Bakura froze when he heard someone. Thinking it might be a palace guard sent to this village, he grabbed his blade and crouched down a bit low. He left his horse where it was, and crept forwards a little distance. He saw a person, and relaxed slightly. It was just a woman.

A foreigner, huh? Well, she was probably traveling. And travelers usually had some kind of cargo they were bringing. Bakura silently came up behind the girl, quickly grabbing one of her wrists and pressing his blade against her neck. "Don't move." He whispered in her ear.

Bakura tensed when the woman spoke his name. Well, of course. Plenty of people must know of him by this point. But she didn't say it as though she was afraid... "Yes, and maybe if you cooperate you can tell others about this." He hissed in her ear. He suddenly saw a figure stepping out of a mud hut, and made an angry sound. Still holding the blade to Rei's throat, he moved off to the side, dragging her along with him. He muttered something to himself. "White rock, white rock... Ah, there it is." Outside of one of the huts was a small pile of white pebbles that seemed to shine in the moonlight. He went over to it, pulling away the fabric that covered the doorway and forcing Rei to go in first before he followed. He pulled the fabric back over the cover and sat near it, listening for whoever had been out there.

Bakura looked sharply over at Rei, his blue eyes narrowed. "No. Why?" He asked in a harsh whisper. "Look, if I've killed your family or anything, you can save it. I don't care about stuff like that." That was a lie, and a small flash of pain could be seen in Bakura's eyes for a second as he briefly remembered his own family's slaughter.

"Akila." Bakura called out softly, moving slightly away from the door. He paused, eying Rei, then moved again so that he was blocking the exit. The woman, who had been laying down on a mat, lifted her head. Either she had really been asleep or she was waiting for Bakura to call her. "Search the girl. I want anything valuable." Akila sat up, and went over to Rei.

Akila reached into Rei's pockets and pulled out the coins. She tried to see them in the dim hut. "What are these?" She questioned, setting them off to the side as she continued to check through Rei's remaining pockets. She didn't bother to give Rei any time to answer, however, and quickly turned her attention on Bakura. "How did you get away? I heard some awful rumors, but I didn't think that any of them could have been true... You're bleeding!" She exclaimed, noticing for the first time the dark stain at Bakura's side. Bakura nodded his head with a wince, holding his hand to the side. "That can wait for another time." He said, glancing at the silver coins then at Rei's hand. It looked as though she was concealing something. "What's she holding?"

Akila nodded her head, agreeing with the girl, and Bakura leaned against the wall, breathing heavily. "Not that it's anything for you to be worrying about, girl, I'm going to be fine. I've lasted all night without--" He broke off as he cringed, pressing a hand to his side, and quickly changed the subject. "Well? What's in her hand?" Akila shrugged, informing him that she couldn't tell. "Well snap her little wrist and find out."

Bakura, who had an eye for this kind of thing, noticed a small flash of gold. "That ring... take it off." He ordered, as Akila shook her head, making 'tsk-tsk' sounds. "The girl is right, Bakura. Here, take off that coat so I can see what happened..." Bakura slipped the red coat off, and Akila examined the wound. "What was this, an arrow?" Bakura nodded just before deciding that now was a good time to pass out, and Akila struggled for a moment to try and lift the man, before giving up when she found she was too weak and decided to tend to him there. She looked over at Rei. "You can leave now, gir-- er, Rei was it? Yes, Rei... Just head on out and go back to wherever you're staying. Don't tell anyone about Bakura being here, though, okay? You don't seem to be familiar with everything here, but Bakura's wanted by the palace." It probably would have been a bad mistake if Akila had told this to anyone else, because there was a reward for Bakura's capture. People would do anything for money, even in the modern world. "You can also take your coins back."
