Oh yeah, they're some ballistic monsters nowdays... ;0
wtf, typo :'D
Meant to say they his on 5+ wth BS2 :'3
Anywho, if you dislike rokkits then get tankbustas, a whole unit of rokkits, they're bound to hit something and/or smash some tanks. But if you're going for dakka then big shootas are your best friends. :B
But a hint from me is to use atleast 2 or 3 footslogging rokkits in your warband/waaagh, since buggies tend to go kaboom easilly with armour 10 and open toped.
A question needs it's place too, I'm curious on if you're going for a specific clan, a tribe (units from different clans in one army) or a warband of freebooters (your own clan), always fun to know~

Well ever since I got into the game in 3rd edition with armegeddon, Ive liked speed freeks, and to a lesser extent feral orks (though theyre pretty much gone).
Anyways, I had never really pinned down to one clan or tribe or whatever, but before actually gluing or painting anything from the stuff I have I intend to sit down with the codex and start reading fluff.
Anyways, I may do tankbustas, but Id be mounting them in something to keep that speed freek feel.

Then a looted wagon should do. :B
It might not be fast, but it can transport them~
Otherwise upgrading ALL vehicle weaponry to rokkits is also a choice. Just like you I'm rather fond of the speed freaks, all 1000pts or less games I play are with speed freak based lists.
But as it seems you'll have fast stuff, powerclaws would be welcome by you. Smash vehicles they can, and other stuff.
Think of a biker mob of Nobz, say 5-6 of them, having 2 powerclaws in the mob, and maybe add another biker if you can have a panboy in the mob, I'm not sure if the painboy can take the upgrade since he's not a nob anymore per-see when he's upgraded, it's like a veteran sergant can't take a heavy weapon... I need to get to the bottom with this... Cybork Nob Bikers... It's almost as awesome as cybork gretchins... >:3

I dont know if Id want to go that points heavy for a unit, though you could model them as cyborks with track wheels for legs, which I think they even mentioned in one of the unit descriptions.
Anyways, I intend to abuse power claws, the nob squad, even the shooty, squad, and especially at least one on a deffkopta squad.
I do want to take a nob squad on bikes so I can fill a troops spot with bikes, and the other with the trukk boyz giving it that speed freek feel. Id also probably rather use, a battlewagon than a looted vehicle. The deffkoptas seem like a nice anti tank unit if equipped with rokkits or mega blastas.
In general actually, it looks like they gave the orks more of an edge on armor, I remember most ork armies I took on before being easily raped by any tanks no matter how much they rocked in hand to hand.

Deffkoptas... I seriously hope that they'll make models for them since the one from the GorkaMorka range sucks major fungus, otherwise if one's good with plasticard I know you can make "jetbike" lookalikes from Star Wars, having scythes infront of it. :B
Since you plan on bikes for troops I belive you're after Wazdakka?
I hope they'll release a model, since he'd be too hard to build proppa to be honest, but not impossible. o:
Anyways, bout Ork special characters, now there's greens out of Zagstruk from da Vulcha Boyz.
He's a nifty model, and I so NEED him, think of it, charging after a deepstrike AND his powerclaw feet strikes in I order.
I'll get the pictures soon, need to work now... o 3o;;

I may use wazdakka rules, and model something else that "counts as". But ultimately Im planning this out based on just using a normal warboss on bike.
Thank you for mentioning star wars "swoops". I had been thinking of looting some land speeder pieces I had about, but modeling them on swoop bike styled contraptions would be pretty awesome, and keep the bike feel. That and it wouldnt take much materials wise.
But as for Zagstruk and whatnot, as Im not a big special character user, I dont consider him an option either. The only special characters Ive ever used, and even then sparingly, are pheonix lords. I own a Chaplain Xavier, but thats more just because I felt I might as well buy the model if Im making Salamanders, otherwise Ive never actually used him in a game.

I got the pictures of the "Deff-jets" my friend have assembled, using plasticard and Space Marine Bikes. Quite simple to build, just cut and glue and wether the plates a bit. Also if you're going to convert a bike for a "warboss" I suggest either heavilly convert the former Warbike OR make one from a Wartrak, like this one. (linked to it before) http://www.the-waaagh.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28521&hl=nitpakThe bike shouldn't be TOO hard to replicate, I'm thinking of doing this myself, but not go as far as greenstuffing a while warboss, maybe just his legs since it'll be hard to fit him on otherwise. n_n;;;

It would be kinda hard to make a Warboss on a bike because most known Warboss odels are made from Metal... A warboss in a Trukk would suffice...
Better yet... Get him in a Battle Wagon and make it so he can ove effortlessly thru the field... A Kill Kannon does wonders!

I had considered using a wartrakk, but I also thought of just buying a box of warbikes and using them to make one massive one, and the rest of the bits for any "swoop" bike things.
God damn though those WIP images, especially the bolts, pistons and wires for that warboss.

Shadow Prince: But a bike gives him a cover save, 4+ save AND +1 Toughness, so it's way cooler than putting him in a trukk as well as you won't be able to use a boss in a trukk as a "count as" Wazzdakka Gutsmek. Also I don't find it hard to convert models in metal, simple as pie really, all you need is a good saw. :3 Also I disagree, a battlewagon with killcannon isn't worth the points, it miught be cool, but it only have range 24" AND makes the already expensive battlewagon even MORE expensive, the looted wagon does the work better, putting it in some trench or besides a big mek with kostum force field, just because the battle wagon have armour 14 it doesn't mean it's invulnerable, plus it's open topped (no one want an 'ard case battle wagon since it won't be able to let the transported models assult if they do get towards the enemy) it will most likely be shot down since the enemy see it as a threat, plus it's slow, 12" movement, also if it gets shot into bits you'll be auto-pinned. Now giving it a lobba or a kannon oughta do it, and 4 big shootas, well that's my thought about it anyways. :0 Anyways, the promised Zagstruk models... :B Sorry if the pictures seem big ;0

Theyre not stretching the window, so no, theyre not too big. And I have to say that is a very nice model.
I like storm boys fluff wise, but theyre just not something Id see myself fielding as much as I enjoy theyre background.

I've never really liked them, in the old fluff they were boring, but now in the new when most of them are yoof orks who are eager to join the battle, as well as most of the storm boyz "regimentz" are living far away form the ork society.
Also I like the new Zagstruk, I might field him, but I belive I'll go for Snikrot instead. A 5 (maybe all 10, but I don't know yet biggrin ) man strong kommando unit, having 2 rokkit launchas, and snikrot, entering play from behind the enemy to fire at the rear of the tanks, all depending on the enemy too. :0
If facing Chaos I belive I'd take the stormboyz with Zagstruk.
Edit: Also just to add, I'm not really fond of the new way they make the ork faces, they seem "flat" and "broader" than the usual look, just look at Zaggy here, I am thinking of switching his head to a Black Orc head, there's a helmetless one with only one eye, just greenstuffing a bionik eye to him and sculpt him a nice new cap and voila~

As I just read in the 3rd edition codex they're just crazy orks, to quote "Stormboyz are fierce Ork Warriors who gamble with their lives (and their sanity) by strapping on crude Ork rokkit packs to blast them towards the enemy" who wants to get into close combat faster, haven't read much about them in 2nd edition so I wouldn't know about things back then. o 3o;
And by reading through the book I didn't find anything more about stormboyz.
