Damien heard the careful dulcet tones picking up nearby as others began to join in the song. and saw that the place he just polished was adorned with a new pins and looked up at Xiu and Lattice, whom he thought was Needle, offering her own sympathy to the others as the song grew and grew.
If anything it gave him the strength to continue to hum louder and to polish more.

"I wonder how much of her we can bring back...I wish we could bring all of it." But there was too much. They couldn't bring it all back even if every single student carried back an arm load of her. Ugh. This sucked. She resumed humming, carefully chipping away at the cracking horn.
Xiu came up to put a hand on her shoulder and she paused, looking up at the ghoul. She paused in her chipping to lean her head down and press her lips against Xiu's hand, leaving a kiss there before she leaned in to resume her work. She wasn't pushing Xiu away..the touch to her shoulder was very nice. How long had it been since she'd been hugged before Bul just now? ******** 2, roll 2 -- Horn))

This wasn't a field for Red to rest in. If it was a field of victory, that would have been an entirely different story. Her statue could have remained htere proudly, showcasing to the world what they had done. (That would of had bad after effects though for some scavenging archaeologist.)
He looked critically at what part to bring home.
It was hard to decide. He was chipping away next to Juno and Xiu.

Savior had managed to get to her feet after all as she watched the students fan out towards the body, hands and feet and all forms of parts smacking into the skeleton. There was no rot, she could approach, and the Marrowstripe found herself wondering if there was something so special about trying to take a piece back.
So, she raised her hand . . . and missed entirely, creating nothing but a pile of ash in her strike. She probably hadn't meant to do that.

Not really cool, Savior wanted a piece of whatever it was the students were getting!
She raised her hand to try again, this time wondering if she shouldn't swing so hard, and. . . .she made a successful strike. A crack appeared where her hand connected and she focused, ready to hit it again.

All she needed to go was get a few more strikes in, right? Same method, same level of power. So, hand back again, she made contact again in the same spot, though not nearly as hard as before, The crack had spread, she only needed one more good strike.

This would be her last hit if she were successful, and Savior looked down at the crack she'd made with focus and interest. Pulling back, she actually hit a little harder than she wanted, but the back plate piece cracked off into her hand without too much difficulty. She looked down at it, the strange color fascinating to her eyes, and she pulled her mask out before sticking it into her mouth for storage. She wouldn't swallow it - even someone like her knew this was not edible - but that didn't mean her mouth wouldn't act like a good container.
Finally settling the piece of bone where she wanted it she looked around at the rest of the students all scattered, and wondered what to do next. This seemed like a nesting of nothing now.

Xiu gave Junko's shoulder a gentle squeeze, watching as both she and Vaith made gentle chips on the skull. She stopped humming for a moment, considering answering Junko--had the ghoul noticed some of the hunters making away with pieces of Red as well?--but she decided it would be best to stay silent. This whole situation was already incredibly depressing as it was.
She crouched down between her friends, her good hand on Junko's shoulder while she lightly rested her head on Vaith's. "...I wonder if we get to go home soon." She whispered, a flicker of hope passing through her eyes.
...How were they going to tell their friends who had stayed back that Red was gone?

As the ice melted away, Johan struggled to his feet, and followed the other students as they gathered around Reds' remains. He could hear others sobbing, but there was only an echoing void where Johan felt grief should be. It left him without emotion, but he could understand the desire to bring their savior home to Halloween Town.
Finding a c***k in the stone, Johan tried to pry at it carefully, feeling the muscles in his arms shake from exhaustion. With a crack, the sliver gave way, and crumbled into ash.

Staring down at the little pile of ash, Johan felt the first tremors of remorse. She was so... delicate. Here was this giant of a monster. She looked solid as rock, but crumbled so easily.
He turned and placed one hand along the edge of the rune he'd tried so hard to replicate. Red had seemed to think it was dangerous. Perhaps?
He pulled at the edge of the glyph, trying to be careful this time. But he fell backwards as part of the edge gave way, and tumbled to the floor, disintegrating like the first piece.

One more try. He was tired, and this was gruesome work, chipping away at his Professor. He could hear the other students singing a familiar song, and joined in, a surprisingly gentle sounding tenor.
The song helped firm his resolve, and when he found another sliver, he tried to loosen it. He stopped when he saw a crack form at the base, and moved to tug at a different angle.

Seeing that the sliver was still intact, Johan took a steadying breath, and resumed singing. His fingers probed at the fault line, trying to determine where next to press or pull.
Easy does it.
He alternately tugged and pushed the sliver, feeling it give a bit more. Just a little more.

So close. Johan paused to calm himself, and try to lessen the shaking in his hands. The sliver was almost loose, he just had to pull at the right angle to slide it out its resting place.
Another deep breath, and he felt he was ready to try. He slowly pulled at the sliver, and felt it move...
It was out. Johan held a small piece of Reds' skull, and his voice choked off, as tears finally welled at the edges of his eyes.

Junko nodded to Xiu's question. "I want to go home." The words were a slight whimper. She wanted to be home. Now. She wanted to be in her nice, warm bed snuggled up with her cuddly, loving minipets. And she wanted to be held in the arms of her boilfriend. She wanted to go to gym class and be taught by Red.
That last thought made her heart clench painfully.
"I would also like to know what came of everyone who isn't here...does anyone know where Seiji is?" Junko asked a little louder so she could be heard, though still worried. Where was he? She needed to know he was okay. He hadn't arrived with the other students...not that she'd seen? Her hand suddenly hit a little too hard and the section of horn she was trying to get crumbled into ash. "Damnit.."

Savior's ears perked up as she heard someone doing something other than crying - a welcome change of pace. Weeping was all well and good, but how long were people going to let their faces leak? Savior'd easily moved on, the others should as well, and she turned to look at the ghoul who was asking.
"Sagey. Describe." She shuffled her way over towards the ghoul clad only in hair (Savior was still quite content to be nude), and she paused once she reached her side. "Describe Sagey, have seen maybe." The Marrowstripe hadn't fallen asleep yet, nor had she had any head injuries, so her grasp of faces and recent events was doing pretty well for itself. All things considered, of course.
