i don't believe fay knew that the tattoo was going to be taken from him.
again , fay doesn't have the power to see the future, and fwr wouldn't have been able to tell him in any way (as, being a dreamgazer, he doesn't have the ability to see very specific things), nor was anyone able to predict that ashura would give him the tattoo, nor could anyone predict that it would become so precious to him.
i mean
he seemed a little surprised with the price as well.

but it only goes to show, that deep deep down, fay is a good person.. he doesn't want to hurt others..
ahah that gives little consolation at this point, though XD

and well. it depends just exactly what the tattoo was meant to do. some people say that it was to suppress the curse, some people say that it was to suppress him magic, some say both... (the manga.. was not all that clear on that. i think that was just a translation error or something, though)
i think that either way, he knew he knew that eventually he would have to kill someone, and that if he used his magic, it would only get stronger . but it's not like he had much of a choice.
after all, he wasn't really doing it for himself. it was on instructions and driven by his own wish..


speaking of which..

fwr never actually mentioned HOW his twin would be revived.... well. it's one of the things still to be tied up about his past.

well. its not like this was too much of a shock if you read the last few chapters with the wish and crap correctly..

i, since the LOOK (re:kuro) i had assumed that it was for fay. but not it was in fact for ashura.. so how will he respond to FAY'S BETRAYAL? cause technically, he hasnt yet... well.. the fact that he thinks ashura is a more pressing problem says something, no?

Meanwhile, Fai keeps remembering stuff from the past. And apparently, Ashura-oh is a beast... and now he has to defeat him. Maybe you're right, retice, he might have preferred to put him to sleep instead of killing him.

Why do I feel this chapter was so short? T^T It didn't really have lots of spoilers, did it?

i think it's a given at this point that fay just did not want to hurt ashura, even though he knew he would have to, and even though ashura, through all that time, knew that fay would have to.
ashura's not evil. he wasn't evil in rg veda. and they would not change it here. but yea
he's troubled.
again, this is not confirmed yet, and im guessing it will be with the next chapter, but it seems that yea, fay did put ashura to sleep in order to avoid killing him;.
but then, that raises the question of why fay was so afraid...
whenever ashura's name was mentioned and crap... like, yea, he would have to kill him, but i don't know. something there just doesn't add up yet. some aspects.. like.. think about it.
it just... doesn't .. it's very small , but it's just.. something. and perhaps this is related to the problem of how the hell fay expects to revive his brother, and how it was beneficial for him to go on the journey.
i mean, when ashura was speaking to fay about kurogane, he says that he will be an obstacle to his (fwr's) and fay's wish as well.. but i still dont see how it has anything to do with fay's wish.. unless fwr promised fay to revive his brother after he completed the journey.

of course, i don't doubt that fay's logic on that part is a little screwed up, due to fwr... so his brother dies, and he wishes to keep it that way, but then makes his mission in life to revive his brother, after which he can die..
then why didn't he just tell fwr that he wanted to reverse it when he asked?
i guess it would have to do with the guilt and manipulation going into it...

so, but still.. even taking into account fay's logic, or lack thereof, there are still some things that just dont' quite make sense..

and i would hope for those things to be answered in the next chapter, but, knowing clamp, they likely won't be answered until the end. with the confrontation with fwr. or further along.

i would say that making fay face the reason he was running away a pretty big cliffhanger..

im official freakishly confused again, like i was during that whole 'fay is a pawn' thing , and originally assumed that it was the second curse and that he hadn't REMEBERED that he was the pawn.. but then i found out differently.
now im feeling the same kind of uncertainty..
so what part of fay's shown past is fake?
i can assume that the whole valeria thing is real, cause the twin is there and crap, but .. maybe not the part with ashura?
does that perhaps mean that ashura's wish is different? or.. something? what does it MEAN??
and why the hell is ashura doing what he's doing anyway??? gonk gonk gonk crying
