Oh, goody! You're just in time, Melaka. Since y'all are already armed, why don't you take the honors and carve the first pumpkin?

Actually, you may want to show me how it's done. There seems to be a point to this beyond "KILL THE EVIL THING."

Ya haven't carved a pumpkin before? You don't KILL the blamed thing. Here, look.
*grabs a serrated knife*
First, you cut a circle around the stem.
*pulls the top off the pumpkin with a 'plunk'*
Then, you reach inside, and pull out all of the goo. That's what the newspaper's for.
*starts scooping out the pumpkin*
Sometimes I separate out the seeds from the rest of the goo and stick 'em in the oven with some salt till they're browned. They're pretty tasty that way.
*picks up a smaller knife*
Now, you carve a face on the pumpkin. I'm an old-fashioned girl, so I go with the triangles for eyes...
*cuts them out*
Triangle for a nose...and a big mouth with one tooth on the top and one on the bottom. If I want to get fancy...
*cuts square holes on each side of the pumpkin and sticks the pieces from the eyes in*
I give him ears! See? Now all I need is a candle and a match, and Jack O'Lantern here'll be ready to sit outside of the Bistro door.

Zinda Blake why don't you take the honors and carve the first pumpkin? Hehe you just reminded me. Selina and I were thinking that the 3 of us should have a pumpkin carving party. Interested?
