If all the villages stopped preparing for battle during peacetime, there wouldn't be a need for entire ninja villages.
Each village is essentially its own Sparta.

...and the Leaf Village is run by a senile old fart...
Mist Village earned the nickname before the first plot and after the series ended. Warui kept calling it the "Bloody Mist" because of the attack they did that impacted him so heavily.

I did something I shouldn't have and now i'm scarred for life.
I went to www.Familywatchdog.us
It's a place where enter your street address and find out how many sexual predators live in your neighborhood.
The results were..
297 offenders
10 non-mappable offenders
IT EVEN SHOWS THEIR PICTURE AND THE CRIME! DX
ALL OF THEM ARE CHILD RAPISTS AND SEXUAL PREDATORS! Same thing..
We live right by a school too...
Ya know...Moving to Washington doesn't sound as bad now.

Well, in the last plot- the introduction thread in Mist was titled 'the Bloody Mist' XD
And actually~ I've kinda been toying with the thought of having the Mizukage bring back that old graduation exam~ ninja
