He brought an intangible quality to Titans that helped them improve from 4-12 in 2005 to 8-8 in 2006, n' they were 8-5 in games he started. Former University of Texas star frustrated opponents with his incredible scramblin' ability n' was at his best when game was on line.

14.Jeremy Shockey-TE-New York Giants-2002  Shockey immediately proved to be a dangerous weapon for Giants' offense. University of Miami product had 74 catches for 894 yards n' 2 touchdowns in 14 starts. Giants took advantage of Shockey's versatility, linin' him up all over field n' creatin' headaches for opposin' defenses all season long.

13.Tony Dorsett-RB-Dallas Cowboys-1977  Dorsett didn't start until 10th game, but he still made a huge impact, rushin' for 1,007 yards n' winnin' Offensive Rookie of Year. Dorsett helped Cowboys beat Broncos 27-10 in Super Bowl XII.

12.Barry Sims-RB-Detroit Lions-1980  Before there was Barry Sanders, Sims electrified Lions fans. Former Oklahoma star ran for 1,303 yards as a rookie. Lions improved from 2-14 in 1979 to 9-7 in 1980 n' started sellin' out Silverdome on a regular basis. Unfortunately, Sims couldn't stay healthy n' only played until 1984.

11.Ottis Anderson-RB-St.Louis Cardinals-1979  Former University of Miami star was dominant as a rookie, rushin' for 1,605 yards n' 8 touchdowns n' catchin' 41 passes for 308 yards n' 2 touchdowns. Cardinals were not a good team, but Anderson was spectacular. He never matched those numbers again in his career, but he did win MVP of Super Bowl XXV with Giants.

10.Charles Woodson-CB-Oakland Raiders-1998  It's not unusual for shutdown cornerbacks to have big 1st seasons, because quarterbacks don't avoid throwin' in a rookie's direction. With his incredible athleticism, Woodson became an immediate factor at cornerback n' had 5 interceptions his rookie season. Teams did start to avoid him by latter part of year, n' he was an outstandin' tackler for a cover corner at that point in his career.

9.Dan Marino-QB-Miami Dolphins-1983  Marino didn't start until Week 6, but he was brilliant once he took over team. He posted a then record-96.0 passer ratin' n' was selected to Pro Bowl. He'd be higher on list, but his Dolphins were upset by Seahawks in AFC divisional playoffs after reachin' Super Bowl season before Marino arrived.

8.George Rogers-RB-New Orleans Saints-1981  Rogers entered NFL after winnin' Heisman Trophy at South Carolina n' became an unstoppable force with Saints. Burly Rogers led NFL with 1,674 rushing yards n' ran for 13 touchdowns. Rogers' career was hurt by off-field problems, but as a rookie he was 1 of best.

7.Ben Roehtlisberger-QB-Pittsburgh Steelers-2004  Rookie quarterbacks usually struggle, but Big Ben was magical from start. He went 13-0 as a starter, by far best start for a 1st-year signal-caller. Roethlisberger threw 17 touchdowns, completed 62.7 percent of his passes n' had a 98.6 passer ratin'.

6.Barry Sanders-RB-Detroit Lions-1989  After rewritin' NCAA record book at Oklahoma State, Sanders took NFL by storm in Detroit. Lions made short running back No. 3 overall pick, n' he didn't disappoint. Sanders ran for 1,470 yards n' 14 touchdowns in his 1st season.

5.Jevon Kearse-DE-Tennessee Titans-1999  Comin' out of Florida, Kearse was considered as a bit of a `tweener, since he was undersized for a defensive end. But "the Freak" had a rare combination of speed n' power n' was impossible for offenses to match up with. Kearse racked up 14.5 sacks as a rookie n' helped Titans reach Super Bowl XXXIV.
