Neko closed his eyes, inhaling deeply before opening his eyes and looking back to Bao, his gaze calmer, collected, and calculating.
"What, exactly, is it that you need my help with? I have very little interest in anything outside of my own research, which you have impeded."

After having walked for hours on end through the thick forest in search of the next settlement he'd be staying at, Saito arrived at the edge of the clearing. Slightly surprised he looked around and noticed the remnants of what used to be a rather impressive structure.
~Darn, I was really hoping not to have to spend another night under the stars...~
He sighed and sat down, leaning against one of the trees. He observed the surroundings trying to decide on whether he should move on or scavenge some wood from the structure and maybe take shelter in it for the night.

After much silent deliberation, Saito decided he'd take a quick look around the structure. He tried to avoid scavenging but as of late, food had been sparse and his rest stops had been few and far between.
~Hopefully no one will take offense...~

A man appeared a short distance from Saito. He was wearing an untucked red-shirt and a jacket a slightly different shade of the color. His sunglasses tinted slightly but down his nose enough for his eyes to still be seen. He wore loose black slacks and surprisingly businesslike shoes given he was standing on rubble in the middle of the forest. His black hair had a white streak.
Most noticeable was that he smelled of brimstone and small flames danced around his feet from the aftermath of what appeared to be some kind of a fire shushin. "No-one has had time to fix this place, you'd be better off following the train tracks to someplace else." the man said, idly pulling a cigar from his coat and lighting it with a snap of his fingers before taking a few puffs.

Saito who hadn't seen or heard the man coming was taken completely off guard. While he slowly tilted his head around to look at whomever just spoke. His left hand reached for the hilt of his sword but stopped halfway, after all he didn't want to look aggressive.
Oh...I see. Well I guess I'll be on my way then...
As he was about to take off, Saito noticed the flames dancing around the man's feet and and the odd smell about him. Still a little shaken but the man's appearance moments ago he couldn't help but look totally confused.
I...uh...You probably...I mean...Sir, you're on fire.

The man blinked a few times, looking down then shrugged and flicked his finger causing all the flames to extinguish with a lot of dark smoke. "Huh, oh thanks" he said, shrugging. The man didn't seem too terribly interested in that he had nearly caught fire.
His hand brushed his sides after the smoke had cleared, though he still took a few more puffs from the cigar.

Despite his immense urge to ask the mysterious man if he had a habit of being spontaneously combustible, Saito kept that particular question to himself. He then regained his composure and figured he might use the opportunity to get some useful information.
You said something about train tracks leading somewhere? I was wondering where those tracks might be. I've never been through these parts before. I'm from a simple village far from here and I left due to some ... eh well bad times I guess you could call it that.

The demon tilted his head in the direction of one of the ruined lines of the tram system. There were several different directions the tracks could go, with markings identifying what element in what direction.
"I'm not surprised you missed them, ninja tend to make things blend in a bit. Still everything should seem average after youv'e been around for a while." The man took a long puff on his cigarette. "There's this fox-girl with brown hair, should be obvious she's related to me if you see her. I mean aside from her demon side keeping her young that is" The man flipped open his jacket and started writing something on a piece of paper from one of the inner pockets. "It's a bit of a tradition for people to attack her as a training test if you're planning on getting training here for being a Ninja. You'll do best if you attempt to jump her without warning since part of being a ninja's about stealth and deception" The man scribbled down a note in some kind of code. "Just go towards the kaze dojo, there's a big new airship there, and give her this after your test" The man burst into flames and vanished in a flaming shushin smelling of brimstone. The note was unscathed as it drifted to land at Saito's feet.
When he re-appeared hidden in the distance he dropped his illusion. His good eye a bloody red while the other was permanently shut with thirteen old and very small scars from a knife.

Saito paid close attention to everything the man was telling him. He looked slightly confused at the mention of attacking some random girl in the woods, then again he didn't know much about the ways of the ninja. His real surprise came when the man disappeared out of thin air. Spooked, he looked around and nervously picked up the piece of paper at his feet. He then proceeded to walk in the direction the man had shown him, while having one hand on the hilt of his sword.
~I hope I don't die from this...~

Aside from some visual hints it wouldn't be too obvious that the demon was following after Saito. He wanted to watch the show after all, and he had a hint the timing might just work out.

Completely unaware of the demon's presence, Saito kept walking towards the tracks. He was mindful of making as little noise as possible without actually looking suspicious, but most of all he was watching out for this mysterious girl.
~I guess I did well in taking good care of my sword until now. I didn't think I'd have to use it so soon...~

The demon glanced, then yawned, thinking ways to make this game more interesting. He thought about what aspects of Ninja life he had gleamed from bothering those here before he grinned and attempted to wrap a genjutsu around Saito with his inverted Ki. It wasn't anything major, a simple illusion of a fox like demon girl walking along in the woods, still towards the Kaze dojo, and moving just out of Saito's sight, before he released the illusion.

Unaware of what was happening to him, Saito fell for the genjutsu completely. He knew he had to catch up to her but didn't want to give away his presence. With that in mind he walked faster whilst making himself as silent as he possibly could which was hard for an untrained person such as himself. Meanwhile, he tucked away the piece of paper and held the hilt of his sword firmly with one hand.
~This is not the time to screw this up...~

He let out a low chuckle before attempting another little wrap as their pace hastened. One good eye focused tightly on Saito. One more genjutsu formed in his head and went out with the inverted ki.
The fox girl glanced back and mouthed catch me if you can to Saito before she started Tree Hopping.

Upon realizing he'd been discovered, Saito's stress level went up a few notches. He no longer needed to make himself silent so he increased the speed at which he running. Tree hopping was one of those activities he'd never fully mastered so he was hesitant to follow her this way but he figured it would probably be a lot safer than running while looking up and so he did.
