((No worries, I'm just a tad impatient with people and I'm always suspicious they forget.))
Layla sank back to the ground, especially tired this morning and glad Maji wasn't a predator lurking near her haven. As he slipped through the foliage her eyes widened just the slightest amount as she took in her friend. It had been too long if he'd grown so much since she'd last seen him and she nodded apprieciatively at his words. As she heard the word "mother" her ear twitched slightly, but it seemed Montsho was in many ways what she thought a mother to be.
"She was old when she found me...it was surprising...but I suppose it shouldn't have been," she lowered her head in thought for a moment but looked up in an attempt to keep composure. "What's happened in your life since we last met...what has become of the...what is it called...pride?" Her words as always were stilted and seemed forced as she attempted to keep a genuine excitement in check.

"Much has happened.... some fortunate, some not so." He sighed a bit, taking a seat in front of her. "It was discovered through the coming of old-time pride members that I do in fact have a bloodline to the royals of the older days of the pride... my father was the former king here. The pride saw this as all the proof they needed and decided to name me their... leader of some sort." He smiled a bit sheepishly, "I... am honored to have their faith but it frightens me a bit... so many have come into the land- the pride really is larger but we've not laid down anything offical quite yet as far as what one is to do within the pride... there are rouges that have recently wounded badly one of ours." He frowned, "Me and the two other males have vowed to find this lion and put an end to him in order to keep our cubs and selves safe..."
He had more to speak of, but he decided to leave Ciyari out of it for the moment.

The large black lioness shifted slightly, resisting a tired yawn to avoid seeming rude. She nodded politely at his words and seemed a bit less impressed than perhaps she should have been at the news of his position. Though an adult she'd remained immune to the awe that status brought and merely raised her brow in interest. Her eyes narrowed slightly at news of these rogues and she stared at him with a certain excitement.
"Congratulations on your good news...and I am sorry for the unhappy occurances as well...if there was help I could provide I'd be happy to keep watch for this rogue," Layla's voice grew to a soft whisper and she looked around warily.
"Tell me more of your pride. Is...what was her name...Ciyari...still all-important if you are the leader? I remember she was very...self-important...as a cub."

There was a flash of pain in Maji's eyes at the mention of Ciyari that could not be concieled even by the lion's refined and otherwise outwardly cheerful nature. He jerked a bit as if jabbed by a thorn and pressed his maw tighter. For a time he said nothing, his brow creasing slightly as he fought off the pain from his eyes and pondered more on how he could word the lioness' trechery without throwing in his own personal buyas and loss into it. "She... was never the true ruler of these lands." He sad quietly, "And she is no longer of concern."
As professional as the words were, there was something in his tone that implied that there was far more to what he was revealing but a defensiveness that the issue was not one that he wished to have pressed with him.

She stared at him and her eyes narrowed at his reaction to her words. Suddenly wishing she hadn't said them and wondering what this lioness had done to bring harm to her friend.
When he responded she nodded and began to push herself up from the ground, not quite realizing how tired her muscles were this morning. When the lioness had risen she took a few steps past Maji and turned back, the slightest smile on her features though her body seemed exhausted and it showed.
"I am..sorry for bringing up a...painful topic...would you like to...accompany me to the river..." Layla's language was still stilted but she was pleased that she'd learned more proper words, always having felt a bit inferior to others for their ability to speak clearly and smoothly.

He averted his eyes from her as she walked past him, feeling a bit juvinile for being upset over something that really couldn't be solved. Feeling sorrow seemed almost foolish, it woudln't solve the problem and he was supposed to be strong for them. They looked to him to make everything better which meant that his own problems came last in his mind, they had to. Anything else would be selfish.
He lifted his head, trying to regain the appearence he had coming into the clearing, proud and strong. The black lioness had suffered a loss of her own- and probibly to a larger degree in her mind than his situation was in his, and she carried herself with grace. At her question he smiled once more, a graceful expression that seemed to wipe his face clean of any of his prior thoughts. "Yes, I would love to."
The lion gathered him up slowly, shaking his mane out once more to rid it of the bits of dry grass that had managed to cling to the silvery locks. Maji cleared his throat as he moved up beside the lioness, glancing down to her swollen belly. "My my...", he chuckled softly, "It seems that the spring has indeed come. I've only met one lioness in these lands that isn't heavy with cub. My congradulations Layla."

Her eyes widened at his words and came to an abrupt stop, allowing herself to drop to a seated position and stare incredulously at her stomach. This was news indeed, though it made far more sense than the excuses she'd made for her weight gain and fatigue. In one instant she was both massively releived and incredibly afraid. For a moment she sat completely immobile, brow raised as if she'd been told fish could fly. Her eyes rose up to meet Maji's and she began to laugh. It was a low, deep laughter and she just couldn't get over the oddity of the situation, it was as if the most odd-ball joke had been played on her and she had been completely oblivious.
"My do I feel like there's been an...elephant in my clearing...a big, blue elephant...and I'm only now seeing it!" she struggled for breathe through her laughter that slowly subsided into a nervous chuckle, "here I was thinking I was getting old and fat, what with the aches and pains."
When she'd finished speaking her smile faded and grew into a concerned frown, her eyes now large with worry as she stared at Maji.
"What am I going to do, I have no place...safe enough for a cub...I-I need help Maji," she felt weak asking for it after having heard of all of his problems and knowing that he had many things besides housing a lioness and her cub on his mind.

Maji paused in his walk, slowly turning himself about to watch the black lioness. She hadn't even noticed her own condition, or she had turned a blind eye to it in hopes that it hadn't been true. He wanted to ask who the father was... perhaps it was that rogue that had been in the lands and had done so much harm to Laana. His ears drew back slightly at the thought... he wouldn't put rape beyond the pink rogue. Especially if he had the nerve to turn on one of his own. Indeed, it woudln't be safe to raise cubs with that threat still on the loose... even if Enki, Ramses, and him were on constant lookout for him. Ramses especially vowed to get revenge for his mate.
"When we were young, I had offered you a home with us here." He said camly, walking over to the lioness with the same gentle smile that he had carried on him as a cub, "There are many caves that go deep into the stones that protect this valley... there's water and now there is a pride that's strong and large enough to hunt and offer further protection. My sister has born cubs and now my cousin is soon to be a father. You are welcome to join us in the caves, Layla...." He reached out, putting a paw on top of hers, "We won't let any harm come to you or your family..."

She looked up at him and smiled slightly, her eyes just the tiniest bit misty from the many emotions that ran through her. At his words she bowed her head slightly in thanks.
"Thank you Maji, this means...much to me. I hope I will not be a burden to your pride...I hunt well...I will help provide, when I'm able," She rose and began to continue her walk toward the stream, the tiniest smile still played on her features and her child-like giddyness she gently pushed her shoulder against the silver lion.
"It's been too long...too much has happened...but things will be good," she smiled brightly at him and looked around at her large stomach.

"Now now...", he leaned forward to catch her eyes, "No lion or lioness here is a burden on the pride... we're a family."
He got himself up and shook his mane out once more, rattling the decorations he favored those days. Wooden beads, spiraled bits of dried vines and the like. He allowed bit of distance between them as they walked, just enough to keep the image that they were no more than friends but close enough to give the lioness comfort, "We won't ask you to hunt until you're well and ready, Layla. We've more than enough members now to form powerful hunting parties.... the only thing, however, is you may have to keep to the caves while you are pregnant and some time while your cubs are young... that rogue is still unchecked and he's already attacked one cub-heavy lioness."

"Aleu?" The soft, familiar voice of Tumai echoed gently within the surrounding area. The only other sounds that could be heard came from a nearby waterfall, and the birds in the trees. Soon after calling out her name, he arrived at her side, greeting her with an affectionate nuzzle. "Believe it or not, I've missed you greatly." He said with a smile. "You're all I've been able to think about ever since we parted ways."
Moving round to her front, he continued to smile, until he noticed a set of cuts on her face that resembled claw marks. He frowned lightly, his jade-coloured orbs darting quickly over the rest of Aleu to make sure she had no other wounds. "Are you alright? I'm so sorry, I should've gone with you."

Content that Aleu did indeed seem fine, Tumai loosened up once more and sat before her. As she questioned him, he shook his head lightly. "No one was there. According to a bird I met soon after leaving the Crater, a silvery lioness had just left from the direction of the Crater, so that must've been mother." He smiled. "I didn't want you to believe that I had mislead you, so I decided to come straight back here rather than waiting." A small chuckle radiated in his throat. "Don't worry though, next time, we can go together if you wish."
Glancing momentarily towards the nearest waterfall, he looked back to Aleu. "Have you had a drink yet? The water here is very pure, since it falls directly from the sky to the mountains to the lakes. At least, that's what Maji told me." He smiled warmly, wanting to make a good first impression as this was really their first real meeting on terms that didn't include Aleu being a Firekin slave.

(AIM RP between Moofuls and Thalion
Maji glanced once more over his shoulder towards the pride's lands. He needed a breather... so much to think over. He wasn't at all pleased with how many lions had come freely into his lands without even so much as asking his permission... they could be connected to that pink demon of a lion... not to mention each and every one of them was about starting a family. More cubs for that devil to try for, more lions to protect... less food and water to go around. A mess the lot of it.
The mistweaver prince stepped lightly out into the open, he could see the stars here, could think... he was a large lion though lean in frame rather than particularly muscular. His upper body was horribly impressive, his life of climbing up and down the cliffs of his pride's home had sculpted nearly every muscle to near perfection, a diet of mainly fish left a brilliant shine to his silvery coat and pearly mane.
Green. Green. Everywhere, the green of mid spring. Kwana hated it. Greens, calming colors to most of the creatures in the area, provoked just the opposite reaction in the ex-Firekin. The lioness was on edge, padding swiftly along, jumping frequently if her paw fell on a thicker patch of grass or a bug leapt out from behind a leaf. The slightest of noises startled her, the barest trace of wind rustling through the leaves sent her spinning away.
But through it all, she continued on, tail lashing nervously behind her. She had made her decision; she had left the Firekin lands for good, continuing away against all odds. She had managed a brief stay in the Pridelands without incident. And, if she could endure the greenery there, a bit more wouldn't hurt...right? The blood red lioness was lean and fit after weeks of travel, having managed surprisingly well on her own; the prey had been unfamiliar, but much more plentiful than in the desert, and alone she didn't have to share with the rest of the pride. There was plenty for all, and the lioness was looking and feeling her best in a good age--aside from those blasted nerves.
Maji continued out away from the jungle, his mind fogged over with such problems....Such...problems...Maji growled, shaking his head, It's unfair... the lot of it. We can hardly feed ourselves yet to turn them away turns away help, more bodies to defend the lands though they apparently have no respect for being true to the pride... just a safe breeding haven for all they care. He growled again, pacing in a large circle once free from the trees.
An end to the trees! The lioness heaved a sigh of relief as the jungle came to an abrupt end up ahead. Speeding her pace, she crashed through the remaining brush with no heed for anybeast that may be around. At this point, she couldn't have cared less if someone was around; not much would threaten a lioness anyway. Kwana sprang from the trees, landing in a crouch and panting softly for breath, willing the nerves away. Grass was tolerable...Trees were not.
Maji whirled around at the sound of moving brush behind him, giving a warning growl as he came to a defensive stance, his large shoulders rolling up into the thick mane, his eyes burning... red... no it wasn't the lioness he had allowed in- or the one that had been from the pridelands. This one was different, new. "...another newcomer to these lands?" He questioned carefully, his tone, for the moment, unreadable.
Kwana's head snapped up as the voice intruded on her thoughts, icy eyes fixing on the silvery male. Rising slightly from her crouch, she instinctively sunk into a defensive position of her own. Silver pelt... A Mistweaver, she had heard, and by his words he lived here as well. The Mistweavers were a peaceful sort form what she could recall, but all the same... This male didn't seem to be in a terribly good mood, and she doubted she could overcome him in a fight, even with her present health. "...Merely passing through. I have no desire to remain here."
"Where are you from?" He kept calm, almost too much so. His voice was soft and heavily accented though it fit him well and was often found to be quite charming, "A spy for the outsiders? You have the pelt of a firekin though I've seen many who do but are not... explain yourself, lioness..."
Her lip curled, fur bristling somewhat. "That--" was none of his business, her mind screamed. But her rational sign desperately argued against potentially upsetting the male. Not only did she wish to avoid a fight, but she hadn't spoken with another lion in some weeks now... Clearing her throat, the lioness forced herself to relax, letting her guard down and straightening up, eyeing the stranger with a cool air that gave light to her royal upbringing. "I come form the Firekin desert, aye--once heir to the throne, now in exile. I have sworn against ever returning to the pride, and ask only that I may be allowed to travel in peace."
Maji relaxed as she did, shaking out his mane only to have it settle just as smoothely as before along his form, his head lifting to show his rank as well though more humbly. "...an exile from the firekin? They'd do that to their own heiress?" He shook his head, well that certainly didn't help his opinion for the barbaric red brutes of the sand.
Kwana's blue eyes narrowed bitterly, but towards the memory of her pride rather than this new lion. Lowering her gaze towards the ground, she hesitated but a moment before responding; what harm could it cause, after all? Perhaps pity would move this stranger to leave her in peace. "I was the first born, heir by rights, remaining under my mother's rule until I was of age to take command. But she rose my brother from beneath me, and he stole my throne from under me. I was working towards retaking it when he learned of my plans... It was exile or death."
"Better to live to one day try again than die and fail forever." He said as comfortingly as he could. "...you...look weary." He tilted his head to one side politely, "Forgive my tension towards you... these lands have seen friendler days."
"My thoughts exactly," she drawled, lifting her eyes back to the stranger. "Though, with the recent history of the Firekin, I am not sure I will ever return... They are..crumbling," she admitted, then grimaced, stoney facade fading to reveal the travel weary, confused young lioness beneath. "Speak of that to no one--Though I bear no loyalty to the pride, I would not have them destroyed if enemies were to learn of their present weakness."
Kwana seemed terribly disturbed by her own words, as if even that had gone too far, especially as she had no previous knowledge of this male to assure her that he would keep to his word--even if he did agree to it. "I am fine," she insisted sharply, drawing herself behind her royal shell once more. "Simply unused to all this...green. It is very strange after the desert." She paused, the echos of a smile flitting around her maw. "Accepted, of course. These are hard times for all of us."
"I don't have any desire to spread false news of any pride... nor act on it. We have our own problems, they have theirs. So long as they remain in their respected lands there will be no need for us to act upon them." He assured her, slowly looking to the jungle, "Green yes, but dry... we have been deserted by our god.. the rains have not fallen in a long time... it's not a good time for us."
"I thank you," she replied with a slow nod, faint smile remaining. Something about this lion... It could have been an act, she argued internally, but he had an air about him that radiated trust. Kwana had trusted no one since she was a child--save, perhaps, for the cheetah Kimbio, but he had quite taken with the Prideland's savannah and chosen to remain there. And here was another... But he would have to prove his worth, unlike the foolish cheetah who one couldn't possibly imagine to be malicious. "Ahh, I had not noticed.. The color is harsh to my eyes, it has stood out the most. We have very little rain in the desert... It has simply slipped my mind."
"I'd imagine it's a bit of a shock to one from the desert." He looked to the jungle again, "It's... all I've ever known. I woke up with only the jungle around me, it was greener than... softer, more damp. It's a bit warm now- more than I'm comfortable with." He looked back over to her. Water... yes, she had to have been thirsty. "Would you like to get some rest by the river? I assure you you can leave at any time.
"You speak of the jungle as I speak of my desert," she quietly observed, a far away look rising in her eyes. "Perhaps, if some can speak of it this way...I can learn to tolerate it." She briefly fell silent, then, blinking, refocused on him, debating over his offer. After a beat, she slowly nodded. "I... would like that, thank you."
