georges serat, post impressonalism, a sunday on the la grande jatte, 1884, french post impressonalism, the true study of color theory, in pointalisim, the study of placing a complimint next to the color, he did alot of practicies
vincent van gogh, the night cafe, 1888, french post impressonalism, he uses color to capture the setting of a place 'one could loose himself' in. the reds are for evil, as the bar represented a place full of bad human behavoir. The japanese influence here is in the flat colors and the cut out look of the lines.

paul gaugin, the vision after the sermon, 1888, post impressionalism, french, the women are praying after the serman and the image is seperated with a tree (japanese influance) where they see the actual event the serman is about taking place. (the life of jacob).
paul gaugin, where do we... what are... where are we.. 1897, this french post impressonalism was painted before an atempted suicide, the figures reprecent the life cycle, from woman to children. The work it'self is worthy of gosphels, but the title has a rather pesimitic view.
