Question: What benefits come from specializing in a weapon? This is in regards to Knights, Paladins, and Shadowknights, who all pick one weapon to specialize in, or have one that is required as the specialization. Do they get access to the 'Swordmaster' techniques for that weapon, or does someone need to come up with class specific specialization techniques for these weapons?

Uhm, shouldn't there be more of a benefit if you're making Paladins and Knights take specialized weapons?

It just gives them minor bonus to learning certian things faster.

That might be for Knights, I don't know. I know that SKs have random mastery, but that's their own choice. No, for instance, Paladins get the ability to learn shield skills no matter what - are there any Paladin only shield techniques? Also, it says that Paladins have 'The Strongest Sword Attack'. Pray tell, what attack is that?

But anyways, they don't have any special shield skills, they just have high defense and were expected to have shield probably, a lot of the strange stuff in this guild comes from Havock, he definably had a lot of ideas, not all of them were good though.

Hrm. May need to work something up then - because I don't see any shield skills at all, and no one is going to use them if there isn't any benefits (higher defense, extra attacks, whatever).

The closest thing to shield skills is the sword and shield styles, but they're not very good sweatdrop

Exactly - that probably counts as another reason why so few people take Paladin as their class - what exactly are the benefits of taking this over say, Swordmaster(Warmonger)? They can heal themselves.
Negatives? Insanely slow. Can't learn class specific weapon styles, are limited to universal styles.

Kagetsukiko Hey.... Ghosts can be tamed with Taming Tune, right mrgreen ? Just reposting this in case it got lost in the weapons debate. As for paladin benefits. If I'm correct, they're the only class that can learn shield skills. None of the other classes allow it; although, there's a high chance that I'm wrong because I didn't really take the time to check sweatdrop . Of course, there still aren't any shield skills, but that shouldn't stop people from making them. Additionally, paladins have their own set of skills that no one else can learn. Sure, it's not big, but they're fairly good. At the very least, I managed to drag on a fight against two S-rank mages with three A or B-rank angel cadutos who had access to paladin skills, staff skills, and very large wings to defend themselves with and I'm not that good at fighting. As for not being able to learn class-specific weapon styles. Most of the weapon styles are universal with parts of a few being class-specific. The slowness part can easily be made up for their supposedly high defense. Sure, they can't dodge, but they should be able to easily stand up to most attacks.

At least 5 classes can use shields, Paladins are the only ones to get some kind of meager bonus out of it. The ghost taming part, if you mean Paranormals, probably not. Otherwise, go ahead, it should work.
