*Nana would bring her face far enough away from Mastema's side to speak. The other things could wait, they weren't really all that important, and she could always inquire later. Once Nana was asleep, Mastema could go about what ever he needed to. Protecting the citadel from KB, knocking Xol off of the barrier, going to see Slayer, and whatever else needed his attention*
...I think I should rest now. It has been a rather... active day.

*Nodding, Mastema laid Nana back on the bed and sat up for a moment. He pulled the covers back, so he could move them easily, and pulled them over himself and Nana as he laid back down where he was. Once that was done, he reembraced Nana and kept her held to him gently* Of course..... sleep well, dear. *Mastema sealed the good night with a kiss on Nana's lips before settling in himself*

*Nana would settle her head against Mastema and close her eyes. It would take a while to fall asleep, and in the meantime she could ponder over a few things. When Mastema left, when ever that happened to be, Nana wouldn't sleep nearly as deeply or comfortably but at least she'd be able to regian a bit of her strength. March...*

The portals had yet to alter their shape, as the laser fire continued to senseless pound forwards against anything in it's way. Such an act seemed to be destined for nothing more then clearing away what might be before them, and yet oddly the portals remained. Of course, KB could easily drop in some nukes, but such would be much too boring for KB. For now, he'd simply wait to see what Slayer decided to do.

*For the moment, Proto would remain aside, not being properly equipped for this kind of sortie*
Zeno: *looking up to Slayer, Zeno would shout over the sound of laser fire* Hey! You have the same idea as me?
Slayer: It would seem so, Zenogais! *Slayer's cape had now expanded to be able to cover approximately half of the existing portals; he would take them out piece by piece. Ready to take action, Slayer descended with the cape in from of him. Once in front of the lasers, the lasers which hit the cape would be reflected back, via some sort of portal*
Zeno: Drunkard Shade!! *Slamming one hand on the ground, a wall of what appeared to be lightning and electricity; however, it was just an aesthetic effect. The effect of this wall would be the same as Slayer's and would cover another 1/4 of the portals*

The moment the reflective nature of the pair's teamwork came into effect, the fire stopped. Chances were they hadn't destroyed the firing units, just that due to what they were firing upon, they had stopped. No point in shooting themselves in the foot. At this point, the portals simply remained there in defiance, as KB toyed with the thought of dropping over-loaded fusion reacotrs on them.

Slayer: *Noticing that the sound of fire had stopped, Slayer tried to think of a way to counterattack without exposing himself to too much fire* Hmm....
*Mastema's telepathic communication would interrupt Slayer's chain of thought* Leave this to me Slayer....... just keep your defense at the ready
Slayer: Hmm? I see..... very well then.....
*Mastema's counterattack would come quickly. High up on the barrier two holes opened and a split second later, the large red laser beams of the two nearest towers shot out of these holes and straight at the portals. Each of the beams was large enough to cover several portals, and a great deal of damage would no doubt result across the land that wasn't covered. These beams had been held back in the last battle because the enemy had been too spread out, but the portals made it easy to know where the enemy was. Even the heavily armored BGS wouldn't survive long while the beams sweeped over the portals*

*Mastema sat on the edge of his bed looking at what was obviously a small jewelry box sitting on top of his piano; this box hadn't been there before, and was moderate in size. It had gone well into the day following KB's attack. The lasers from the tower had probably succeeded in destroying a good few of the BGs, though it couldn't be certain from the other side of the portals. Either way, the portals had closed and the attack was over now. Mastema would have even more surprised for KB on his next visit, no doubt. Slayer and Zeno had returned to their places, and Proto was once again guarding the first floor. With the moment of peace, and with his projects being handled by Zio without need of his assistance, Mastema reflected back on his meeting with Slayer* Hmm.....
--------------- flashback (several hours prior to present)------
So what is this about, Slayer? I find it odd that you brought up the prospect of meeting with me publically at the party. *Mastema stood up from his throne, with Slayer to his right*
Slayer: In truth, some of the matters only occured to me at that table. First and foremost, it's about your young children *Slayer stepped foreward, reaching into one of his inner pockets*
Oh? *Turning to Slayer, Mastema wondered what Slayer could have possibly noticed about the three that he didn't*
Slayer: *Without answering Mastema, Slayer pulled a white glove out of his inner pocket and promptly slapped Mastema on his left cheek with it. The hit was hard enough to turn Mastema's head and loud enough to override any sounds Zio could have been making. The only term to describe it was "nice contact"*
Mas: Ugh! *Mastema only grunted at the hit and turned back to Slayer, hoping that there would be an explanation to this assault* o.x?
Slayer: As I was saying..... first and foremost, you, dear lord, need to take better care of your children! *tucking the glove back in his inner pocket, Slayer was quite frank with Mastema*
Mas: *Being quizzical again, Mastema was unsure of just what Slayer meant* I am not sure I follow what you mean
Slayer: *sighing* I can tell just from that party that you have been rather.... negligent of them. I can only imagine what they must be doing while your wife is bed ridden.
Mas: I have been watching them. If they were in danger I intervened as I saw necessary. Nana is in charge of their lessons and education.
Slayer: Protecting them from danger from afar is not fatherhood, my dear friend. Even if you intended to use them as some sort of advantage for yourself, you must still help them develop and grow. Nana can be around them and parent them as much as she wishes, but she will never be able to give them your influence. Face the truth, Mastema.... regardless of what you do, those children will one day decide what they wish to do based on their own views, but you can open their eyes. You and I have seen countless days and everything in them.
Mas: *Mastema grinned lightly and chuckled just as well* So you mean to say I should pass on my experience to the children.... and give them all the tools that I can give for them to forge their own philosophy?
Slayer: Without all of your oversimplifying, yes; that's exactly what I mean
Mas: *Nodding while still grinning* Very well... I will keep them more in mind in the coming days.
Slayer: I'm glad to hear it. Whether or not they agree with you, you will still serve to reinforce their beliefs. Now then..... with that out of the way... I have something of equal importance to speak to you about. *Reaching over his shoulder, Slayer's hand vanished into the portal in his cape, and out of that darkness, he pulled the jewelry box which now stands on top of Mastema's piano*
Hmm? What is i-- *Mastema cut himself off as soon as he saw the box. It was clear that he recognized it, and most likely knew what was in it*
Slayer: *He presented the moderately sized box to Mastema* I've held onto your possessions for all these years, and that is long enough. Make no mistake, my friend; I don't return this out of any sort of renouncement of our friendship, but because of my current condition. Besides, it's time that you passed this on to where it is more deserved. I know for a fact that you have no problems putting your past behind you.... but let's try harder to bring that together with your future.
*Momentarily stunned, it didn't take Mastema long to regain his composure and laugh lightly* No need for the proverbial talk, Slayer. My past is my business. But thank you.... *Mastema took the box and nodded once more to Slayer* I will keep this, from this point on.....
-----------------end of flashback--------------
*Mastema sighed and laid back on the bed, waiting until his assistance was needed*

*Nana and the children were still at rest, and the goings on from the Mind and the throne several hours prior would have gone unnoticed. It was possible that Nana might inquire about the jewlery box sometime later if it was noticed. It was possible Mastema could move it aswell, meaning Nana would never have known it was there. The only way to know for sure of course was to wait until Nana woke, she would either spot the box or not. Then onto a few things Slayer had said; surely Slayer had noticed that of the three children, two of them didn't even look at Mastema the entire time, the last Trilla was sitting right across from him so there was little chance that she couldn't see him. Also the fact that Trilla and Eecheb could have if they wished attacked eachotehr from across the table over a simple candle. In the past the two had been overly active, not enough was done to make sure such behavior didn't continue. It was true when Mastema had said "Nana is in charge of their lessons and education." but what about him? What had he been doing for them since Nana had fallen ill? Watching out for them from afar? Slayer was right "Protecting them from danger from afar is not fatherhood", Mastema hadn't been doing near enough for them. They had all been relatively good while Nana was ill, but that didn't mean it would stay that way, and there was so little time left until the conference aswell, could Mastema possibly shape them up? Perhaps give them more information on said conference? The way Mastema spoke a great deal of the time, it was a wonder the children could understand him at times. Though it did seem that Slayer was well aware that Mastema might simply use the children, perhaps much like Thanatos or worse, who could tell. The closest thing to fatherhood Nana had probably caught from Mastema would have to be comforting Trilla when scared, or perhaps when Mastema and Micha were standing side by side in the Mind, at that time Mastema had his hand on the child's head. Mastema always had to make sure the citadel was in order and that nothing went wrong, but in doing so, his family was being neglected. Whether that really meant anything to him or not who could say, but at the very least thanks to Slayer, now Mastema would keep them in mind a little more often. Just how Mastema would choose to interact with them in the near future might say a lot, but until that time letting all of them simply rest for now was the best thing he could do for them*

*Thanatos sat at the private computer terminal in his room, but his attention seemed far from the detailed information on various aspects of Mastema's plans for the citadel displayed on his screen*..... *He was leaning back on the chair, his head leaned back and looking towards his ceiling, a vacant, glassy look in his eye; one could possibly assume he'd been hypnotized, and his arm was limp. Only his vital body processes and his thoughts were active now. The only thing he was thinking about was not how cruel Mastema had been in giving him this information, but in how cruel he had been to himself in looking at this information. He was reexamining his entire philosophy about truth...... he had always wanted it in order to give it..... and now, Mastema had given him the truth he so sought, truth which if told Thanatos had no doubt would tear some of the citadel inhabitants apart, the same way it had..... lacerated his earlier state of mind. These thoughts would continue to pass through Than's mind as the screen stood inert, displaying the last piece of information which Than looked at8

*Several hours had passed, and the children had been up for about twenty minutes now. All three were just finishing up with breakfast, some well balanced were others were not. But now they could go out and roam around the city again. They were a year old now and getting older every day; short, but still growing. They'd try to give eachother thier own room while on the elevator, headed down to the first floor. It would be nice to see Proto again, and the proto-type had been missed from the festivities*
Trilla: whee Trilla's a year old~
Eecheb: >_> | We're all a year old now.
Micha: . . .
Trilla: whee heart
*Elsewhere in the master bedroom, Nana began to stir. She needed to get back to her rehabilitation, the confrence was only a short time away and if she was going to even be able to attend, then she needed this rehabilitation. Tyrsais would probably have a chance to speak with Nana if she were at the conference, and he had been waiting a while now*

*Mastema was relaxing, eyes closed, and going back and forth with thoughts to Zio. A few issues had come up and he was giving his advice where necessary* ~_~ Hmm...... *Of course, he was still attentive to what was happening around him* Good morning dear......
Proto: *Knowing the elevator was on its way down with the three, Proto would turn to the side and assume his salute position, so each of the children would walk in front of him, assumedly, while he was saluting*

*Slowly opening her eyes from sleep, Nana would stare up at the ceiling briefly. After a second or two she'd turn to her right where Mastema lye. A light smile would appear across Nana's face, her eyes were closed again. Once opened again, Nana would address Mastema; the box on the piano was currently outside of Nana's view point, so it would go unnoticed*
^__^
Hnn, good morning love. You're well I hope.
*Nana's last statment was something Mastema should be asking her, not the other way around. Either way it was just.... Nana. Now then, back at the elevator, it was just coming to a stop on the main floor. It was high time the children got out and about; the elevator doors opened and each filed out into the main loby of the tower. Trilla was first to leave the elevator, in a bound of energy. Next came Micha, having an always calm sense about him reguardless of the situation. Finally Eecheb, who was scratching at the side of his headband, it seemed the boy had an itch. All seemed to be in good health, and they spotted Proto right away*
Trilla: 4laugh Proto~

*It took quite a bit for Mastema not to laugh at the question. It wasn't because he should have been asking Nana the question; it was because he was arguably the only one in the citadel who was healthy. Omega was mentally unstable and berserk, Zeno was overly depressed, Slayer was rather nearing the end of his life, Sho was obsessive compulsive with some things, not to mention chop sticks, Proto was suffering from odd visions, Thanatos was infected with some sort of virus, Tyr was "mourning" the death of Albert, and Orias...... was just plain stupid. Nana had been bed ridden for months as well.... indeed, Mastema was possibly be the only one in the citadel who was well* Of course, I feel fine, dear. What of yourself? *he chuckled lightly* You seemed quite peaceful in your sleep
Proto: *Proto beeped his greetings to each child and nodded to them, lowering his hand back to his side. He wouldn't stand in their path as they walked out*

Hnn, I'll get better... I just have to take things one step at a time, right? Oh? Do I? I suppose I need all the peace I can get.
*"One step at a time", a slight reference to her rehabilitation. Still, Nana must have been feeling a bit better if she could joke lightly. Down on the main floor, the children were around Proto at one point or another. It appeared as if they were going to speak with Proto briefly before going on their way to play and be mischiefous. Trilla seemed to be quite pleased with the fact that she was a year old now, and was more than happy to spread that knowledge. It was something everyone would just have to live with for a few days, Trilla would address Proto*
Trilla: 4laugh Trilla's a year old now!! heart
Eecheb: ~_~; | We're all a year old...!
Trilla: <.< | So?
Eecheb: ~_~;; | *huff* | I'm going.
*As Eecheb started toward the door, Trilla would take after him like a shot, having let Eecheb only get ahead of her by a few meters. Once close enough, she'd latch onto his back tightly. Eecheb was shocked initially, but soon became annoyed. He wasn't going to beat on Trilla yet, he'd simply move to a different location where he'd be less likely to be seen. Keeping that in his mind, reguardless of Trilla being latched to himself, Eecheb would start walking toward the door again, Trilla dragging behind him*
Eecheb: !! .......... =_=;
Trilla: whee heart
*Micha would turn his head slightly to watch the overly affectionate display from Trilla. It was a little more than what she'd usually do, perhaps there was simply something in her system that hadn't quite worked itself out yet. Micha would continue watching as Eecheb tried to make it though the double doors with his sister attached to him. If anything, it was an.... odd sight. Micha was still over by Proto for the moment*
