those who could understand Pokemon talk would know what he'd just screamed at the Absol as he flew up, and dived down again with an angry Steel Wing.

"I don't know if I could do contests," Jaeshan laughed sheepishly as Ryka nearly started shoving him towards the stage. The sea of people parted as the champion coordinator made her way through, waving and smiling at everyone. He froze up for a second as Alexia stopped in front of them, but soon found his voice again. "Amazing isn't the word for it," he blurted out. Wow, she's even more beautiful up close! he thought, as a dopey smile spread across his face.

The strange old man saw the very confused look on Mag's face. "Well I guess I should explain myself a little but first..." He pulled out a Pokenav and began to type while speaking out loud. "I... am... fine.. now.. thanks... for... the... help. Send!" He said jumping up and then putting it away.
"So where was I? Oh yeah the explination. I was wanting a trainer to battle but not just some idiot loser whould wouldn't give me a good fight so I figured a true good person and trainer would come and try to save me if I pretended to get trapped under some rocks!"

Nodding happily at Keegan's comment he counted the money the guy had given him befor handing it to Keegan, "That's to you pay for your close, maybe if were lucky it will be enough for dinner to." He said excitedly. His little bout of anger that he had was apperently long forgotten. Bending down he picked up the cute little Mudkip and brought her up to face level. "I think that I will name you Leviathan." He said with a smile, the newly named pokemon just blinked her dark eyes at him. Shiva barked happily and seeing the Vulpix coming over moved herself over to the fox pokemon and gave him a big lick across the face.

"Okay that was a twisted plot but I suppose I am always up for a battle." Mag said with a shrug. Sunfire barked in approval of the upcoming challenge. "Righto then! Hohoho! Oh and I'm Maurice by the way." He laughed as he sent out a powerful looking Scizor. "So you get to battle my Scizor, Sciz. Let's just have a one on one match for now okay? I'll let you make the first move. Hahaha..." Maurice stated with another laugh.
"Okay... Well then let's hit it with a Tackle!" Mag shouted to his Flareon. It is bug and steel type so when I actually start to use my fire attacks he is in for some serious hurt.

Fang continued his assault on the opposing Pokemon, his angry screeches and cries flooding the area. Kasiya reached into the side pocket of her backpack, her fingers enclosing around the smooth surface of her one and only Ultra Ball. Fang flapped his four wings furiously, swooping down and grabbing a hold of the Absol's bushy, white mane. He lifted the dark Pokemon into the air with relative ease, then proceeded to slam it back down on the ground. The Absol didn't get up from it. "Get back Fang!" she called, her voice surprisingly firm considering the situation. Fang obeyed, flying out of the way but keeping close in case he was needed again. Kasiya took a deep breath, and threw the Ultra Ball. The Absol was pulled in without any fuss, the Ball landing on the ground. Gritting her teeth, Kasiya watched it with unblinking eyes. Please, she thought desperately.

Sunfire sped in for a nice strong Tackle, taking the direct approach. "Sciz!" Maurice yelled. The scizor held his claws together and they gained a momentary shine as did the rest of his body. It looked like some sort of defense raising attack.
The Tackle connected but Sciz didn't seemed too phased by it. It then responded with a strong Metal Claw. Sending Sunfire flying it moved into an Agility after glancing to his trainer who stood there looking at the battlefield. "Whoa that is weird..." Mag mumbled to himself. "Okay better not mess around, this guy looks really strong, go for an Ember!" Mag shouted to Sunfire.

Grabbing one of the burnt branched Mitsu pulled herself up. Zyphyr's methods of saving had been a bir more painful than she had hope they were going to be. Scratches covered her from head to toe and he clothes were completely ruined. Covered and smeared with ashes, torn, and ripped in several places. "It's a good thing I packed extra clothing," Mitsu muttered. She looked down in time to see Fang swoop down from the skies and save Kasiya. Mere moments later the Absol was sucked into an Ultra Ball, and began to shake. Mitsu crossed her fingers and held her breath. "C'mon."
