"Very likely," Haradhel nodded. "However, I believe that she would be more likely to part with him willingly as long as he were exploring only in this world, and not in yours, because if he were to get lost in this world or something were to happen, he would at least be able to be found again ... in your world, I believe, less so ... or at least in his mother's eyes."
She only wished her own parents had been that way with her, but they - or rather, her father - had simply sent her away so that they wouldn't have to be bothered with her.

"But he wouldn't go anywhere, where we haven't been in our world," Lin murmured, "Oh well.... it is a long time I visit and it is a long time since the last time we've seen each other. For him anyways. Do you think she would let him go sailing around in this world then?"
She hoped not, otherwise that might be a problem.

"I can't say for certain, but I think she would," Haradhel replied thoughtfully. "I mean ... she would be hesitant to let him do something so dangerous ... but at the same time, it is at least still in this world, so she might. Though from his name ..."
She raised her eyes to the sky and nodded to herself. "Yes, I think she would let him."

"Huh?"
Lin looked confused, since she didn't understand what a name had to do with it.
"What do you mean by that?"

"The most famous mariner in our history ... the only mariner in our history, I should say, was named Earendil as well," Haradhel explained. "He is the subject of many legends ... and songs, though I'm no singer. Sir Valdemar, I'm sure, could tell you more about him. Anyways, Lady Luthien named her son after a famous mariner, so it can come as no surprise if he wants to explore the seas. There's even the possibility that Prince Earendil might be his rebirth ... anything is possible, after all, and no one knows what happened to the ancient mariner."

"No one knows?" Lin blinked thinking about it.
Maybe he went away in sea and no one found him again. Maybe she should ask Sir Valdemar about it.
"I will ask!"

Haradhel grinned at Lin's enthusiasm. "I'm glad!" she said sincerely. "Because now I'm curious to know what happened to him as well! And Sir Valdemar would be the most likely to know, since he of course is the oldest elf I know, and he's a historian on top of it."

"Is it much further?" Celebor asked, trying not to sound whiny as he tugged on Haradhel's hand to get her attention. "'Cos it was a long way up and it's a long way to where we're going and I'm tired ..."
He paused.
"Where are we going, anyways?"

"Well we're going to where people are training.. I think," Lin mused in a pause.
While making a note to find Sir Valdemar later.

"Yes, that's right," Haradhel agreed. "It's just around the corner here, Celebor, don't worry. We're almost there."
Indeed, the sounds of training could start to be heard: shouts, rustling, and once in a while, weapons being hit against the ground, or other weapons.

"Oh!" Celebor grinned. "That's good." And, heartened once again, he walked tall and proud next to his future aunt's side.

Lin giggled as she peeked over to see any sign of anyone she might know. Though she didn't know any of the soldiers and very few of the guards. Though her guard (as she had dubbed the man holding her) might be training today instead of on duty, or he might be on duty. She didn't know since she was not allowed to stalk Ruel during her visit.
Then again she looked forward to talking to the captain again, and Earendil might be up here.

Eldrin was indeed up on the mountaintop, training as usual. He stood in front of row upon row of trainees, using an arm-length wooden staff to lead them all in their training routine. Despite the fact that it was only mid-morning, he, as well as each of the trainees, was topless and glistening with sweat.
Every time he changed his stance, he shouted out a command which was repeated by his trainees as they also copied his movements, and the manner in which it was all done looked almost as if he were teaching them a choreograph.

As they turned the corner and Celebor's eyes grew wide at the sight of so many men training.
"Neat!" he exclaimed loudly, grinning broadly. "Can I do that, too? Who's that guy in the front? Is he the one training them?"

Haradhel laughed and set Lin on the ground next to Celebor.
"Yes, that's Captain Eldrin," she told him, kneeling next to him and Lin. "He trains all of the Home Guard, including myself, despite the fact that I'm not going to join them as I had once hoped. He is also Lady Luthien's brother, Prince Earendil and Prince Daeron's uncle."
