whiporwill-o i always wanted to learn to belly dance, but i was told that my tummy is too flat for it. emo Really? I was always told I had too much belly to belly dance. rofl

I was always told I had too much belly to belly dance. rofl Alright...think your tummy is too flat? Youtube Rachel Brice and Didem. Think you're too fat? Look up Fat Chance Belly Dance. Examples are biased a bit toward tribal style belly dance, but those names are the ones that come to mind. I've seen a lot of belly dance vids on youtube, and great dancers come in all shapes and sizes. This obsession with "the right body to do x" has got to stop. There are no rules for this, except medical guidelines put forth by your doctor after a checkup. Common opinion is almost always bs based on ignorance and I will definitely not support something that can be poisonous enough to make someone hate themselves for who they are and squash their motivation. If you want to belly dance, do it. It's so much fun, and a great work out. It also can make you feel sexy as hell and get you more comfortable in your own skin. I highly recommend it. razz For motivation I often watch a bellydance playlist I made on youtube. Check it out if you like, my username is sednonsatia on there.

I think my favorite group is Zafira, though, although my friend just made Blue Lotus Tribes student troupe. So proud of her. I'm starting Cane dancing next thursday, and I'm working on my next solo for our showcase in Feb.

What style of belly dance? Student Pagan Organization. It's a teaching organization on campus. We go over all sorts of things, depending on what the group wants to learn at the time. We went over Greek mythology and different styles of divination last year. Last semester we went over different types of magic work. Don't know what we're going to go over this semester. I suggested kitchen witchery. And I'm not sure what style, actually. Sarah and Windy did some stuff at the new year party we had, and I caught some of it on video. They tried teaching me a little at the party. Jamie is the president and Mikel is vice, so if I ever mention their names here, that's who I'm talking about. We're a very close knit group.
