I still prefer weaponry like swords and such, even if they mean being closer to your opponent....
Weight of an average M1 Carbine: ~5 pounds
Weight of an average longsword: ~3 pounds
Weight of an average M16: ~9 pounds (bad choice)
now, correct me if I'm wrong, but which is more exhausting: swinging the 3 pound hunk of steel madly around trying to decapitate zombies lunging at your throat, or holding/propping the carbine up and taking them out from 200 yards off, taking a moment to perhaps reload or unjam it?
yumi, I don't care how much you like swords over guns... if a zombie apocalypse comes, please get yourself a light rifle and/or handgun. If you tried using a sword, you wouldn't survive long enough for us to group up and me to say I told you so.
And wait, end of the world? OH GOD!!! HURRY EVERYONE!!! GET THE NONPERISHABLE FOODS AND YOUR HUNTING RIFLES!!!
We need an emergency Plan Z. Straken, you secure the island and lay down the outer fortifications. Bring plenty of tools and farming implements. Familiarize yourself passionately with the geography for a 100 mile radius. Also, get yourself a sturdy boat that can safely carry about 20 people and a couple tons of cargo. Master the skills required to keep the boat in working order, and how to pilot it.
Kai, you master the engineering skills required to operate and maintain radios, generators, and any other electronic equipment, even down to making/repairing a flashlight (pretty simple compared to a generator). Bring some of those fancy space-age solar panels Cali is so famous for.
BB, I'll leave you to munitions.
Yumi, since you seem to be so into it, you brush up on your blacksmithing skills. Learn how to forge any variety of things out of scrap metal. Make sure to bring a bellows with you. Also, me being the sexist jerk I am, I'd like you to study basic farming techniques to maintain a stable food supply.
Bayer, do you think a life of medicine is for you? Pick up the skills you'd need to find medicines in the wild. First aid skills are a must. You're our doctor.
Newb, communications. Learn how they work, how to make them, and how to use them.
I'll cover scavenging, scouting, and survival skills.
Anything else we need?
