Hmm... Not so much a peeve, but I wonder now. Does anybody actually make their characters unattractive? Not like off the wall warty, disfigured, and monstrous looking, but even just mediocre looking or mildly unpleasant at first glance?

(raises hand) Almost all of my characters have been just unremarkable or leaning towards ugly. I think I've done one or two characters that were actually attractive, and that was at the request of other people that were in the party.
@Slait: Oh, I know. I just wanted to point it out because I'm an a**. But yes. You do have some of the best grammar I've seen on here. You actually capitalize the first letter of your sentences and use punctuation where it belongs. And go figure, the one time I try to be nice I come out sounding condescending.

This isn't about message forum RPs but about video games. Okay, they're called MMORPGs, Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games. When did it become so taboo to Roleplay in them? In WoW you're pretty much ostracized for roleplaying unless you're on a designated server for it, why you would need a designated server for ROLEPLAYING in a ROLEPLAYING GAME, I'll never know. In other online RPGs it seems like people get shunned for Roleplaying. I don't really get it, you create a character, you place them in a fantasy world, but then you neglect them to just be another gamer playing a video game?
Is it so wrong to want to add a story and personality to your character? To fill in the otherwise open ended world to which they have been placed?

I heard that's what Gaia has become. I've only been on for about a year and a half but from what people who have been on for years have said is that Gaia was originally mostly an rp site. (correct me if I'm wrong people who i've heard this from, you know who you are)

I've been on Gaia since '04, and from what I've seen, it has never been mostly a RP site. It was intended to be a fan driven social networking site. By fan driven, I mean that it was what WOW and similar MMOs try to be, but never pull off. The player population was intended to manipulate the flow of Gaia's story, decide what path it follows. I suppose you could say that it was intended to be a massive story, written by the population. Roleplaying wasn't intended, but it wasn't discouraged either. You could be who you wanted to be. But, alas, Gaia's moderators have since told us that they don't give a rat turd what we think. They want our money and nothing else.

When was the last time the members had any real involvement with the storyline? And I don't mean the events and polls of what should happen.

It was the last time Gaia actually cared about their user base. I don't remember how long ago that was anymore.

Not entirely sure, but the last time I remember for certain was in '05.

Phaeton 2 Hmm... Not so much a peeve, but I wonder now. Does anybody actually make their characters unattractive? Not like off the wall warty, disfigured, and monstrous looking, but even just mediocre looking or mildly unpleasant at first glance? I actually have several characters like this. Most of them build more for function than form. Never have I made a character delibrately ugly... and most of my characters, I admit are attractive. But largely that is due to the fact I play races and classes that are innately attractive looking as a racial or professional feature. It's a weird coincidence with me.

I've never really considered my characters attractive. I like making them plain. I did have one that was disfigured a bit from a fight. Beat up, stabbed up, and an eye was torn out then left for dead. Made a sort of deal with the devil to stay alive.

I have trouble posting here. This is blatant mental masturbation, not that venting this is unhealthy or unsightly. I'm Arrogant and prone to ranting like people care. So to keep the "soul of wit"-
I hate Elitism, the over inflated sense of self value used to lord over others.
I hate too much fluff in a post, bad pacing is terrible.
I hate perfect Mary Sue's.
I hate characters that do nothing but suffer. It just feels kinda emo...
I hate when people try to write in detail about stuff they don't know. It becomes pretty obvious when they don't.
But you know what I like?
Vests...

I hate people. Just in general. I've had a number of days recently where every reason for me being a misanthrope (which I am) had an example shown.
Even more than I hate people, I hate society. There's so many ******** up standards of living and behavior these days. Lots of the old good standards are ignored, while the biased s**t head mentality still stands and is promoted by the entire country. (is mad at a lot of things at the moment)

Parents and pointless tests at the moment. People who don't know the meaning of "Leave me alone" and "Not in the mood to deal with this crap." People who break promises, things that they swore that they'd never do.
I'm just in one hell of a mood, don't really want to talk about it.

Oh, why not. More of an eye roller than a pet peeve, really, but I'll throw it in.
People that say they aren't in the mood to talk about it, but go on a little rant anyway. If you don't want to talk about it, then don't. Leave the hypocrisy to the lawyers.
