I play french horn! wow, theres so many more girls that play the f horn in the thread than boys. im 1st chair in my school and made the honors music festival as 2nd (eventhough i was better than the 1st). but next year ill be in high school and a diff chair. 3nodding

I decided to shorten F. Horn / Horn in F / French Horn to just "Forn" now! =D !
Oh and I am pretty proud of myself. I have improved so much in the last few months, my range is now a low F to the high A!! ^_________^ v

i was forced 2 play trumpet this year, but now i can play the mello again. mellos way better

I just started to play French horn this year. I fell in luv w/ it . The section leader 4 french horns @ my School is also a drum major. I have never marched before and this year will be my 1st.
Once I had a friend ask me if I French Kissed my French Horn before. I told her no, and she said that she French Kissed her Basson! rofl
At my school this guy is switching from Tuba to French Horn! eek (I think he just likes another girl that plays French Horn. Too bad he is goning to be the only guy French Horn in the 7th grade!

I used to play the French horn, but this year switched to trumpet. I like trumpet, but have to say that the horn is definitely the most ear pleasing instrument I've ever heard. When reeeeaaally good people play, I melt.

Mellos/French Horns ROCK!! We try to claim ourselves better than our trumpets (which in some cases we are!). What I totally love about our section is that we do what we call MELLOPHONE SUICIDES. Don't take it literally, but what we basically do is every other person bends either down or up and left when drumline gives us a beat. Really fun when we speed up the tempo, but don't crash into each other or the people in front of you or beside if you are on the edge (sometimes it's advised not to do it if on the edge). MOST IMPORTANT: DON'T CONVINCE A TROMBONE TO JOIN, A FRIEND WAS SCARED TO DEATH WHEN HER TROMBONE FRIEND JOINED NEXT TO HER. MELLOPHONE SUICIDES ARE RESERVED FOR MELLOS ONLY AND ONLY DURING THE MARCHING BAND SEASON.
When I first saw the mellophone case, I thought it was HUGE. I could barely fit it in the bus.

I am now a senior in high school and love my french horn/mellophone. This year for marching band we are playing Thriller and Beetlejuice it's awsome. I can't wait for our first competition.

-Rebel Cheese- I'm the first.... and last chair French horn. That's right! I'm the only french horn player in our entire school of about.... 400, K-12. Tiny redneck school. Yes to us and the stupid redneck school. I'm lying. It sucks. Everyone is just too worried about the stupid football team... They took away our bus fundings and let the football team keep theirs... Not fair, right? It's supposed to please the predominantly "gangster/thug" and redneck people... I hate living in Florida...

I'm the only French Horn in the lowest band and will be again next fall (Freshman were good, I feel a bit of shame, ha ha), because I'm not so good with auditions. It can get lonely, but sometimes I get my own little solos.

I play a double french horn know and i love it =] but like lol im always the only one....lmbo next year in highschool i will be the only one still...the highschool band teacher told me *sweat drop* im like gold to my band teacher for some reason...its always awkward.... >.<

Trombones are the traditional instrument to do suicides with. There are about a billion videos on YouTube. I know that I'm talking about trombones in the Horn/Mellophone thread, but trombone suicides are so much scarier, although a nice smack of a mellophone bell to the head wouldn't be too pleasant, I imagine.
