Haibane13 Apocke I'm glad that people aren't harrying others over it. Nothing should be taboo unjustly. Do tell? A lot of people associate negative thoughts or stigma to certain things unjustly For instance, Racism.

No one needs a god to be morally correct. Morally correct in the sense of, beneficial to everyone.

No, I was asking what you meant by the post of: Apocke A lot of people associate negative thoughts or stigma to certain things unjustly For instance, Racism. Which could imply that racism could be seen as either a positive force OR a negative one, but didn't specify which. Also on the matter of universal morality; I think that everyone has something that they persue, and whatever that is(love, philanthropy, world peace, money, etc.) can effectively been seen as their "god," so to speak. Individuals make choices about morals based of their goals(which rules to break or bend). If you have no other check in your system outside yourself, you cannot be true to those morals because of humanity's fickle nature. Even atheist worship Science, for example. What I mean is that everyone tries to be morally correct by their own chosen "deity," as it were. Just some food for thought. :b

Also, saying that atheists 'worship' science is a bit of a paradox. Science isn't a solid thing, more of the action or method.

Apocke Like every person has a path, I see. Also, saying that atheists 'worship' science is a bit of a paradox. Science isn't a solid thing, more of the action or method. I don't think it's that much of stretch; Defining the terms...http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/worship Quote: 3 : a form of religious practice with its creed and ritual 4 : : extravagant respect or admiration for or devotion to an object of esteem http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/worship Quote: 1. Reverent honor and homage paid to God or a sacred personage, or to any object regarded as sacred.2. Formal or ceremonious rendering of such honor and homage: They attended worship this morning. 3. Adoring reverence or regard: excessive worship of business success. 4. The object of adoring reverence or regard. Reviewing the data...http://scienceblogs.com/webeasties/2012/09/10/lecture-1-why-is-science-awesome-emerson-sc214/ Quote: Why is Science Awesome? Principally, science is awesome because we are not. Our ability to perceive things is limited and flawed, our memories are limited and flawed, and our minds are filled with biases that distort reality even when the information is right in front of us. Science helps us overcome our own limitations (to the extent we are able). Sounds very much like a modern religious service to me. Google search of: Science is Awesome"Feel free to replace "Science" with "God" and run the search again, if you'd like a direct comparison. ConclusionsMore or less the average person these days looks to the scientist in the same way that the commoner in the dark ages looked to the priest of the Roman Catholic Church. Most of them don't even understand the terminology that is being used, but if you ask them they say "it must be true" because "so-and-so said it". Personally I don't see a difference between the two.

Don't get me wrong, I like science(It's one of my favorite subjects to learn and teach). I'm just saying what I see (I'm using the Scientific Method).
