I'd imagined he'd been away from them for at least a year or so, gotten back to doing damage.

So how long has he been free for? Before Crownless got him was like 3ish years ago? Yeah, because he was still running around with Julian at the time. I'd imagined he'd been away from them for at least a year or so, gotten back to doing damage. Alright so here is Less's timeline: 5+ years ago: Pretty normal dude. A bit paranoid and awkward. Had scary gang members constantly threatening him and coming around his house so often he would try to spend little time there. Might ask to crash on people's sofas when he couldn't get an enchantment to work in time and felt like they'd kill him for it. Around 5 years ago: Found out he's been pushing along on false hope. Person he wanted to marry is dead. Full on depression. Hardly left his house. Cried often. Was suicidal, but too scared to do it. Around 3 years ago: Became a lot more cold as his depression slowly began to transform into a form of apathy. Totally socially destroyed and incredibly uninterested in interacting with others. As time went though, he began to focus more on his enchantments again. So he would be forced to meet people he could get things from, clients, and people who could help him collect ingredients he needed. So 3 years or so would've been the peek of his hermit phase. However, there are still ways they could've met. Maybe your character can be the only reason he didn't end up starving to death in his apartment bed since he rarely had the willpower to get up.

He was disgusting back then. If anyone cared enough they could've took money from him and did his shopping for him or some s**t. Easy microwave meals and food they he can just grab without prepping. I could see Less even losing his first apartment and having to downgrade. Maybe he ends up grabbing some s**t apartment in Haven for a little bit. The second he started The Brume he would've had a conniption fit to get his old apartment back though.
