Traversing the sands and taking note of a few highly remarkable features among the desert, including an Obelisk of Black Steel, a rare enough occurrence to begin with. Made all the more intriguing by a line of Steel Release users from his own home village. Disregarding the fact for now, but keeping it in mind the Jounin traveled on to the gateway crevice into Sunagakure, pausing as he would assume a host of Anbu or similar shinobi would soon be there to see to his intent. Placing himself so that he stood where light filtered through the crevice and onto his body he removed the cloth scarf he had covered his face in during the travels through the desert, and await.
"I am Hatake Masahiro, I come simply bearing a message for a Suna-nin by the name of Sanshi Satetsu and to apply for trade to help rebuild a collapsed district of my own home village." The Shinobi spoke, knowing there would be someone there to take note of his words.
The anbu on the terraces would the hatake to not approach any closer, as a man of about 6 feet tall would approach the individual. His face would have a blank, almost bored expression on his face as he stepped within 20 feet of the visitor.
"I am sanshi satetsu. State your name, village, and your business here. "
San noted that he smelled like a konoha, having an overly high amount of pollen on his cloths to be from the desert. The heat of the day was close to 110°F, and the visitor must be exceptionally hot, and probably dehydrated....

Theodin arrived at the village entrance and looked around for Kumiko and everyone else. Finally spotting the tiny kunoichi through the crowd he walked over to her, saying "Hey Kumi, nobody else show up yet, I guess? Alright, anyways I got some fun stuff to use on the mission." He showed her the crazy looking explosive notes and explained what they could do as best as he understood. When he finished he said "Hopefully their almost done at the academy and will get here fairly soon." He continued to wait patiently for the others, excited about his first real field mission.

"I am Hatake Masahiro, Nephew of Hatake Howaido. Konohagakure is where I currently take residence, though if the succession of Hokage continues... Regardless. I came to pass on a message to you at my Uncle's insistence as well as a matter of some urgency for my village. To begin with, I know the history of our villages has been tense, so let me save that matter for last. I, initially, come to present you with this parting token of our mutual friend." As the Hatake spoke he produced two items from under his cloak, the broken hilt of a sword in one hand, and the blade, nestled within it's sheathe in the other.
Holding these items forward he waited for the Sunagakure-nin to remove them from his hands. His eyes closed for the briefest of moments, opening with a kind of serene apathy within them. Howaido had inspired him to walk the path he had, even across the lines of the villages. The man before him now had been Howaido's greatest rival, and in turn, friend. Peering across the divide between them he held steady beneath his cloak, the temperature not affecting him as bad as it could have. Light, linen clothing had worked for the trip.
"Howaido met his end travelling the lands searching for someone to give him the kind of rivalry you two had once had. He once told me he took his leave of this place because he felt in order for both of you to grow you couldn't both live in the same place, but instead had to strike out and find newer, bigger challenges. His travels took him across these lands and even outside of this continent, he told me once." Masahiro paused for a moment.
"But it seems he and I have found a common enemy. The same one which robbed him of his life, while still in his prime. A General in the UHV forces, back before they became a problem of mine as well. Zeljko Miroslav, the Black Bear Butler. The only thing that Howaido managed to relay to me, before succumbing to his wounds, was this, he fights as a Samurai, but belies a larger secret. At this point Howaido's words became to hard to understand, as his lungs had begun to collapse. When the Med-nin arrived they were surprised he had made it through the woods, let alone from whatever outpost these people kept."
Masahiro halted here, eyes resolute, a fierce electrical burn held within them.

San had to Ponder the story of the visitor, though His physiological signs at least gave some confirmation of truth. The sword parts would lift from the hatake's hands, confirming it was howaidos. San, being its crafter, would curse himself internally while His face remained expressionless. This was one if his first weapons crafted, and since thin he had come into inherent better materials and better crafting skills. One of the ANBU would grab the pieces, and dissapear. His voice would be even as he spoke, still not moving from his stance.
"Black bear butler you say? I know why he fought him then. Its a shasme my rival met His demise so easily. Back in the day he was on my skill level...he seemed to have fallen off his path since I knew him. It is appreciated that you filled out his final wish. But you shouldn't have come here...too many konoha ninja have died at this gate to add another namless, skilless headband to my kages collection. Some months ago, several konoha ninja attacked my gennin on a routine patrol mission. Why."
San would fold his arms, an intensity being sent from beyond his blindfold that seemed like a physical force that the hatake could pick up on.

With a plume of smoke and the sound of stone hitting stone, Bast popped out of San's scroll and took in the nice view afforded by the Gates. The cliff faces towered above her in a way that made her feel small, which felt much better than standing over a flattened, rotten landscape.
"Oh, wonderful, another Konoha-nin," she muttered, noting the smell of rot coming from Masahiro, a product of the state of the Fire Country after the rotting rain. "I just got done listening to your kid Hokage. Please tell me that you're better at diplomacy than he is."
The jounin took the intense force in stride, crossing his own arms and raising one from the nestle they created, signing as if he did not know. His verdant eyes scanned the figure of the man as he thought of how best to describe the situation of Konoha and why so many nin had acted on their own accord, yet there was no true answer. They were children, plain and simple, many of whom didn't wish to listen to the words of the Hokage, and those who did took to their mission with undue force and attacked anything in their way. Sighing as he looked back on his own life of near thirty years the jounin rested his right arm back down so that they were crossed once again, just as another being appeared from an item that Sanshi had been carrying.
"The reasons why more of my idiot villagers traveled through the forest and the desert to attack a patrol of your villagers, I really couldn't say. II have no information on the event, but knowing the slippery path my village has been on, I would say it's due to the failing infrastructure of the Hokage and the fact that in the last couple years we've been through Three such Hokage, who so far have placed wants of the villagers ahead of the needs of the village as a whole. I honestly tell you I've come here, unlike them, in more accordance of seeking peace and placing the needs of a village ahead of the wants." The man spoke, plainly and evenly in tone.
Eyes never faltering he inspected both figures before him and chuckled in a dry tone when the woman spoke of the 'Kid Hokage'. Thus far he had done nothing but agree about the demeanor of their current Hokage. Though he wasn't pleased at the way he was spoken of upon her arrival he let his face remain a visage of impassiveness. That was key to him and his clan, after all, and he was more than diplomatic compared to the current Hokage thus far. Inspecting the woman he gave a moment of pause.
"I must ask, however, ma'am. I have never met you face to face before, but whispers of a name and form seem to fit you. Are you in fact Kazekage Miyamoto, of Sunagakure? If so I come to speak a matter with you as well, though I am willing to believe if you've spoken with the Yamanaka than he may have asked it."
With the appearance of Bast, sans internal delight would peek. With her mutterings as a confirmation of her travel. San still stood poised and fixated on masahiro, an immovable object to agree. While his information correlated with the info he previously had obtained from the village, and bast probably knew these answers already, the sannin decided to press the issue.
"That answer is not good enough. It is easy to blame the seat of power when it is not you sitting in it. Three hokages? Pityful. So you mean to tell me that there were three separate individuals who had access to all the records, all the files, all the incidents, and here you stand before me " seeking peace" without any penance ,sacrifice, or consulation towards my people and village, without any reason or knowledge of why the attacks happened, and your reason is the "kage made them do it?" And yet you stand before me, an obvious upper rank, and completely unaware of your villages proceedings??? Indeed...putting "the village ahead of its people."
San would look to Bast in a the closest thing to a sneer he could muster.
"Are all konoha ninja like this? Do they even have a possible contemplation of the price of peace..."

Masahiro turned his head somewhat, tilting it to the side as he inspected Sanshi for a moment. His monotonous facial expression sitting somewhere between uncaring, amused, and bewildered. The eyes scanning the man over then changed their target to Bastet, then back to Sanshi as he steadied his composure and righted his posture. He didn't seek to impose or intimidate those before him, but now to clarify himself. To make himself presentable. Removing his cloak with one hand as Sanshi continued on his tirade about the method of Konohagakure Shinobi, however, Masahiro raised his free hand in a method that spoke not of any jutsu, but in a silent, watching, yet oddly respectful tone all of it's own.
"I misspoke, I did not come here to present treaties or negotiations of peace with you, Sanshi, not yet but in accordance of, meaning I did not intend to cause further incident. Nor did I come to give the false impression of impetuousness coming from the nephew of Howaido. No, I came to speak of trade. I take it Ibara did not speak the words that truly needed said, and knowing this impetuous upstart of a Hokage we've been lumped with by the former, I am willing to bet that he placed insult among what should have been gratitude.
Shinsetsu Noctis, Hokage at the time of my return to Konohagakure was a man of many intricacies as well as a seated hypocrisy. He would tell his Jounin he trusted them, but until the day of his near death at the hands of the Kyuubi did naught but ostracize many of us, good riddance. His successor Uchiha Masaru was an underhanded fool, who placed too much faith in his brothers and subverting everything the village had begun to hold dear. He built his version of Konohagakure around what he thought was ideal, which was power only in the hands of himself and the four he viewed worthy. As soon as real opposition came he and his brother committed suicide atop the Hokage Monument together. Out with the weak, I've seen genin from other villages more suited to roles of leadership than he, and his place was only secured by the community vote of his brethren and a beyond ridiculous imposition at the hands of the former Hokage.
With his dying breaths Uchiha Masaru placed in power the one person least suitable for the position, but who with help managed to limp the village through the Kyuubi again, this time with your help, as if he were attempting to drag Konohagakure into it's death knell.
But of this, I am impartial... For now." Masahiro sighed, a piece of heavy bereavement falling from his chest as he did so. His eyes met with the blindfold of Sanshi.
"I accept things for what they are. Neither pleasure nor hatred guide me. I did not come to you on a feeling or whim, reliance and reaction on partial feelings is as damning as striking with a dull blade. I have shrunk myself and my pride, to think of what was greater for this world, to expand my thoughts to cover it. As generations before me, I live detached from desire, and regret nothing I have done.
Resentment and complaint are neither appropriate for you, or I. Should you turn me away for this, I will not be swayed to think any more or any less of you. Konohagakure is just one village of a larger world, of this I must remember and be impartial, lest I lose the way of the Sennin. I do not hold the belief of my ancestors or my villagers towards either of you, nor of this place. If death is my penance for seeking aid, true aid, not demanded reparation or seized desires of peace without war to know them, then I shall accept this fact. For I may abandon my own body, but in doing so I will preserve my own honour. From this path I shall not deviate." Masahiro spoke, eyes half lidded as he recited the path of his way, applied to the situation at hand.
"It is said, that nothing outside of yourself can ever enable you to get better, stronger, richer, quicker, or smarter. Everything is within. Everything exists. To seek nothing outside of yourself, but this I weigh heavily upon. I came seeking to become as Howaido was. To become as he, and surpass him some day is my goal, Sanshi. If I have come in bad taste, or if I offend without you understanding the truth of my intent, then let me depart." The Konoha nin spoke, his voice still resolute as he stood tall, a flair of blue flames licking off of his exposed left shoulder, the faint feeling of chakra emitting from within it.
Kumiko waved at Theodin as he walked towards her, the young genin smiling up at her friend. "You cool some neat stuff. I wish I had the money to buy stuff. But no missions so far that give money..."

"I am Miyamoto Bastet, yes," the woman responded coolly. She listened quietly as the ambassador explained the situation in Konoha, his testimony affirming many of the assumptions she had made while talking to the Hokage.
"I honestly don't understand how you could tolerate such instability," she confessed. "I had assumed the majority of Konoha's situation based on my conversation with the Hokage whelp. He, too, claimed not to know of any attacks on us. Would you believe me if I said that his idea of a peace treaty was paying us for the damages and gaining unfettered access to our knowledge base? And that, after we stopped that awful rain."
Bast, remembering that she still had her breath mask on, undid her Douka activation and slid the mask down around her neck. She took a deep breath of the clear Suna air for the first time in what seemed like hours, relishing the lack of rot in the air.
"From what I have seen of the Yamanaka, I would believe it, yes. From what I have seen he wishes well, but he is too far inexperienced for his position and rate. The Yamanaka clan, after all, are known for their gathering of information and their distribution of it as well. But I do not believe his methods of going about it has been correct at all. If what you say, of several of our Shinobi attacking a patrol of your Genin, then you have all rights to hate us. But you also have all rights to know why, and you have been generous not to take war to our lands, your continued peace despite this event shows your magnanimous nature, Miyamoto Bastet. If anything, I would have proposed as a method of good will our repayment to you, Kazekage Miyamoto, in food direct from the farmlands nearest your village and a small tithe, then perhaps in having a select few ambassadors living within each other's village, at most. No need of either side to divulge secrets, especially when distrust is so rampant among our pasts." Masahiro intoned, looking towards Bast.
"To be fairly honest, neither do I, however. I cannot fathom why I have lived in such incompetence to the instability of Konohagakure besides the will of my mother that brought me there once long ago and the monks in the Temple Hidden in Fire who helped to raise me. Perhaps time in Suna to clear my head is something I could use, to see the world from a perspective as clear as your own."

San would let the young hatake speak, as well as Bastet have her peace, and would then press the issue he had at hand. His sensei would fill him in later if she had the time. Maybe more information was possible.
"Offended? no you have not offended me. What offends me is you think that trade is even possible after the actions of your people. You have not offered any condolences, any recourse for your actions, and we send our Kazekage, and esteemed practitioner and legend in the arts, to save your village simply because she didnt want to see a sick puppy die that day...and you want trade?. What about repayment for our services? repayment for not leveling your village to the ground? Repayment for attempting an investigation instead of assuming your villages guilt? i understand that it was not your personally, but you are connected. You gave me a quote, now i will give you mine. "The actions of the few affect the many." you may not have been the cause...but you are connected. The fact you do not understand this NOR accept this offends me, that you simply remove yourself from the actions and consequences of your kin. Howaido would be ashamed of this gesture of yours...as he was a driving force of our accountability. If you are really going to be as Howaido was, then you must RIGHT the wrong that your village has done, regardless of your involvement. You must right the wrongs, even if it is not the easiest thing to do. That is what Howaido had taught me....."

Before proceeding with the conversation, Bast poked San in the forehead, transferring to him knowledge of what transpired during her short foray into the Fire Country, from helping Four deal with the putrid cloud to her conversation with the Hokage.
"Give me a moment or two with this person while you analyze that encounter," she told him before patting him on the shoulder and turning to fully face Masahiro. "Here in the Hidden Sand, survival is our primary goal, and as such we have plenty of crops specially adapted to our harsh climate. Food and money are not needed," she proclaimed, "but atypical materials and knowledge are always welcome. The last person to come to us offered the mass of black metal that still sits nearby, having produced it with a bloodline ability. Secrets need not be divulged, but if you know anything you believe we would find interesting, this would be a good time to bring it up."
San would likely notice the difference in her speech patterns as compared to the memories she had just given him of her encounter with the Hokage. If Bast were to describe it, she would likely say that now she was acting more along the lines of a merchant striving for a good deal, whereas earlier she had been purely diplomatic.
