((Do tell me if I'd be interrupting something with this...it can always be edited.))
Layla watched, stepped forward before seeing how driven and quite visibly upset Maji was. Before she lost sight of him she looked to the wildebeast and nodded her respect for his help, not wanting to make any unnecessary sounds to distract the distraught lion. She slipped quickly to the foliage and climbed a thick trunked tree so to continue her stalk in the more familiar fashion, often lying back so the occassional twist of a branch beneath her paws would be hopefully imperceptable. She furrowed her features and layed back as the trees began to thin as they approached a familiar waterfall. Crouching down she let out a quiet, forlorn sigh knowing now that it was clearly a hard day for someone else...
"M-Maji?" Layla called out in a low, faint voice, "I-I am sorry for...my rudeness in following you...but...there is something wrong?" She never handled emotions well, especially in others and wished she could have asked in a way that seemed more genuine, but there had never been many discussions between Maji and herself that concerned much sadness or many other emotions, and she could likely count the number of creatures she'd really spoken with quite quickly if she put her mind to it.

Soon after Obi was born him own mother begun to feel jealous of her own son. From the time he was able to see Obi's father paid attention to him. Showing great affection. At night he keep Obi close by, and this meant no alone time for his mom. Soon she was fed up with the little attention she got. So, in the night while they sleep, she snuck Obi away. She carried him far away to the boarders of the mist waver lands (about a nights walk). Upon her return Obi's father showed great concern for both. Putting on an act she told him that Obi wanted a drink in the night and so she took him to the watering hole and they were attacked by a pack of hyenas. She said they tore him apart than went after her, but she was too quick and hid until the coast was clear. Latter on the guilt caused her to grow more uncomfortable with her husband. She feared he would kill her if he found out the truth. So she lured three young lions to their small pride. Easily they overpowered the king and tore him to pieces. Obi's mother watched with a devilish grin on her face as they murdered her husband. Little did she know the three new kings were only interested in the much younger females and attacked her, leaving her scared and crippled in the left leg. By some cruel miracle she escaped, heading toward the watering hole for protection. After she got there she was so thirsty she didn't notice the hyenas that had stalked her. There she was brutally attacked by them. They tore her apart and left every last bone in her body broken beyond recognition. Obi, meanwhile, did as best as he could to survive. When he had woken up that morning and found himself alone in a strange land it terrified him. He found shelter in the long grass just along the border of the mist weaver lands. He hoped his dad would come along and rescue him, but no one came.
Obi lay curled up in as tight of ball as possible. The pain of emptiness in his stomach mad it easy to keep curled up so tight. Tears rolled down his sore face as he begun to lose hope in any rescue. His eyes begun to burn from all the tears. Every passing wind mad him try to curl up tighter and tighter. Fear keep him from shouting out for help. "daddy..." He whispered through his chattering teeth.

Maji's thoughts were disrupted by the soft call of his name. An ear turned in the direction of the voice, but for a moment he kept his eyes turned in the oppisate direction. A paw came up to clear something from his face while he cleared his throat repeatidly- an attempt to compose himself as much as possible. Throw the choke hold that his emotions had out of his voice, clear the tears from his eyes. A few deep breaths and he turned to her, his eyes still glazed over and the fur around them a bit damp, but he was trying to smile, though it looked almost painful to be doing so. "Layla... you shouldn't be out so late." He wasn't scolding her... just trying to change topics away from himself. Yes, something was wrong... very wrong... but it wasn't in his nature to throw his burdens on the minds of others, "It's... getting a bit colder these nights. You might catch something...."
He stood himself up and turned to her, trying to fool even himself through a smile. It was then he heard the pathetic weeping of another. For a moment he watched the dark lioness, turning his head to the side- was she weeping? No... she was concerned but not upset. He slowly began looking around. "...do you hear that?"

Layla leapt lightly from the branch as Maji spoke and approached him, her head tilted to the side and her features furrowed with growing concern as she surveyed his expression. Before she could say anything however the soft sound of another creature reached her ears and one swiveled quickly to better pick up the sound, looking away from the waterfall toward the source. Her gaze returned back to Maji and she nodded slowly, tensing close to the ground in defense. Whatever it was it sounded less than hostile, but she could never be sure. Slowly she took several steps toward the foliage and stopped, waiting for another sound.

[[Posted from AIM. :3]]
Kinyamkela pattered out from the caves, letting her snow and silver frame become soaked with waterfall spray as she ducked to the side, jumped down gracefully to the rocks below that sprawled around the edge of the pool. She'd grown again, she was sure; the jump just didn't seem as large as usual.... She shook herself roughly, grinning with delight at the rainbow hues she sprayed through the hot morning air. This place was so beautiful! She loved living here.
Enki's ears flicked as he approached the water fall...he heard the sound of the rushing water interrupted as though there were someone there. Perhaps it was his cousin again. The sound of the splash into the pool sealed the thought in his mind as he approached... "Maji?" He called... He didn't remember enough of this place to know where he was going yet...he desperatly wanted to see the caves where their history was written again...
Someone was called her brother's name. Kinyamkela swivelled her head up, before suddenly marvelling at how easily it came now to name Maji as her brother as well as her beloved Kisulisuli... She shook her head energetically and called out in return. "Maji isn't here! It is just I, Kinyamkela...."
Enki blinked taken aback... he tips his head his earthy hued mane falling towards one side like a wave. "Oh...." He says trying to fight back his surprise..."I'm sorry to interrupt...my name is Enki I was just....um...I'm new?"
"Enki." The lioness smiled warmly, her golden eyes smiling. "Maji has told me all about you. You are his cousin, are you not? And you are not interrupting anything!" She dipped a grey paw in the clear water, flicking it playfully into the air. For some reason she felt absurdly happy today.
He moves forward his tail curling in amusement at the pervasive sense of joy that she exudes. "Yes....Yes I guess I am... " His shoulders roll...well muscled from the ages he spent traveling across the savanna looking for this very place. "Im a little afraid to think what he might have told you... Im afraid I can't recall him mentioning you...but im sure it was an oversight...or an attempt to keep you to himself" He smiles...his whiskers curving forward at the small flirtations. Its been so long... so long.
The lioness found herself acting coy. What was this? Her normal practicalness seemed out the window this morning... perhaps it was the weather. "Perhaps," she grinned in return. "Maji can be like that sometimes. But he is not here, as I said previously. Did you come only seeking him?" She flickered a white-tipped tail behind her, tilting her head curiously.
He gives a small shrug of his shoulders and tipped his head from side to side.. "I was...born here...I...remember things but I don't remember where to find them.....there was a cave...of our histories..." He looks away a little embarised...not quite meeting your golden eyes. "I'd rather like to know...how badly ive corrupted what we use to keep those histories... Ive been on my own so long that..." He looks back up and gives a small hopeful...slightly flirty smile... "Maybe you could show me?"
Kinyamkela nodded slowly, her eyes lighting up. She couldn't help but return the smile. "I was just there... you've come to the right place, Enki," she said, having no problem suddenly talking as if she had known this lion for a long time. After all, he was a lot like Maji, perhaps a little more.. down to earth. "Your cousin showed me these caves a long time ago when I first returned her, to the lands of my ancestors. I'm glad I get to show them to another now..." She blinked as she noticed the dark runes decorating his back. Perhaps like hers, and those in the cave... she absently twisted her head to look at the storm rune standing greyly on her back.
"Thats a handsome mark"...He commented...tipping his head to gaze at it... "Its ...its familar to me..." He says tipping his head to the other side....his mane shifts again to reveal an unknown complex pattern over his left eye.
"Do you mind if I look?" Kinyamkela wove around the edge of the pool to look closer, padding all around the young lion, and enjoying the sight at the same time... Eventually she sat down in front of him with a puzled look. "I've never seen such marks as yours before. But Maji's runes are of soul, and mine is of the storm." She tossed her head with a grin. "The storm that causes a whirlwind, that's me..."
His whiskers curve forward amused.. "I think that fits you well then..." He smiles "Mine are not so interesting I fear..." He says... "They have no meanings that I know..." He sits down and tilts his head to keep the earthy red mane clear of the strange marks...
The lioness peered again and then squinted up at the diamondsparkling waterfall above them. "You should visit the caves," She became a bit more solemn, a bit closer to her normal self. "There are runes there... perhaps you will find your markings writ upon the walls." Her golden eyes took on a brief inward look. "The whole history is there. Maji is best at translating... I fear I shall be a poor guide..." She stretched nimbly to her feet again. "Would you care to explore a little, Enki my friend?"
"I'd be honored..." He says watching you as you rise in a graceful curve like mist rising from the early morning planes.. "And to be guided by a storm...why...i'll call it an omen ...send by the Storm God himself.." He rises to his feet...he's on the verge of adult hood...still straining at the edges of youth...yet weathered with experience of tribulations. "And especially to be guided by one so lovely...almost makes me glad Maji was not here."
Kinyamkela stared fixedly at the ground, startled by the admiring compliment for a moment. She had weathered Maji and Ciyari's tempetuous affairs, but never really thought of this for herself. A warm blush was just about hidden by her pale fur, and she quickly put on her bluff front again. "Ah.. well then, I will gladly lead the way for you, seeing as you speak so nicely," she teased lightly, flicking a snowy tailtip past his nose as she turned to face up to the rocks. "Come, up here!" She leapt to the closest rock, making her way more gracefully up the now well-known route than she had that first time she had been shown these same caves...
He bounds up after you. His balance is sure...though his eyes show the uncertainty of his path. Half remembered travels from so long ago...back when he was just a cub. "Funny...." He says after a long moment... "I feel like I should remember this...perhaps I don't because I was too small to climb it last I was here..." He leaps and lands just behind you. "Have you been here your whole life? I remember...that there was a plague of some kind..."
"Me? No," Kinyamkela laughed softly as she finally stood at the entrance and waited for him to join her. "There have been two plagues as far as I know... the second while I was still a juvenile learning to fish with Maji in these pools... the first before I came, the one that took Maji's family." And his, wasn't it, if they were cousins? She shot him an apologetic look before squinting at the hot sun. "I escaped the first... I was still travelling over the mountains from my own pride, the Tufaniwana. But my Steward... he was ever the Steward, he and his descendants, in place of the King of the Mistweavers whose brother had lead us over the mountains so many years ago. I came here with the blessings of my brother and Steward to discover the lands of my ancestors. And I found this!" She swept a paw out, indicating the jungle and pools stretched out now below them.
He listened so intently that it seemed he would almost devour your words and the histories... "Yes...its what killed my father as well....My other took me and left while she was still with child...a sibling I'll never know I fear...." He turns and gazes outward in awe at the jungles and pools below... his breath swept from him by the majesty. "She told me to travel on ahead...becuase she felt him coming...only she never came after...else I was just too lost in my way... Ive been looking for this place ever since...I could barely remember it...and yet...its more than I ever dared to hope..."
Kinyamkela felt moved suddenly. All these around her... at least she'd known her brother before leaving him, one of them to keep the ways in the Tufaniwana, one to discover their ancestors. Maji, Ramses, Enki... all had no siblings they could remember. She carefully kept to the subject now of the lands. "Enki... I'm glad you made it here, just as I did. We're... home now. Come, come see.." She brushed his leg hesitantly with her paw to distract him enough from the stunning view to follow her inside.
He blinks and looks a touch embarised...the wind tugs lightly at his fur like red tears over moss green eyes for a moment. "I....." the inside of his ears turning a light shade of pink and he looks away...touched to the core.. "Thank you..." he whispers and turns to follow you in.
Kinyamkela was oddly comfortable and extremely uncomfortable at the same time. Enki was so nice, so gentlemanly... just her kind of person. So why did she feel so uncertain? She shook her grey head and concentrated on navigating into the cool dim caves, letting her golden eyes grow accustomed to the light. Their claws clicked on the slightly damp rock, echoing in odd harmony as the lioness and her handsome new aquaintance went further in.
He follows you in...a pair of misty forms within the dark and cool of the caverns.....he takes a deep breath "It even -smells- Old in here...." He says letting go a deep breath of the heavy air... "Well....not -everything I mean...." He says ducking his head slightly embarrassed.
Kinyamkela appeared not to notice either the male's odd comment or his demenour; she merely smiled, pale in the gloom, and nodded. "The ambience is... old. But Maji lived here while he was a cub... he managed the strangest things with the magic here. Like heating fish, and putting grasses with it! So strange. But here, here is where we must look..." Her eyes were running along the wall and finally came to settle on his, gold unreadable even in the dimness. "See, the writings."
He drew himself up a little short as her eyes met his like a strike of lightning. He didn't understand at all what he was feeling when he gazed at her. It was as though the loneliness that clung like cobwebs in his heart were being washed away by the rain of her fur and the sun of her eyes. And here...surrounded by the history he had searched for...for so long...till his paws were callused like the parched earth of the salt deserts... He found it hard to tear his eyes away.. as though she were what he had sought this whole time and never known.... He swallows and pulls his eyes away to stare over the runes that covered the walls... His heart sank slightly to see so many diffrences in the way that he 'wrote'...so many rocks along his travels clawed and painted with blood or berries that now he realised was written in a manner only he would understand. And...that the histories were now staring back at him as though a haze that he could not quite understand. But he searched...searched the pictures for his own mark...for his mothers mark... He saw her...a pale lioness like him...the marks like his back wrapping like bracelets around her arms...and eyes...so green...beside her a lion dark as dusk marked with some great key... his mane the red-brown of Enki's own. He moved slowly forward a hollow in his chest... he'd found his family...his home...
Kinyamkela didn't understand what she was feeling. She had only just met this tall, handsome, shadow-eyed cousin of Maji's... but as the intensity of the gaze overwhelmed her she found it impossible to pull away, and it was almost a physical jolt as he finally turned his eyes to the wall. The histories... the hundreds of small lions marked on the walls, varied of pelt but all individuals, recognisable. She had searched as far back as she could, seaarching for her own ancestors... she knew not the legendary Jaha's markings, but somehow she felt, she knew that this was what was real, what their hollowed tree in the Tufaniwana lands was but a poor imitation of. This was all her family... but as Enki's grassy eyes sought the wall she knew he had found some much closer to him. She moved hesitantly closer to him. "Are those... your parents?" She asked softly, already knowing the answer before he replied.
"Yes...." He in a breathy whisper...."Yes they are......I....didn't remember my father...but thats him...I know it is..." His voice is hoarse with the rush of emotions that sweeps over him like a stormy tide.. "Im sorry...I don't know whats wrong with me..." He stares at the floor as though he c ould dig his way through it with his eyes alone. "I thought...I'd be so happy when I found this...but....I feel so empty looking at it..." He lifts a paw...trembling slightly... "But at the same time.... I feal at peace..." He whispers...turning to gaze back at you... "I just...I can't explain it...." He whispers...
"Peace. Peace knowing you have found what you sought all this time..." Kimyamkela struggled with words, trying to meet his intense gaze. "This place... is so strange. It strikes me differently everytime I come here, yet always so profoundly... I... cannot always explain to myself what it means." She looked down at the floor, finding it the safest place to rest her eyes for now. "We can.. return outside, if you wish..."
He reaches forward a large and callused paw and touches the side of your cheek... "Thank you..." He whispers.... "It means so much to me...." He leans leans in his warm breath tickling against your fur and licks the tip of your nose gently. He draws back embarrassed... "Im sorry... I'll...I just..." He whispers... "I'll...go outside..." He starts to shy away...embarrassed at his own actions.
'Kela was startled, touched, had the urge to return the gesture.... and reached forward involuntarily with one paw. "Wait.. don't be... don't go.. by yourself.." She stepped forward after him, catch green eyes with gold. But her impetuousness has been lost, and she subsides, ending up standing unsure by his side. "Let's go back to the sunshine. Enki...."
He smiles at you a sad smile of embarisment and something else..covering his own desire...lost in the heat of the moment and the cool of the cave. "Yes.....I....im rather partial to sunlight today..." He says smiling a secret smile as he gazes back into your golden eyes.
She dipped her head to hide her smile and invisible blush. "The water is cold today, and soon it will be too hot outside to enjoy it..." She wound the very edge of her tail around his foreleg before leaping gracefully off, pale form just ahead of him as she headed toward the cavemouth. She stopped in the entrance to look back at him, a silhuoette; she saw clearly his pale form with its dark shaggy outline. Such strange emotions...
He paused there savoring the lingering sensation of where her tail had wrapped around his leg... it had been so very long since the touch of a lion brought anything but pain. He'd been forever stumbling upon angry rogues or the like...it sent a tremble up his spine...He watched her as she leaped out like the wind would take her to wing. She was.....beautiful...like the dawn...like the rain...like the falling water... and to see her standing down there like some precious illusion...a mirage of a storm... his heart trembled for a moment in his breast with that indescribable feeling once more...and yet...he found he enjoyed it terribly... He leaped outward both in reality...and with his heart.
As the sunshine hit them Kinyamkela felt the strangest feeling. She had the lightest feet, the lighest heart; the odd heaviness and awkwardness of the cave vanishing with the cleansing light and water. She felt nothing more than to run, play chase almost, never letting him catch her; her only just adult frame felt the spring of her cubhood, yet overlaid with this true, new feeling. "You'll never catch me, Enki!" She called after ina playful tone.
"Is that a challenge my lady?" He calls bounding down the stones like a waterfall himself... his muscles the water his fur the mist... "I've been running a long time!" He calls ...and in his heart...he knows he's ready to stop...but not before....not before what? there is something he must capture...even if its only with his heart... for she's already taken his he realizes. What a fine hunter she must be... he thinks...to have stolen my heart and I never saw her come for it...
A burst of joyous laughter came from the snow and silver lioness as she darted through the spray, glittering in the sunlight as she playfully evaded his smiling attempts at capture. The morning dwelt on forever, until at last she sprang to the top of a rock and lay down on it, dangling one grey forepaw down towards him with a warm smile in her golden eyes.
He stands panting below you trying to catch his breath... gazing up at you as one would gaze at a queen or a goddess... . "No....I couldn't bring myself to catch the wind..." He breathes... "Its simply too beautiful when its free..." The spray still glistens on his coat like precious stones turning his mane to an almost bloody red where it twists it into wet strands... "I swear...your father must have been the west wind..."
She looked down on him, strong, tough, a traveller like she had been... and now they had reached their home. The water on his fur turned him to a sparkling alive creature, a creature of light and earth... some feeling she had never felt before filled her golden eyes as she stared at him, before leaping down, catching him by surprise and landing on his chest, forepaws on his powerful shoulders, a smile on her face. "You are a flatterer, Sir Enki," she whispered softly, before nuzzling her grey head under his chin, pale against that earthen mane.
He rolls with her tackle And blinks surprised...then delighted up at her...framed in sunlight . Turning her grey fur into a cloud haloed in rainbows "I speak only the truth...its all I ever learned" He says in a contented husky tone.. He draws a deep breath of her wonderful sent as she nuzzles him. " And I see beauty before me..."
"And I feel now more content than I ever have," she replied softly, her eyes filled with the glow of the rainbow sparkles. "Enki..." She seemed lost for words, the warm sunlight bathing them as they lay beside the pool filled with ripples of light. She delighted in his musky scent, his great mane, his way with words... she sighed happily and rolled to the side, one foreleg still draped carelessly across his chest.
"Now who's the flatterer..." he says turning his head to gaze at her....to drink her in with his eyes as the sun warmed their fur and the water painted patterns on them like some secret language of gods and spirits. ... "If I never knew...what I was searching for...it must have been you....else there is no lord of storms....I prayed every day for him to guide me....there were times I almost lost hope...but the rain always fell again like promise...I think...I just never knew what I was really asking for...if you'll have me...if you'll let me stay..."
"The Storm King has always smiled on our pride..." Kinyamkela replied with a dreamy look in those golden eyes. "I never realised what my life was missing... what I was waiting for.... Enki... it is you I wanted all along, I just never knew it. Stay, stay here... I never asked something more important in my life." The lioness was truly content... she had found her home, with him, at last.

Obi heard the chatter of others. They were not familiar voices, but maybe they were sent by his father to find him. Slowly Obi rolled to his feet than made his way in the direction of the voices. He poked his head out of the tall grass for a good look. From this angle it was hard to see any thing though. "daddy?" He whispered again. His heart sank as he stood there waiting for his dad to answer him. (( sorry, short post. -.- ))

Maji reached his paw up to clear his face of any tears that had built up, clearing his throat a few times. It simply wouldn't do to look like he'd been weeping... it was too often mistaken as weakness rather than an emotional problem. Once that had been addressed he began slowly forward, his eyes were drawn to the small bundle of brown, blonde, and white poking slowly from the grass. It had been difficul to see at first- he seemed to wear leaves on his head- and with his brown back he had blended quite well into the night time grass.
"Why... it's a cub." He slowly leaned forward, moving towards the little cub. He'd never seen such colors... how bizarre for a lion to be brown and gold...his mind returned to the records on the walls- the three colors of lions that were known to his tribe. A golden pride that lived quite a ways from there, and of course the red monsters of the firekin. Surely this cub was related to the golden lions. All logic said he was no mistweaver and no firekin would come close to these lands... they had no reason to... they had seen what they had thought to be the last of the Mistweavers when they invaded.... one of the very latest records.
"Your... father?" He addressed the young one now, reaching a paw down to clear the long grass away from the cub to give him a better look at him. How strange... just like Ramses only he had lost his mother.

Layla fixed the cub with an analyzing stare, absorbing his colors and adornments into memory. As Maji came up to see the cub she stepped aside and watched the exchange curiously, tail flicking absently as she tried to recall any lions that may have passed through that could pass for this cub's father. There were few adult lions that traveled through their borders and she avoided most lions anyway.
She paused a moment and leaned a bit closer to Maji, whispering in a barely audible voice, "none I've seen come through the border...share any, erm, appearances with this cub."
The lioness remained expressionless as she watched the cub, though a certain amount of empathy grew within her, the feeling of her own loss still a deep, though hidden, pain.

[[Posted from AIM again, gomen! And a dash of timeslip too...]] Maji Enki Kinyamkela
Maji walked slowly beside his cousin for a time. He'd been quiet all evening but hadn't turned down the offer to walk about the lands for a bit. It might help.. he wasn't sure. Ciyari had left... just up and left. It still hurt, burned, ached... especially to know that he might never know his children and they would know him only as a cruel dangerous beast who had forced their mother into bearing them and chaising her savagely from his lands. To think... he would be a monster in their eyes.
Enki meanwhile was trying very hard to come down from cloud 9...he felt terrible for his cousin...and his loss ..and to lose cubs...that must be even harder...He vowed silently to try and seek out the missing "Queen" ...to try and set things right. But he'd have to let Kela know first... he couldn't just leave her without a word...as quickly as she had come into his life she had become the center of his world...spinning him about like the storm she was named after.
"I'm happy that you've found love." He said after a long period of silence, lifting his head up a bit to offer his cousin a smile, "It does the heart good to see you so happy... to see that you're feeling that you belong somewhere. I couldn't be happier to see that you've chosen 'Kela.. she means a lot to me, take care of her."
Kinyamkela stole forward. She'd picked up his scent intertwined with that of her beloved brother Maji.. they must be walking together. She looked at the floor downcast for a while, even as she walked. The news was incredible, made her want to laugh out loud, to sing with joy... but how would Maji take it? After having had this chance she and Enki were given snatched away from him so harshly... was there any way she could make him feel like he could be redeemed perhaps through their own hopes...
Enki reached up a large paw to bap Maji's shoulder lightly.. "Don't seem so down...there are so many people here that know your worth...her words won't mean anything in the face of the truth... "I truly believe that people of our blood are -drawn- back here...I could never tell you how I found this place again...Or Kinya...and....Kinya!" He turns pricking his ears with the unbidden wave of joy he feels in her presence.
"I know... but I had almost had a family again." he sighed, smirking a bit, "It does seem that they're drawn back here doesn't it?" Kinyamkela hung back a little bit as she finally caught up with the pair. She swallowed slightly and then smiled brightly. "Maji! I haven't seen you in so long..." She padded up to the silvery male and rubbed his cheek affectionately before moving over to her mate, curling herself under his chin with a soft miyowl. "And good afternoon, beloved." The pair may notice something a little too put-on about the smile, perhaps her scent is different also...
He smiled, nuzzling her back softly, "It's good to see you...." Stepping back a bit to give the couple their space he seated himself back on his haunches, sitting upright as properly as could be expected of him.
"Are....you alright Kinya-love?" Enki says, noting her smile..."You look a little....."
Kela stepped back a little, looking uncertain again. "Oh, I..." She stopped and then started again. "I.. have something to tell you. You too, Maji..." Her tail flicked nervously until she realised and stilled it.
He smiled a bit, taking a glance to her belly. Again he had suspected... but wouldn't assume until he was truely confirmed. He remembered how Ciyari had started to look. None the less he tilted his head to the side, smiling softly as possible with inquiry.
Enki's ears tip comicaly...one up...one down...."W.....whats wrong..." he says anxiously.
"Nothing's wrong, exactly," And she smiled a small smile again at her suddenly flustered mate. And she hadn't even told him yet... she took a deep breath. "Enki, I... we're having little ones. Cubs." There, she'd said it. Her eyes flickered anxiously between the two lions she cared most about in her life, gauging hteir reactions.
Maji smiled proudly, his eyes glazing over a bit. He was proud... and happy. They deserved it more than he could express, "I'm very happy for the both of you. I suppose if I am... the prince here it's appropriate for me to give you my blessing."
"And you can see these grow up, Maji," Kinyamkela said softly. "I'm not going anywhere..." She turned back to Enki, who had not said anything...
"I....Cubs?.......Cubs........CUBS!!!!!" He sputters and tackles her. "I...I...I.....IM A DAD!!!!!!" He paused for breath before saying again "Imadadimdadadimdadad!!!"
Maji chuckled a bit, shaking his head a bit, "I am not their father, it's not my place to try to be as such... I will offer what help I can but Enki will be the one to raise them. They'll be magnificent."
Enki turns to stare at Maji "Would you pull that twig out from your butt! your going to HELP me you big idiot?! You were RAISED here...and your practicaly her BROTHER! I bloody demand that you be their godfather!....if thats alright with her I mean..."
Kinyamkela laughed and pushed her mate off lovingly. "Get off of me, you big lug..." Thank goodness they'd both taken it okay... she'd been nervous for no reason at all. Golden eyes all smiles, she scrambled upright again and laughed. "Calm down, beloved! Poor Maji..." "And of course it's allright with me. Nothing would make me happier." She cuffed her mate lightly round the ear with a grin
"Well that settles it then!" he says as though it had been, just like that.
He chuckled a bit, nodding slowly, "I'd be honored..."
The snow-and-silver lioness calmed her adrenalin-speeded heartbeat and finally relaxed. "So, what were you discussing as you walked and survey the lands?" Her expression turned serious even as she leaned into Enki's shoulder for support.
His ears went down and his smile faded, looking away. He didn't really want to go into it again. It would put a damper on such a wonderful event.
'Kela caught the look immediately, and hastily added "But if it's too deep and meaningful, I'm sure I would be more interested in finding out how much fish there are in the stocks.. do you know? For some reason, I'm more hungry than usual..."
"The.. fish are very low in number." He said gravely, "The river's running low... I've had to eat red meat for the last two weeks..." He looked a bit sick mentioning it.
Kinyamkela felt guilty once again for mentioning it. The weather had been very arid recently, it was true; the sky was sickly yellow in the evenings, and all in all it was a little ominous. She sighed. "Poor you..." she said, genuinally concerned. For herself, she did not really care, but when she did hunt, hunted away from the centre of the lands, where Maji's friends lived. But for him, who'd never been forced to it before...
" No no no." He frowned, "I cannot be a proper lion feeding on fish, no pity please, I must learn how to become what I'm to be and that's that." Tigryph: He cleared his throat, getting to his paws, "I'll.. uh... go get something to eat. Enki- find a nice room for her and yourself in the caves, make sure that it's warm and dry."
"I shall do My Prince...." he bows... "My lady...my precious lady of storms... I...don't suppose...you'd mind...leading the way? I swear to you to hunt for you as much as you need."
"No no." He chuckled, reaching out to put a paw on his cousin's shoulder, "You stay with her... fetch what she needs. I'll hunt as will the other lionesses here. I'm sure they won't mind."
Kinyamkela watched Maji with narrowed eyes for a second, before turning back to her mate. Somehow she'd upset him... ah, serves her right for asking the wrong questions. She pressed herself briefly against Enki's side, turning her thoughts to what must be done now. The adoring smile crossed her face as she heard his courteous name for her again, and laughed slightly. "Thankyou, my beloved lord. Shall we?" She twirled her tail coyly, stepping backwards towards the direction she had come, the caves and waterfalls.
He wasn't upset, meerely disappointed in himself. He felt sick thinking of killing another gazelle, and sickened that he couldn't gut it like the other lions.. he had to care for her... his dearest sister, his noble cousin. Tigryph: They were all depending on him to be strong and all he could do was feel sorry for himself. Smiling to them both he began out towards the boarders, "If you see Obi please tell him I'll return shortly. I'll get what I can."

Obi jumped back as the lion pushed away the tall grass. He than sank to the ground. low enough that the tips of his fur just barely touched the ground. "y-yes s-er" Obi squeaked nodding slowly than looking up at the lion. As the second lion came closer tears started to swell up in his sapphire eyes. None of these guys looked like any lion he knew. Their pelt was very different and in such a strange color. Every lion he knew was gold or brown.

Maji shook his head, his tone softening as he bent down towards the cub, "Oh no no... don't cry little one." He looked nerviously over to Layla... he hadn't seen any lions that resembled this one either. But he'd not let anyone give up hope. Looking back down to the cub he patted the small body with his paw, "How about this... I'll help you look for your father, how's that? But... it's a bit late." He smiled, nudging the cub's chin up a bit, "We can get you something to eat... and a nice place to sleep. You look like you've had a hard night."

Layla could feel her stomach rumble in protest at the sound of food, but she ignored it and allowed her expression to soften into a slight smile for the sake of the cub.
"I'd be happy to help search as well...I'd also like to keep the cub company tonight if it's not too imposing..." she really just didn't want to return to the empty tree she'd left this morning with an old friend and found herself here now without her. However she did feel bad for this cub and turned to look toward the river, feeling that Maji intended for them to eat fish. The last time she'd caught or eaten fish was as a young cub when Maji had taught her.

"Really?" Obi whiped the tears from his eyes and gave a weak smile. "Thank you Mister and Misses. -sniff- I'm a little hungry... " He looked up at the two and gave a weak smile. They did not seem bad. And the Big Fluffy one reminded him somewhat of his dad... if his dad were much younger and really fluffy.

Maji smiled softly, nodding down to the cub, "Well my name is Maji.. this is Layla." He gave her a smile and a nod at her request to keep the cub company, "You both are welcome into my home.. the caves may be a bit of a climb but they're warm and very safe. I'll go hunt and bring back what I can for the both of you... seems the cub isn't the only one hungry." A bit of a joke concerning the rumbling of the black lioness' gut.
He sighed, turning his head towards the boarder once more. He was going to hunt... not fish... but other game. He despised it so, to think that he played with the gazelle and zebra as a cub and now he was hunting them. He'd not hunt the local herds and thus why he took himself far out into the border to do so. He'd not killed one before, but he was growing so large that fish wouldn't substain him for much longer... and with the river having been growing lower and lower he was certain that there couldn't be enough fish to keep him fed for much longer.

Layla's smile faded into her calm, emotionless expression as she turned back toward the cub. Her features rising into surprise at the thought of Maji hunting, even more so at the thought of being left out of a hunt. She remembered quickly that the cub with them was still young and knew that Maji would not think it wise to bring such a small one. Instead she slipped toward the stream, looking over her shoulder at the lion. "Much appreciated...I'd be happy to watch...erm..." she cleared her throat hoping the cub would fill in a name, her purple eyes large as she stared at him pointedly wondering if he'd told her and she'd simply forgotten.
