♟♞ ♝ ♜ ♛ Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą & Ďȋɱȋŧʁȋ Ĵ. ᾟűηŧȇʁ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ Dimitri stepped out of the small back room after hanging up, glad to know that Kedrick and Arielle were on their way and they would soon be reunited with their friends. The gangly ginger had busied himself with sweeping the floor and he looked up as Dimitri reentered the main part of the store. "No trouble?" He asked with a good natured smile at the slightly build dark haired boy.
Dimitri shook his head. "No, it went just fine, thanks." He said, earning a brief nod from the trainee. Dimitri turned looking past a shelf to see if he could spot Maria. Once the boy had caught sight of her, Dimitri walked over, leaning over her shoulder. "See anything you like?" He asked in her ear, not sure if he had approached quietly enough to surprise her. He grinned, reaching over and pulling out a small package of little doughnuts with powdered sugar on them. "You like doughnuts?" He asked curiously, straightening up and turning that package over to look at the price. Kedrick beamed when Arielle came out of the tent, glad that she had responded right away. He grabbed her hand as she kissed his cheek. "Dimitri called," He said breathlessly. "He said that he had Maria are at that little corner store that you pass on the way in....that's like...ten miles from here, I have no clue how they go there, but we need to pick them up right away."
Kedrick, for all his excitement, was still worried. Dimitri had said that neither of them were hurt, but they had been missing for nearly a full twenty for hours. For all Kedrick knew, Dimitri may mean seriously hurt, but that didn't mean that they were tired, and sore, and hungry. Besides, Kedrick still didn't know how in the world they had ended up ten miles from where they had started, it didn't line up, and Kedrick needed to know the whole story before he would stop worrying.
The blond haired boy had found himself walking, almost without realizing it, towards the car, Arielle's hand still in his. He wanted to get the them as soon as he could. Kedrick turned, looking back at his girlfriend. "We'll leave right away, worry about changing into something normal for the day later." He said, and then, he kissed the back of her hand and released it, opening the driver side door. Kedrick slid into the front seat, sticking the keys in the ignition and waiting for Arielle to hop in.
He tried to imagine in his mind what in the world would have taken Dimitri and Maria all the way out to that little store. They certainly couldn't have gotten there on foot! Unless of course they had been walking all day, in the rain and didn't stop to sleep. Kedrick also fretted that his two friends probably hadn't had a bit to eat since they had been separated and Kedrick desperately wished that he hadn't won the round of rock paper scissors. Otherwise, Dimitri and Maria would have still been carrying the basket, and would have had enough food to last them until they were found.

Arielle Shore
"I'm glad they're safe then," Arielle said with a relieved smile, just happy that Kedrick seemed to be in such better spirits compared to yesterday. Minus the small scare she had from this morning, even she herself was feeling a lot better about the day. She gently squeezed his hand, smiling happily to know that things were alright with them.
Should I tell him about..., Arielle begun to think before realizing that it'd be awful timing to bring that up. Instead, she decided to just ignore it for now. She blinked in surprise as Kedrick started walking to the car, the young girl in tow since she had barely thought about letting go of his hand.
Like Kedrick, she was curious as to how they ended up getting so far away from them, especially ten miles. I'm sure we'll learn once we meet up with them, Arielle thought optimistically. She nodded to what Kedrick was saying and smiled warmly as he kissed the back of her hand.
She got in her seat and fastened her seat belt, not realizing just how excited she was to see her friends again even after almost twenty-four hours. I wonder how well Dimitri was able to take care of Maria during the storm, she thought before looking at Kedrick and nodding. "Let's get going, Captain Kedrick," Arielle said cheerfully.
Donuts or candy corn? Or do I want to share those weird circus nut marshmallow things? Maria thought, completely deep in thought about snack choices. The more she looked, the more she realized that she wasn't really sure on what was Dimitri's favorite snack. She frowned lightly, trying to think of something good. Part of her wanted the chocolate, but she knew that wouldn't mash too well.
For the second time that day, Maria was caught off guard by a voice coming behind her and for a brief second, she thought that it was Jared trying to get her out of the picture. Of course, seconds later her brain made out the sound to be Dimitri. She turned her head back at him, her shocked face already turning a outing face with a small sign of annoyance. "What is up with people coming from behind me?" Maria muttered, making a face at Dimitri and looked over at the snacks.
"I like a lot of things, actually," Maria said with a grin before looking back at Dimitri as soon as he asked her if she had like doughnuts. "Yeah, I like doughnuts," Maria answered, "But I'm having a hard time deciding what exactly I want. What about you, lover boy? Anything you desire?"

♟♞ ♝ ♜ ♛ Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą & Ďȋɱȋŧʁȋ Ĵ. ᾟűηŧȇʁ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ Dimitri blinked slightly at her shocked face and then the look settled into a small smile. "People sneaking up on you a lot recently?" Dimitri asked, and then registered what he had said with a small frown, he didn't want to go back to that topic. "Never mind, don't answer that." He said quickly, holding up a hand.
Dimitri relax a bit and smiled at her, "Lets see...The doughnuts do look good, but maybe..." He grabbed a small package that had four mini muffins in it. the muffins were vanilla and each one was topped with a chocolate icing. "These maybe?" He asked, smirking slightly. "We'd better pay for them and eat them fast or else we'll have to actually share with Kedrick and Arielle." He joked, putting heavy emphasis on the word 'share' as though the idea was mortifying. The dark hair boy snickered, and turned to walk up to the counter, making sure Maria was close behind him.
He set the small package on the counter and looked up at the older gentleman. "This all?" The man asked, the skin at the corners of his eyes crinkling as he smiled at the young couple.
Dimitri nodded his head. "Yes sir." He said, nodding his head once and sliding the package over. The owner picked up the small package and scanned it, ringing up the total. Dimitri payed and the man passed him the package and the fifty cents change. Dimitri thanked the man and turned to Maria. "Let's sit outside to eat okay?" He asked, and then took her hand, pushing open the door and walking out into the sunlight. He made his way over to the very same bench they had sat on earlier. It seemed strange to Dimitri, mere minutes ago they had sat on this bench when Dimitri divulged the deepest most wretched secrets of his past. Now, they sat here, eating muffins, and enjoying the sunlight.Kedrick looked over at Arielle as she slid into the passengers seat. "Aye aye Ma'am!" He said with a playful smile. Kedrick looked back over his shoulder as he backed up the car, the entire vehicle rocking as one of the back wheels dipped into a pot hole. Fortunately the pot hole wasn't deep and the car wheeled right out of it. Kedrick worked that car around until they were facing the dirt road that lead out towards the main road. "Off we go!" Kedrick said.
Kedrick and Arielle drove along for a few minutes, Kedrick remember as they went which way they needed to turn to get to the store. His excitement and nervousness reached a peak as they drove. He bit his lip, flexing his fingers on the steering wheel. Finally, after what Kedrick felt like was forever, he saw the corner store coming into view. "There it is." He said breathlessly, feeling relieved. Dimitri looked up, he and Maria had just finished up the last of the four little muffins when he saw a familiar blue car pulling into the parking lot of the store. The dark hair boy stood, grinning. "Looks like our ride's here." He said, looking back at Maria. The moment that Kedrick had stopped the car he threw open the door, stepping out. He scanned the parking lot, and his eyes landing on his two friends, Dimitri already on his feet. Kedrick's smile spread into a wide grin. He was so relieved to see his two friends, apparently unharmed and happy. "Hey!" He called, running over to the two of them.Dimitri grinned "Hey Kedrick we were-" He started, but only got so far. Kedrick didn't stop when he reached them, he plowed into Dimitri, hugging the other young man tightly. Dimitri gasped for air as Kedrick hugged him, and then, laughing, hugged him back tightly. Kedrick held on to Dimitri for a few long minutes. He had been so worried for his friend, driven crazy by the fact that he couldn't be there to help him and protect him. Protecting Dimitri had become second nature to Kedrick. He had done it all while they where kids, and continued to do so now that they where older teenagers.
From the show of open affection, both of the girls could clearly see that Kedrick and Dimitri's relationship ran much deeper then the average friendship. The two boys were closer then brothers, Kedrick had been there to help Dimitri though the hardest years of his life, and Dimitri had repayed the favor by being a constant friend and brother to the other young man. In their own way, both had been very lonely boys before they had become friends. Kedrick had grown up the only boy in a family of girls and had long wanted a boy his own age to play with. Dimitri, fearful of being shunned and mocked for his past, had rejected close relationships until he had met Kedrick. They both needed each other, and both were glad to have their companion back.
Kedrick pulled back, still holding Dimitri's shoulders, looking at him from arms length. "What happened to you two! Where have you been?" He asked, the worry evident in his voice even though it sounded as though he was scolding them. Dimitri smiled sheepishly, rubbing his arm and looking down. "Well...Maria and I found a little cave after we got separated from you two, we kind of hung out there for most of yesterday...once it stopped raining, we were pretty disoriented, so she and I picked a direction and just kind of...went with it." He said, which was pretty much the long and short of what had happened until that point. Dimitri shifted slightly, and he had to remind himself that he wasn't going to by lying to Kedrick and Arielle, just not tell the truth quite yet. "After that," He continued, looking back up at Kedrick and Arielle. "We walked pretty much all evening, and we were lucky enough to run across a house. The people who lived there...their phone lines had been knocked out by the storm so we couldn't call you, but they where nice enough to let us stay for the night. This morning, they drove us down here because they knew that this place still had a working phone." It was all technically the truth, just not filled in all the way. Kedrick nodded slowly as he listened to Dimitri's explanation.Something about the story struck him as a bit fishy and it took him a second to pinpoint it. He came to the realization that it seemed off because Dimitri would never be comfortable sleeping in a strangers house, especially after what he had been through. But Kedrick shoved the notion aside, knowing that if Maria was with him, and if his friend were desperate enough, he would consent to stay with a stranger.
Kedrick nodded once Dimitri had finished. "Either way, I'm glad neither of you were hurt, we were really worried about you." He said anxiously, and then, once he had made sure that Arielle had time to hug her friend, turned to Maria. He embraced the girl tightly, and then pulled back with a small smile. "Are you guys ready to head back with us?" Dimitri grinned, tossing some of his dark hair out of his eyes. "You bet." He said happily. "We certainly don't feel like hanging out here all day!"

Arielle Shore
Maria was about to answer but she was also glad that Dimitri stopped right there. She had no desire to return back to that depressing topic anyway. She gave him a grateful smile and pushed her bangs back, thinking that it was probably about time to get them cut again.
"Now those look delicious," Maria said excitedly as Dimitri picked up a package of four vanilla muffins with chocolate icing on top. She nodded when he mentioned about paying for them and followed closely behind him as they walked over to the counter. Even though they had a full satisfying pancake breakfast, Maria couldn't deny that those muffins definitely looked appetizing. She giggled at Dimitri's sharing joke and nodded. "Heaven's forbid that we'd actually have to go that length," she joked in return waiting for Dimitri to pay for the snack.
Once their purchase was made, Maria thanked the man and wished him a nice day before following along Dimitri. Her fingers intertwined with his and she couldn't imagine anything better then that. She nodded and let him lead her over to the bench, enjoying the feel of the sun as it kissed her skin. She sat down beside him and picked up a muffin, eating it happily and with a contented smile.
Arielle giggled at Kedrick's playfulness and made sure that she was completely secured before they drove off. She was starting to realize that she would check multiple times to see if she was perfectly alright in the care before leaving. She blinked when the back tire got stuck in the pothole but was glad that it wasn't that big of a deal since they were able to drive out of it easily. My body's so excited, Arielle thought anxiously as she looked out the window, wondering just how in the world she was going to greet both Dimitri and Maria.
Her mind had a chance to slip back into the mysterious text message and she almost felt tempted to pull it out and look at it's contents, but once again she stopped herself from knowingly ruining her mood. She left her thoughts about the little mystery when Kedrick announced that they had arrived, her eyes already scanning for her friends.
Finally! Maria thought excitedly as soon as Kedrick's car pulled up. It was once again dawning on her on how much she honestly missed seeing Arielle and Kedrick and was glad to return to them, where things were safe and fine and didn't have to watch your back at all times. She smiled, but it grew when she saw Arielle come out of the car after Kedrick. She waved back at Dimitri and watched as he tackled Dimitri. Her eyes shifted to Arielle who looked like she was battling in her mind whether to run to her best friend or just to calmly walk to her.
Maria walked over to Arielle and as they got at least halfway to each other, Maria opened up her arms and Arielle came running into them, clinging onto her friend and started sobbing. All of Arielle's pent up emotions from the night before were finally being released and Maria smiled gently, soothing her in Spanish and stroking her hair.
"I'm so glad you're alright," Arielle sobbed, sniffing and moving back so she could smile at Maria. "I don't know how long I could've stayed calm for both myself and Kedrick."
"It's alright now, chica," Maria said reassuringly, wiping Arielle's face with a gentle smile, "We're all safe and we're all back together. There's no need for you to worry anymore. Alright?"
Even though the two boys had a very close relationship, almost like two brothers from the girls' point of view, the same could be said for both Maria and Arielle. True that they spent most of their lives side by side, but in the scheme of things, Maria was like the big sister that Arielle never had. Maria had been through just about everything with Arielle; when her parents died, during her time with Jonesy, and even now. They were probably the literal version of inseparable.
Maria made sure that Arielle was completely fine before the two of them returned back over to Kedrick and Dimitri just as Dimitri was explaining what had happened when they separated. She kept her mouth shut, knowing that now wasn't the time to completely tell them everything that had happened.
Arielle nodded in agreement and went over to hug Dimitri, ruffling his hair and smiling at him. "I had to try and keep that one under control for most of the night," Arielle teased, pointing her thumb over at Kedrick, "But in all honesty, I'm glad we're all back together."
Maria smiled and nodded, laughing at what Dimitri had said. "And I honestly want to be in different clothes now. I need something fresh to start off a brand new day."

♟♞ ♝ ♜ ♛ Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą & Ďȋɱȋŧʁȋ Ĵ. ᾟűηŧȇʁ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ Dimitri smiled, wrapping his arms tightly around Arielle, giving her shoulders a reassuring squeeze. He and seen the girl's relieved tears when she had hugged Maria and Dimitri was aware of just how worried both of his friends had been. Dimitri grinned as Arielle ruffled his hair, the gesture was comforting and familiar. The dark hair boy looked up at her as she spoke and he arched an eyebrow. "Really..." He said, looking over at Kedrick, who had just stepped back from hugging Maria. "You were really that worried about me huh Kedrick?" He teased, grinning at the other boy. Kedrick looked up, a look of disbelief on his face. "Of course I was worried about you you idiot!" He said, not sure weather to laugh, or be agitated by the question. "I was worried sick, I was up most of the night worrying about you two!" Kedrick punched his companions shoulder, scowling. Dimitri held up his hands, an apologetic look on his face. "Alright, I'm sorry," He said with a smile, putting a hand on Kedrick's shoulder. "Although that's the second time I've been called and idiot today..." He mumbled under his breath.Kedrick sighed and then looked up with a small smile, excepting the apology. "I agree with Maria, Let's go back to the campsite. You two can change, and we can get on with our camping trip." Kedrick said, jerking a thumb back in the direction of the car. Dimitri nodded with a small smile. But he had to remember that there was one more less then pleasant thing that had to happen before they could get back to any carefree fun. Kedrick and Arielle would have to be filled in on the details of their little adventure. Dimitri bit his lip, he didn't particularly like the idea of telling Kedrick the details of what happened, but he had already resolved that there was to be no more secrets between the fours of them. The boy inwardly sighed, also remembering that he had given Maria permission to fill Arielle in on the details of his past. 'No more secrets....' He thought with resolve, his mind made up despite the unpleasantness of the situation.
Dimitri looked up, and then glanced over at his three friends. "Well! Let's get going!" He said, taking Maria's hand and starting towards the car. He took a deep breath. He had a few minute to just enjoy his friend company before he had to bother thinking about past events again.Kedrick smiled, reaching down and gently taking Arielle's hand in his own. He walked up beside the other couple, draping his free arm around Dimitri's shoulder so that the four of them were walking in a line.
Once they reached the car, Kedrick squeezed Arielle's hand and let go, opening the drivers door. He slid in to the comfortable interior of the car, leaning back in the seat a little bit. He was so much more at ease now then the last time he had been in this car. Now, he knew that his friends were safe, and he knew that they were on their way back, hopefully to run into no more trouble on their outing.

Arielle Shore
Arielle wasn't able to say anything as Kedrick responded to Dimitri. She could only laugh gently and smile, glad to see things returning back to normal just so quickly. She blinked in surprise when Dimitri muttered about being called an idiot for a second time that day, wondering who had called him that and only assumed that it was Maria since the people who let them stay over the night wouldn't call Dimitri an idiot.
"Back to our glorious adventure," Maria exclaimed happily, knowing that once she returned to her phone at her camp, she was going to have to call her already panicking mother and cautious father about why she didn't call and wish them goodnight. Hopefully mom answers, Maria thought with a light frown, Dad can easily pick up my lie if he answers the phone. She knew she promised Dimitri she wouldn't reveal to her family the truth about his past, but she wondered just how long she had to do so.
She was shaken out of her thoughts when Dimitri grabbed her hand and started dragging her over to Kedrick's car. Just like him, she was able to distract herself with the idea of filling in Arielle completely with everything that had happened and her thoughts on the matter, especially how she had started making a plan to catch Jared, but it involved having Dimitri having to suffer from him again, something that Maria honestly wished she didn't have to turn to.
I've got an entire car ride to worry about it, Maria thought with a faint smile, I can't let that ruin my mood now.
Arielle giggled as Kedrick grabbed her hand and almost felt like she was skipping as they walked over to Dimitri and Maria and were just a line of happy teenagers.
She smiled at Kedrick as he squeezed her hand once they reached the car and got in. She saw Maria give Dimitri a playful jab in the arm before she let go and helped herself in the back seat. She fastened her seat belt and was completely comfortable and glad that just about all of her anxieties and fears were gone. Well, not all of them, Arielle thought, a frown starting to appear as her mind thought off the mysterious text message again.

♟♞ ♝ ♜ ♛ Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą & Ďȋɱȋŧʁȋ Ĵ. ᾟűηŧȇʁ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ Dimitri grinned as Maria lightly jabbed his arm, "Hey!" He said with a grin, reaching out and quickly tugging on a lock of her russet hair before she disappeared into the backseat. Dimitri laughed, shaking his head and pushing his hair out of his face again. Dimitri, figuring that Arielle would want to be close to her friend, so he circled around to the front of the car and slid into the passengers seat next to Kedrick. The blond hair boy looked over at his friend, smiling brightly. "Had enough solo adventure for now?" He asked teasingly, gently bumping Dimitri's shoulder. Dimitri gave a bark of laughter, leaning back in the seat. "Yeah, you bet!" He said, smirking at Kedrick. And then, he added in his own thoughts. 'waaaaaay more them you know....But you will soon, I promised myself I'd tell you...but I still feel like I honestly don't want to....' Dimitri struggled for a second to keep his face neutral, he wanted to frown, to laps into silence as he thought about how he'd go about easing into it. But he shoved the train of thought into the back of his mind, resolving to forget about it until the time came when he actually did have to tell Kedrick.Kedrick turned around in the seat, looking back at the girl's and then though the back windshield to make sure he wouldn't hit anything. "Everyone buckled up?" He asked, although it was more rhetorical seeing as he was already backing out of the parking lot. None the less, he saw Dimitri nod once out of the corner of his eye. Kedrick smiled, and carefully maneuvered the car around, and soon had it out on the road, heading back to the campsite.
It didn't take long to drive back to their own comfortable campsite by the lake. Kedrick pulled his car in next to Maria's little car, and Dimitri banged up old red one. "Home sweet home..." Kedrick said quietly, a hint of a smile touching his lips. Kedrick opened his car door, stepping out and stretching, filling his lungs with the sweet, fresh air. Dimitri slid out of the car, closing the passenger side door behind him. He smiled a little as he looked around the campsite. It was good to be back, but Dimitri was getting increasingly uncomfortable as it got closer and closer to when he would have to tell Kedrick the rest of the story. He knew it would have to happen soon, he was torn between reluctance and guilt and it was driving him crazy. The dark hair boy bit his lip thoughtfully, looking around, there had to be some excuses he could use...
He saw Kedrick kneeling beside the embers of the fire, humming happily to himself as he coxed the flame back to life with stick and twigs. Beside him sat a half empty water jug. Dimitri strolled over, leaning over the other boy's shoulder. He looked between the fire that Kedrick was tending, and the water jug. "Don't you think we'll need more water?" He asked, hoping that that could be his excuses to take Kedrick aside. After all, the pump up near the shower house was rusty, and it took one person to pump and one person to hold the container.Kedrick looked down at the water jug with little interest, shaking his head. "No, I think that'll be fine to get use though for now," He said, turning back to his project and pausing a moment to blow on the coals at the base of his little triangle of wood. "besides," He continued off-handedly "I've got to get this fire going."Dimitri scowled behind Kedrick's back. 'You aren't taking the hint Kedrick, this is kind of important. If I don't tell you this right now, I think I'm going to go mad!' Dimitri pinched his lips together, and then, moving very deliberately, Dimitri picked up the water jug, and upended it over Kedrick's fire. Kedrick gave a cry of alarm as his fire was suddenly doused, leaving nothing but a steaming pile of slightly charred sticks. Kedrick turned to Dimitri in shock, unable to understand the strange mood that had suddenly seized his friend. "Dimitri!" He said in a shock, a hint of annoyance creeping into his voice. A deep frown appeared between Kedrick's browns as he looked at Dimitri who was carelessly studying the water jug. Dimitri looked at the jug, and back down at Kedrick. "Huh, looks like we're out of water," He said mildly, trying to ignore the growing looking of irritation on Kedrick's face. He looked at him with an oblivious smile. "Well, since you're not busy, come on with me and help me with the pump." Without waiting for consent form Kedrick, Dimitri took the other boys arm, pulling him to his feet, and leading him reluctantly after him.
Dimitri hesitated a moment, looking back at the girls, Maria of course would know what he was doing, but he was certain that Arielle would be questioning his strange behavior. "We'll be back in a little bit, you two can...you know, catch up, fill each other in..." If that wasn't an obvious enough hint Dimitri didn't know what was. "Come on Kedrick," He said, releasing the boy's arm. Kedrick frowned at Dimitri, and once his arm was released, moved to walk slightly in front of him. Kedrick was definitely a little miffed just now, Dimitri had only been back a grand five minutes and he was acting weird and getting Kedrick riled. He sighed softly, knowing that he shouldn't be mad at him, he just needed a few minutes to let the irritation fade.

Arielle Shore
Maria giggled and made a face at Dimitri as pulled on her hair. She inwardly frowned when Dimitri sat up in front, wanting to sit next to him, but was glad that she could be near Arielle again who sat next to her friend, her face looking a bit distant. Maria wondered what could be troubling her friend and thought that she would probably ask her about it later, knowing that if she had brought it up in the car, Kedrick would worry and she didn't want him to start panicking again.
Arielle felt Maria’s eyes on her and she turned to look at her friend, smiling like nothing was wrong. Arielle knew that face well enough though, a face meaning that Maria had sensed some kind of disturbance from her best friend. She smiled lightly when Kedrick asked if their friends were done with their little solo adventure and Arielle noticed the small, almost tense smile that was on Maria’s face. The girl saw something in her best friend’s eyes that she hadn’t seen in a while. Looks like she won’t be the only one asking questions, Arielle thought to herself, now becoming curious about if something more happened when they were separated.
“We sure are,” Maria said brightly, her face hiding any previous emotion she had when she thought back to the last couple of hours. She hoped that she hadn’t revealed anything with her facial expressions, unaware that Arielle actually noticed a change. She didn’t let it bother her too much as she thought about how she would talk to Arielle about all of the details. She relaxed in her seat and watched the scenery from out the window, something she wasn’t really able to enjoy when she was driving days before and when she had to deal with Jared.
Once they got there and the car was parked, the girls got out of the car and Maria stretched, a happy, relieved grin on her face. She never realized how much she missed being there and her eyes looked over at Arielle who was looking at her phone curiously, a troubled look on her face. What’s eating her? Maria thought, a light frown on her face.
The two girls were barely aware of Dimitri’s attempt to get Kedrick to go and leave them until Kedrick gave a cry of alarm. They left their thoughts and walked over, wondering what in the world was going on before they went over to inspect what happened. They saw that the fire had been extinguished and wondered how in the world that had managed to happen.
Maria caught on quickly, of course, and she realized that the moment had come to tell Arielle things. She nodded and mentally wished Dimitri luck, knowing that she needed it just as much as he did. She waved to them as they walked off and looked over at Arielle and looked confused for a bit but seemed to just accept it.
“Let’s go to our tent, Maria,” Arielle said with a gentle smile, holding onto her friend’s arm and guiding her to their tent. “We both need to change clothes and then we can talk, because I know you have questions for me and I have some for you.”
“Looks like my skills are rubbing off on you,” Maria said with a teasing grin, glad that Arielle was the one to bring it up. She followed her friend and they entered their tent. She looked at Arielle who went to her bags, pulling her phone out and then turned back to look at Maria as if to question who would start first. The young Hispanic teen sighed, pushed her bangs back again and gave a small smile. “I’ll start, but I’m warning you now, it’s going to be a bit of a long story.”
“Don’t worry,” Arielle said with a reassuring smile, “I don’t mind long stories. You know that.”
Maria nodded, suddenly feeling a bit nervous, but she would do her best. When she felt like she had a good way to start it, she sat down on her sleeping back and looked back at Arielle. “Well, let me start from when we got split up…”

♟♞ ♝ ♜ ♛ Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą & Ďȋɱȋŧʁȋ Ĵ. ᾟűηŧȇʁ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ Kedrick walked a few paces in front of Dimitri as they started the walk up the hill towards the shower house. Kedrick didn't say anything at the moment because he didn't trust himself not to let his frustration get the better of him. He couldn't imagine what had come over Dimitri, this was supposed to be fun! Kedrick pinched his lips together, and then released the tension with a soft sigh. He opened his mouth, about to try and make amend with Dimitri for snapping and find out what had caused the abrupt change in attitude when Dimitri interrupted."Kedrick...." Dimitri said, his voice soft, carrying mixed emotions. There was a note of apology in Dimitri's voice, but he also sounded tired, upset, and their was a touch of an old fear in his voice that Kedrick had heard there many times before.Kedrick looked back, a small frown on his face. He stopped for a second, surprised when he saw Dimitri. The other boy had stopped several paced behind him, and was looking at the ground, hugging himself tightly, fingers gripping the material of his jacket. Kedrick licked his lips nervously, there was something more going on here then just some strange mood his friend had gotten in to. "What is it Dimitri?" He asked, keeping his tone gentle as he walked down so he was more face to face with him.Dimitri looked up at Kedrick for a moment, his black eyes meeting Kedrick's green ones. His eyes looked haunted, frightened, trapped in memories again. Dimitri tried to tell himself that he had to ease into it, that he couldn't just blurt it out, but for some reason, he could find no cryptic way of putting it. "It was my parents house..." He said hoarsely, swallowing hard as he tried to continue meeting Kedrick's gaze.Kedrick's face paled and he felt like the air had been driven from his lungs. He prayed that he had misunderstood what Dimitri was trying to tell him. "What..." He asked softly, looking nearly as startled as Dimitri. Dimitri looked down, his face flushed with shame and all he wanted to do was not have to look at Kedrick's shocked expression. "It was my mom's house Kedrick," He said, his voice cracking with the strain. "I-I I made a stupid mistake, I forget that my mom took me here because it wasn't far from our house!" Dimitri drew a shuddering breath, his volume having risen slightly with the intensity of his words. Kedrick took a deep breath, running his fingers through his hair and looking away for a second, formulating his question. He looked back up, trying to meet Dimitri's gaze but his friend had his head lowered. "Was he...." He asked hestantly."Yes..." Dimitri said quietly. "He was there..."Kedrick could have swore, in fact, he nearly did, but he bit back the words before they could leave his mouth. His heart was hammering, and Kedrick could hear the blood pounding in his ears. "And you had to stay there?" He asked incredulously, unable to believe that Dimitri could bring himself to do that. Dimitri nodded mutely, unable to respond for a second. "Yeah..." He managed, "we stayed there for the night." Dimitri glanced up, seeing Kedrick's question forming on his lips. "What choice did I have?" Dimitri asked, voice cracking again. "I only realized that it was my old house once I saw it up close, I didn't know that their phone lines would be out, I though it'd be an 'in, use the phone, get out' kind of situation!...Besides..." Dimitri said with a defeated sigh, looking at the ground again. "I could make Maria stay outside all night, we had been walking all evening, and I really thought that...you know...we could have gotten back here." Dimitri trailed off lamely, rubbing his wrist, but Kedrick didn't seem satisfied yet.Kedrick bit his lip so hard that he nearly drew blood. He didn't want to make Dimitri talk about this more then he had to, but he did need to be perfectly clear on one thing. Kedrick stepped over to him, gabbing Dimitri shoulders firmly. "Dimitri. Look at me." He said shortly, and the dark hair boy reluctantly raised his eyes from the ground. Once Kedrick was sure he had his full attention, he continued, speaking slowly. "I want you to give me a simple yes, or no answer on this, understand?" Dimitri nodded hesitantly and Kedrick took a deep breath, "Did he hurt you?" Dimitri hesitated slightly, his mouth open, but no immediate answer. "Yes or no!" Kedrick demanded anxiously, his voice strained with worry, every fiber in his being screaming for an answer.Dimitri pinched his lips together, and then replied simply. "No." He said softly, and saw Kedrick's shoulders visibly sag with relief. Dimitri dropped his gaze away as Kedrick's grip became less firm on his shoulders. "No...but he sure as heck reminded me that he could." He said bitterly.Kedrick smiled sadly, dropping one hand to his side, the other placed comfortingly on Dimitri's shoulder. "The important thing is that you're okay..." He said gently and then frowned worriedly. "But, why didn't you tell me right away?" He asked anxiously. Now it was Dimitri's turn to give his friend a sad smile. "Why do you think?" He asked with a small bitter laugh. "I know you'd panic."Kedrick smiled. "Yeah, I guess I would..." He agreed, now standing right beside him as the continued up the hill. "Oh, Kedrick, one more thing..." Dimitri said slowly, looking over at him. Kedrick caught his gaze with a questioning look. "Yeah bud, what is it?"Dimitri bit his lip, looking down for a second. "I-I told her..." He started, and then realized that he may need more information. "M-Maria...I told her everything...about me, about my past, about....about Jared..." He said slowly, once again realizing that Kedrick was looking at him with a shocked expression.Kedrick stared for a second. His first instict was to laugh, and congratulate him. But then he saw the lingering hurt on his friend's face, and for the first time, fully saw just how hard it was for Dimitri to share his secret with Maria. Kedrick had never had to deal with dark, painful secrets like Dimitri and Arielle had, so he had always taken for granted how difficult letting someone in would be. But seeing Dimitri's face now, he could see that it wasn't remotely as easy as he had imagined it being.
Kedrick was suddenly at a loss for words, unable to think of anything to say to this. So, after a moment, instead of saying something, Kedrick stepped forward, pulling Dimitri into a tight hug. Dimitri rested his chin on Kedrick shoulder, hugging him in return. "I'm glad..." He said softly after a few moments of silence. "I'm glad you told her, I know it must have been hard, but I'm really proud of you..." He said quietly, pulling back.Dimitri laughed bitterly, self consciously rubbing the back of his hand across his moist eyes. "Like heck it was hard!" He said, his shoulder shaking slightly as he was caught between laughing and crying. "You realize that I haven't had to explain that to someone since I was thirteen!?"Kedrick smiled fondly at his friend. "I know, I was there remember?" He joked lightly, giving Dimitri's shoulder a gentle nudge. By now they had reached the top of the hill and Kedrick could see the water pump from where they stood. "Well," Dimitri said huskily, clearing his throat to chase away the tightness there. "there's the pump. We'd better get to work, this jug won't fill itself."Kedrick smiled at his companion. "It didn't empty itself either." He reminded him, and Dimitri smacked his shoulder with a small smile.

Arielle Shore
Arielle listened as Maria explained about how they ended up getting caught in the storm and how she and Dimitri had to go into a cave until the storm was over. She was glad that Dimitri was able to calm down Maria and was surprised that she told Dimitri the story of how her fear came to be, but was glad that things turned out for better.
When Maria reached the point where they had found the house, Arielle was realizing that what Dimitri said was matching up with what Maria was saying, except when Maria admitted that the couple's house that they were at was in fact Dimitri's parent's home and she had met his mother, Mrs. Emma, and his step father, Jared. Arielle had remembered Kedrick telling her about Dimitri's past at one point but she never had gotten the full details. She noticed how Maria's face, mainly her eyes, were filled with outrage and anger, something that she hadn't seen since the first time she told Maria about Jonesy.
What surprised Arielle most of all was just how close of a brain wavelength that both her best friend and Jared had shared, now making the girl worry about her safe being. Plus this man knows Spanish, Arielle thought, noticing the cold smile on her face. This is a different kind of hatred that I'm seeing from Maria, she added in her thoughts just as Maria switched to talking about her nightmare.
Arielle looked worriedly at Maria, knowing that nightmare barely even troubled the girl, but it must have been like her and her worries were eating her alive. She felt guilty when she told her about her thought process about not being trusted about the secret of Dimitri's past, wishing she could've told her even though it wasn't in her power to do so since it was Dimitri's past.
As Maria talked about what happened earlier that day, Arielle frowned at what kind of man Jared was. The fact that he had been able to ruin Dmitri's childhood and still have him in fear made her think of Jonesy somewhat. She was surprised at the fact that Jared had been able to find Dimitri and then remembered that they had to cancel their original dinner reservation and why Dimitri came late during the Harvest dance.
"It took me awhile to try and convince him that I wasn't going to leave him," Maria said, still remembering the amount of hurt she was beginning to feel because Dimitri was afraid he couldn't do much for her, or what he believed. "But in the end, I got him to understand that I'm not leaving his side. I told him I was going to get him out of this mess, but the only plan I can think of so far involves him having to go back and deal with Jared again. And... I can't..."
She sighed, feeling her frustration return but she sighed, shaking her head and smiled at Arielle. "But anyway, that's the full story," Maria said, finishing picking out her outfit for the day. "It seems so unreal now that I think about it and I felt like it only happened not too long ago, it seems like days."
"Well, we can worry about it later," Arielle said a small smile, finishing putting her hair into a braided bun, now going through her bag to pick out her clothes, the outfit not taking her too long to find. "At least you have a bit of an idea of what you have to deal with now."
Maria nodded, undressing from her clothes from yesterday and put on a nice lacey white cami underneath her plaid button up shirt. The two of them had fallen into a silence, but she knew that it was her turn to break it that time. "How come your phone's gotten so interesting all of a sudden, Arielle?"
Arielle paused, having only gotten halfway when she was buttoning up her gray top, her greenish kacky shorts already on. She looked at Maria and sighed, knowing that her story wasn't too long, but she knew that it would send her best friend into another round of concerns.
"I go the message this morning," Arielle started, finishing buttoning up her top and put on her black socks, sitting on her sleeping bag and opening the message to show to Maria. "At first, I thought it was you, but I remembered you didn't have your phone on you and the number was unknown, like a private number. When I read the message, I was... well.. You'll see..."
Maria took the phone and looked at the message, reading the contents of it. It wasn't rocket science for her to realize that Arielle's message was a threat, especially when it included such vulgar and demeaning planned sexual attacks on her. What was more startling was how it brought up Arielle's a**l rape from years ago, but the girl knew that it couldn't have possibly been Jonesy. There was no way her father's men would slip up and give that man a phone. She looked up and saw just how frightened Arielle was. "Have you told Kedrick yet?" Maria asked calmly, handing Arielle back the phone.
"N-No...," Arielle said, closing the message and putting her phone in her pocket, her shoes already on her feet. "I couldn't tell him that after he was so excited about knowing where you guys were... And... I just can't bring it up now, Maria. I haven't... I haven't told him about that part... I..I just couldn't... And.. Maybe it was just an accident or just one of those scary spam messages people send." Arielle knew that was probably far from the truth, but she didn't want to believe whatever this could mean for her.
Maria sighed, pulling out her phone to assess the damage of whatever missed calls or messages she had gotten while she was away, glad that it wasn't too much. She sat her phone down and fixed her hair into a decent ponytail, looking up at Arielle. "You have to tell him, Ari. There's no way that could just be a coincidence or a mistake." She looked at her friend, watching as she looked doubtful and got up to leave the tent, Maria following behind her.
"I can't tell him, Maria," Arielle said with a frown, "Not now... And... Maybe it was someone's cruel prank..." At least, I wish it was, she thought, pulling out her phone and reading the message again, the words graving into her memory and already sending horrible memories into her mind. She had no idea just how scared and frightened she was looking at that moment.

♟♞ ♝ ♜ ♛ Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą & Ďȋɱȋŧʁȋ Ĵ. ᾟűηŧȇʁ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ It didn't take too long for the pair of friends too fill the water jug, and while they did Dimitri told Kedrick that Arielle too was being filled in on the details of pretty much everything. Kedrick seemed to appreciate this, also realizing that it meant there were to be no more secrets between them. At least, there were no more secrets that Kedrick knew of just yet, after all, Arielle had yet to tell him about what had happened all those years ago with Jonsey, and about the disturbing text message she had received.
Soon the two of them were walking down the hill, the didn't talk much, but both understood that the other needed time to settle down, or, in Kedrick's case, digest the information. Dimitri glanced over at his friend with a small smile. 'Man, what would I do without him?' he wondered with a slight shake of his head. Because he had met Kedrick, Dimitri life had taken a turn for the better for the first time. He had had a friend, someone to confide in, someone who didn't mind if he cried after a brutal night at the hands of Jared. Dimitri had had a safe place go, somewhere he could play and have fun, and act his age rather then the reclusive, silent boy he had become. And it was because of Kedrick that he had met Arielle, and in turn, Maria, and that was one of the most important things.Kedrick looked over at Dimitri, who now seemed to be lost in though, but for right now, those thoughts didn't seem to be upsetting him, so Kedrick let him be. Dimitri often got drowned in thoughts of the past, stuck playing out horrific scenes over and over in his mind. But when Dimitri could think of something pleasant, with no thoughts of the past, his entire demeanor seemed to relax, and it was good to see.
The rounded the corner at the bottom of the hill and Kedrick smiled as their campsite came into his field of vision. Arielle and Maria where standing outside of the tent, and Kedrick wondered how Arielle had taken the whole story, surly it was worrying to her, who knew what it was like.
"We're back." Kedrick said, smiling as he approached the two girls. But he hesitated, seeing the expression on her face. He knew that fear and discomfort came in levels, and the level portrayed on Arielle's face was far to high to be a reaction to what she had just heard. 'More trouble?' He thought numbly, his heart sinking. 'Can't we even go camping without running into trouble?'
Kedrick swallowed uncertainly, the smiling having faded from his face. "Arielle..." He said softly, walking over to her, a concerned frown appearing between his eyebrows. "Are you alright? tell me what's the matter..." He prompted gently, touching her shoulder. Dimitri watched as Kedrick approached Arielle, he too felt a niggle of concern for the girl in the pit of his stomach and he hoped it wasn't his story that had shaken her so badly. He bit his lip uncertainly, watching as Kedrick touched her shoulder, gently prodding for an answer.
Dimitri had found over the year that he had know him, that when Kedrick wanted to comfort someone, or let them know that he cared about them, it was through physical contact. A hug, a touch on the shoulder, ruffling someone's hair, it was all ways that Kedrick showed how much he loved someone, weather that person be a friend, or Arielle. Dimitri knew this well, it had been quite a problem when they had first become friends. Dimitri had, of course, hated all physical contact, and Kedrick, wanting to show that he cared about his friend and was going to protect him at all costs, knew no other way of showing it. But in the end, that's how Dimitri had gotten used to Kedrick. He knew that Kedrick would do anything to hurt him, and yes, it took a long time, but eventually, the physical contact stooped bothering him so much.
But now, Dimitri could see the open concern on Kedrick's face. Kedrick was pretty good with timing, and he could tell when it was, or wasn't the right time to acquire an explanation. And he was gently pushing for an explanation right now. Like Dimitri, Kedrick was fairly well done with secrets, he wanted everything out in the open, no matter what it was.

Arielle Shore
"Just how long are you going to hide it from him, Arielle?" Maria asked her, a disapproving frown on her face. "He's going to find out at some point and it's better to let him know know when the situation is starting before it gets worse, just like with Jonesy."
"He found out about Jonesy on accident! He was never supposed to know!" Arielle exclaimed, surprised at how angry she was. She sighed and shoved her phone back into her pocket, her fear showing again.
"Well if Kedrick never found out about that so called accident, you'd be missing right now!" Maria screamed back, glaring at her friend angrily before looking away. The air became all tense and Maria was glad when the boys finally came back from refilling the water. There was no way that Arielle could avoid telling Kedrick the truth, no matter how much she wanted to do so.
When Kedrick and Dimitri came back, Arielle wasn't able to quickly hide her facial expression so that Kedrick wouldn't catch on. She knew that Maria was right in that she should tell him, but how could she just say she had received a threatening text message without first explaining the deeper meaning of the message.
"I-I''m fine," Arielle answered hesitantly, not even attempting to look at him. She could already feel Maria's disappointed eyes on her and knew that she was in trouble. But what else could so do? The truth seemed so hard and impossible to do right now.
"Ari," Maria said sternly, her arms crossed against her chest, "If you don't tell Kedrick about it, I will, and I rather you tell your boyfriend all of the missing pieces that you haven't filled him in on yet. First starting with your phone."
Arielle stared at Maria, her eyes shooting angrily and fearfully, before she reluctantly pulled out her phone, once again bringing up the message and placing it in his hand. She still could barely look at him, even barely spoke to him, but she would just wait until he read it and then she would tell. I'm so sorry boys, Arielle thought sadly, wishing that the day could've continued on being somewhat positive.

♟♞ ♝ ♜ ♛ Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą & Ďȋɱȋŧʁȋ Ĵ. ᾟűηŧȇʁ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ Kedrick pinched his lips together as Arielle said that she was alright. It wasn't the truth, Kedrick could tell. "secrets...more secrets, can't we just be done with this? Don't you know that no matter what you tell me, that I'll still love you?' Kedrick wondered numbly. He wished his could have said it out loud, but Maria was speaking now.
He stared at her, wondering what she was talking about 'Missing pieces...oh Arielle....' He thought, his heart aching. 'what haven't you told me?' Kedrick took the phone slowly as she placed it in his hand, looking suspicious, as though the phone might bite him. He turned it over, lowing is eyes reluctantly to the screen, did he really want to see what was there?Dimitri stepped over hesitantly, knowing that he should see this to, but still feeling uncertain. He leaned over Kedrick shoulder, frowning as he tried to read the small words on the screen of the text message. As Kedrick read the message displayed on Arielle's phone, all the color drained from his face. He felt like he was missing something, like someone had played a cruel joke that he hadn't been in on. This message sounded like something Jonsey would write, but the man was in jail, it was impossible! And whoever had written this message, seemed to be referring to something else, something Kedrick didn't want to believe. That Jonsey had, at one point, assaulted Arielle. Dimitri, also white faced, read the message. This kind of threat sent familiar messages to his brain, familiar, and terrible. He knew what this kind of threat was like, he knew the terror that Arielle must be feeling. He looked up at the girl slowly, looking at her face for a moment as Kedrick continued to try and digest the message. They where more alike then he had thought. Dimitri had come to the same conclusion as Kedrick as to what the message meant. Dimitri had imagine that Arielle had always managed to keep herself away from the men who would hurt her, but from the sound of the text message, this wasn't quite true. Arielle had been in the same position he had, she knew exactly what he was talking about.Kedrick's hand tightened on the phone, his eyes riveted on the message. He was unable to tear his eyes away from the disturbing words. He could feel Dimitri standing just beside his left shoulder, undoubtedly also reading the same thing. Slowly, he managed to look up, seeing the look of fear, and pain on Arielle's face. "Arielle..." He said softly, trying hard to keep his voice controlled. "Arielle, I want to know everything, don't leave out anything, no more secrets....please..." He begged softly.

Arielle Shore
Arielle was silent as Kedrick and Dimitri read the message, her stomach churning at how they reacted to it. She still wasn’t proud of it, not one bit, but had she done what she originally had planned to do, someone would end up getting hurt again, which was something she didn’t want at all.
She looked up at Dimitri as he looked at her, and there was once again that look of understanding. Now that more of the truth was coming to light, she could understand that both she and Dimitri honestly did share some of the same anxieties that not a lot of normal kids their age would have to deal with. Still, there were some differences, but too many similarities that would be hard to consider it a coincidence of fates.
Maria also watched, not sure what to feel right now. Her eyes were slightly more focused on Dimitri and wondering how he was dealing with it before looking at Kedrick, who looked like he was in a bad dream that he wanted to wake up from before realizing the nightmare was real. So many nightmares are truths, she thought with a frown. There was the fact that Jared had threatened her life if she had gotten involved, that someone from Arielle’s past was trying to threaten her as well, it was just too much to deal with first thing in the morning.
She then looked over to Arielle who looked so hurt right then and Maria wondered if she should’ve given the matter a day or two before confronting the boys about it. I guess I’m just completely on edge nowadays, she cruelly joked in her thoughts, slipping back into the tent to get her phone. She had to call her father back at some point, plus, once the explanation was done, she was sure that they were going to need him to visit Jonesy. “That man has a lot of questions to answer,” she muttered to herself, looking for her things before she felt something she didn’t remember before. The sight of a grin appeared on her face and she almost wanted to burst out laughing. Oh papa, Maria thought with a small genuine smile.
Arielle watched as Maria left into her tent and she felt most of her support disappear. How could she tell them both without breaking down into hysterics? The sound of Kedrick’s voice made her finally look up at him and feel guilty for what she had done. Had she not hidden from Kedrick that one itty bitty fact, maybe her guilt would’ve disappeared. However, she also thought that it would’ve never come to light like that and that she would be completely fine. Sadly, I thought wrong, Arielle thought with a sad sigh, trying to calm herself down.
She heard a rustle in her shared tent and saw Maria come out with her phone in her hand, reading through all her message. What Arielle saw, and what the boys didn’t see, was the hilt that was sticking out slightly from behind her shirt and Arielle almost wanted to question her friend but knew that she would ask later.
“Well…,” Arielle begun lamely, still trying to get all her thoughts together. She never thought it would be that hard to explain it. “The night it happened was also the same night when Maria found out, only there was about…no, there was definitely a seven hour gap between it all.” She was rubbing at her arm nervously, not even looking at the boys or Maria, especially because she wouldn’t be able to tell the story without feeling like she was going to explode.
“Jonesy had called me in one evening for a sort of a meeting,” Arielle continued, trying to keep all of her emotions in check, “He would always decide that sometime in the month he would want to check up on me and scold me for not complying to his men’s demands. Which also, depending on how much my…employers…made a show of things, I would be severely punished… Luckily for me, we were on Spring Break so I didn’t have to worry about people from school and the rumors they had or whatever…”
She paused, rubbing her other arm now. She knew that there wasn’t really a lot to tell about the background information, but she knew she couldn’t go straight into it with the memory coming over her rapidly. All of a sudden her back seemed to hurt, but she knew it was just her imagination messing with her. Most of the scars on her back had faded fairly well, especially the longer one that was like a diagonal slash down most of her back.
“Well, I guess the news he heard disappointed him because he was calmly stern when he talked to me,” Arielle continued, her body trembling at what that meant. “When he was like that, there was no denying he was thinking of some other twisted way to put me in pain. He talked and said that unlike the other girls, I was pretty special because I was still a virgin and a fighter for that to stay that way, which other girls weren’t. The men he paired me up with, they always tried to convince me, but they never could accomplish that anyway. Only because I harmed them before they could harm me.”
“However, there was one gentleman that Jonesy paired me up with who completely exaggerated what I had done to him. All I did was knock the wind out of him with the end of a broom and kicked him hard in between his legs. The man made it seem like I was out to try and kill him since day one, even though I barely even touched him until he felt like he was bold and tried pulling up my skirt when I was cooking,” she frowned, feeling like all of those men at that point in her life might as well meld together and be the same being, even though some were completely different.
Maria felt a small smile tug on her lips as she imagined Arielle defending herself from the man. She still couldn’t see Arielle as some kind of student under martial arts, her sweet and kind side overpowering the fact that she could, if honestly tested, fight back with enough force. It then reminded her that she could ask Arielle to help her learn as well. Knowing that Jared had become her enemy, she didn’t want to let him overpower her.
She saw her friend stop talking, wondering if she was now getting scared of what else she had to say. A memory of two years wasn’t probably the one thing she wanted to think about, especially when it was all coming out in a way that was probably not expected or wanted. Eventually, Maria saw Arielle take a deep breath before she continued on with her story.
“Anyway,” Arielle continued, finally looking up for a few brief seconds, no longer rubbing her arm but her hand just holding onto it at that point, “He talked about how he wouldn’t have to be so mean to me if I wasn’t being so stubborn. Then he rambled on some more about other things that I honestly didn’t care about. He noticed that and stopped talking, letting the silence build for some time before he walked over to me and clenched my chin, this awful sneer on his face before he whispered in my ears something I wish I never knew.”
Her body shuddered again and she felt a flash go through her back, knowing that it was more anxiety than actual pain. She closed her eyes, making sure she could remember the words. “He said, ‘You know, there isn’t just one virginity for a girl, Arielle. Unlike us men, they have more than one place where we men can enjoy ourselves. So today, I’m going to take another virginity that you never thought of. Maybe this will make you reconsider your actions, sweet child.’ I didn’t know what he meant… I’m fourteen and confused about what he meant, thinking that he was just messing with me to mess with me… But, I was soon wrong…”
Maria was flabbergasted at the tone of Arielle’s voice when she quoted Jonesy. It was cold and cruel, and she felt like she had matched it well, surprisingly well. Some of what Arielle had said was also a first for the young girl, so she shared some of the boys surprised horror.
“He didn’t do it immediately, oh no,” Arielle said, a frown appearing on her face, a look of hatred and pain in her eyes, “He told me that if he did it immediately, it wouldn’t be a surprise. So, he took me to his “fun room”, as he so calls it, and had another whirl of his latest…. “toys”. A bunch of whips that he got from the black market and some hot iron that time… He left a lot of scars and burns on my back. Maria, if you please…”
Maria blinked in surprise as Arielle called her out to show the guys where it was. She watched as Arielle turned around and Maria pulled up her shirt. “There was a long one here,” Maria said as she pointed to the top of Arielle’s left shoulder, letting her finger travel along her friends back until she reached the middle of her friend’s right hip. “And it ended here. It was about…two…three inches wide and not that deep either. And there were a couple of whip marks and burns around the rest of her back. None of them as bad as the first one… You can barely see them now, but they were there…”
Both girls knew that it was the first time that either of the boys heard about one of some of the scars left by Jonesy in such detail. They knew that they were aware of how abusive Jonesy had been to Arielle, but none of them had ever seen any leftover remains of the abuse.
Arielle pulled her shirt back down, and turned to look at the boys. She was almost done with the tale, and she wasn’t sure what was going through their minds at that moment. She pushed some hair back before she continued. “During the middle of that… That was when Jonesy raped me… And that was when I learned about what he meant by…another virginity…”
She didn’t have to go into detail about what she meant, knowing that Kedrick and Dimitri, especially Dimitri, understood what she meant. She felt herself rubbing her arm again not even wanting to know what they looked like, especially Kedrick. Just knowing the expression on her boyfriend’s face broke her heart and again she felt guilty because she hid this from him.
“When he was done…, he dropped me off somewhere and I ended up walking back to Maria’s home by myself,” Arielle said, “It was then that Maria found out when she was bringing me a change of clothes. After that night, Jonesy did it again five more times. Some of them lasting for hours and he wouldn’t stop until I admitted that I…that I…enjoyed it… So even if Dimitri and I shared the same experience about being anally raped, Dimitri never had to worry about being drugged or having drugs inserted inside there just to make things easier on his part... Of being called trash…whore…slut…derogatory terms that were insulting and out of my name…”
Her body shook again and she stared hard at the ground, knowing that she was either sobbing or on the verge of crying. If there was one thing that shamed her, it was the fact that she had let Jonesy do that to her that shamed her of all.
“The reason why I never told you this, Kedrick, was because after I was drugged and kidnapped to the Pet Shop, I blocked all of those memories deep into my mind so I never had to look back on them again,” she said, her voice getting somewhat quieter as she tried to stop herself from crying so he could hear her, “But things happened and my past started to rear its ugly head. Now this message… I don’t know who sent it, but I’m honestly scared… And… I’m so sorry, Kedrick…”
Maria looked at her friend sadly and knew that she should hug her, but also knew that Kedrick probably wanted his time to be with her. She used that time to pull out her phone and held onto it, waiting until they were all ready for her to call her father. She walked over to Dimitri and held onto his hand, not sure why she did it, but just wanted to hold onto him. “Every truth ends up coming to light in the end,” Maria mumbled to herself, not sure if anyone heard her or not. At that point, she honestly hoped that they could all move away from their depressing moments and still enjoy their trip.

♟♞ ♝ ♜ ♛ Ҝәɖʁϊϲҝ Ś. Śűѿą & Ďȋɱȋŧʁȋ Ĵ. ᾟűηŧȇʁ ♛ ♜ ♝ ♞ ♟ Kedrick looked into Arielle's eyes anxiously as she began to speak, searching her gaze for anything she might be holding back. Kedrick wasn't truly upset that Arielle had hidden something from him, but he was upset that this thing she had hidden was endangering her. If there was something, or in this case someone, who posed any threat to Arielle, he wanted to know about it, and he wanted to protect her.
The first mention of Jonsey's name made Kedrick's jaw tighten, and a surge of hatred ran through him, but he kept focused on her words none the less. The seething hatred that had bubbled to like inside Kedrick grew as she continued, but for a moment, Kedrick felt a bare hint of a smile tugging at his lips. She told them about what she had done to back of the man Jonsey had paired her with, and Kedrick almost wanted to laugh. His dear, sweet Arielle could take care of herself. But the impulse to laugh, and even the smile was lost on him as Arielle fell into silence. She was worried, and scared, Kedrick could tell. Dimitri too listened carefully to what Arielle said, his hands in loose fist by his sides. As Arielle retold Jonsey's words, Dimitri felt his entire body stiffen, he knew what was coming, although he had hoped that it wasn't the truth. Her words also carried a different meaning to Dimitri and he vaguely wondered if their was another meaning to what Jonsey had said. 'Unlike men...' He though in the back of his mind. 'Dose that mean Jonsey is like Jared as well? Has he destroyed the lives of other young boys like me as well as girls like Arielle?' the thought was a disturbing one, and Dimitri pushed it away, because now, mixed with the anger, Dimitri felt a twinge of fear of this man. Kedrick swallowed stiffly, keeping his anger in check. Kedrick was normally very good about always keeping any anger he felt under careful retrain. But Jonsey undid all of that. Kedrick's hands clenched in helpless anger as Arielle spoke of the scars that Jonsey had given her. But at the same time, surprise mingled with his fear as she actually moved to show them.
Kedrick watched Maria's movements as she traced her fingers along Arielle's back, showing the locations of the scars and burns. His face paled in sicked Anger as he saw the extent of what Jonsey had done to his beloved Arielle. He could see the fain scars to Maria was pointing out, and his had no trouble believing the story.Dimitri looked as well, but he felt uncertain, like his should look away, or cover his eyes. It seemed so...private, like he shouldn't be intruding. But he looked none the less, swallowing stiffly. What she said next hit Dimitri like a punch to the gut. He had been preparing himself to hear it, but it had blindsided him none the less.
There were a few people in the word that Dimitri genuinely hated. The top of the list, was Jared. Dimitri hated Jared like he would never, ever hate another human being in his life, the hurt Jared had inflicted on him was deep, and personal, and no one would ever take that top position. Until recently, the next on the list, and been himself, because Dimitri hated himself nearly as much as he hated Jared. But now, Jonsey had usurped that 'second place' position, something Dimitri hadn't thought was possibly. Kedrick could hardly stand what he was hearing, a soft groan escaped his lips and he lowed her head. How? How could someone be so wicked? Of course Jonsey was the second person Kedrick had thought this about, and still it made him wonder, how any of them was he going to run into in his lifetime? The people that abused, and hurt the closest people in the word to him, just far enough back in their past that he could do nothing to change it. He could only effect what happens to them now, and try to keep them from getting hurt any more. Dimitri's head jerked up as she said that Jonsey had done it five more times. His pale cheeks flushed with anger, but he kept himself from saying anything. Wasn't once enough? More then Enough!? Hadn't he caused enough damage in this girl's life already? Of course, Dimitri knew that it became like an addiction, a bad addiction. Once that person had hurt someone once, they don't want to stop, and sometimes that 'addiction' could spread to their victim, causing that person to want more of exactly what they hated most. Dimitri knew, he had fought being like that his entire life.
Dimitri pinched his lips together tightly, once again forcing himself not to talk. To rape someone was one thing, but to try and make then like it was totally different. It was sick. Jared had never made any pretenses of wanting Dimitri to enjoy the abuse, physical, or sexual. No, Jared wanted Dimitri to hate it, to hate him, after all, that was half the fun. As Arielle finished her explination, Kedrick swallowed. He didn't speak for a second, organizing his thoughts, trying to find a place in his mind for this new information. Kedrick already had some much in his mind that a young man his age shouldn't have to think about. But he had been sentenced to that when he was thirteen, the very day he had met Dimitri.
Slowly, the boy looked up, meeting Arielle's gaze. He walked over, placing one hand on her arm, and the other, he touched gently under her chin, tipping her face up, the concern and worried evident in his eyes. "I understand..." He said softly, reaching up his other hand to stroke the hair back from her face. "I know you're scared, but I'm going to help you, just like before, and this time, I'm noting going to let anything happen to you. From now on, until we find this guy and put him in jail, I'm going to stay right by your side, understand? I'm not going to leave you for anything." Kedrick breathed a soft sight, his word having become fierce and passionate with emotion. He allowed his shoulders to relax, and he pulled Arielle into a gentle hug, holding her there for some time. Dimitri looked over, nearly jumping in surprise when Maria too his hand. The boy had been lost in his own thoughts, digesting the information he had been given. He looked over at her, and forced a small smile. This whole business was almost too much for Dimitri, too much to take in at one time. He had just escaped the threat of Jared, and now he was learning of a new threat that targeted Arielle, putting her in danger. Dimitri nodded, catching her murmured words. "You're right..." He said softly, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. "No more secrets..."
