Sammantha frowned lightly as she listened to Joe vent his feelings. "The capes... are you referring to heroes?" she asked. The only type of people she ever heard being called a cape was a hero. By both "normal" people and the occasional frustrated villain that walked through these doors.

Big Joe nodded as he took a drink, "Yeah. At least two of dem, maybe three. Dat's why we need ta talk to your boss... ta make sure we're after de right ones. The description of one of them sounds a lot like you city's 'Bat.' But I wants to be sure. At first, dey kidnapped Angie and Chris to draw my boss out. A bunch of my guys went after dem with a pro we hired... It was a bloodbath. One of de pro's assistants did get Angie and Chris back, but de 'Bat' or whoever he is rigged a coupla small explosives...," Joe just took his head in disgust and anguish before he continued, "Whoever des mutts are... dey are really sick."

Sammantha's frown grew. "That certainly doesn't sound like our Batman." she said quietly. Making sure that none of the other tables overheard them. "He has a bit of a strict no-kill policy if he can help it. Especially those who aren't criminals."

"Sos... you think it's someone intentionally impersonatin da Bat? Any ideas as to who it may be den?" Big Joe inquired of Samantha, curious what insight the server may have. The lady has seen a bit of gotham's underworld.....

Sammantha pursed her lip in thought as her gaze traveled to the center of the table. ”That one's hard to say.” Sam began. ”Batman has a LOT of enemies here in Gotham, but the majority of them have their own identity and M.O. Impersonating him isn't part of it. Most would rather just get to him as themselves, most couldn't pull off trying to play themselves off as him, and nearly everyone knows better than to do that. Killing a family masquerading as the Batman is beyond asking to be beaten within an inch of your life by him.” she said. Then she sighed gently and looked up at the man. ”I don't... I don't think anyone here in Gotham would have the gal to do something like that. If they do, it would likely be someone like the Joker. Killing people and trying to get under the Bat's skin is definitely something he would do. But... I don't know about dressing up as him. There would have to be something funny about it, or something that would let everyone know it was HIM that did it.”

Penguin
Location: In his private office.
Company: Alone.
Status: Preparing to see another customer.

Oswald carefully hung up his phone and leaned back in his large chair. A smile wrapped around his face as he did so. Things were turning out to be quite beneficial for him within the last 24 hours or so. When Vandal Savage had come to see him the previous night, he'd been paid for a rather nice chunk of information. For whatever reason Vandal had also decided to buy Rebecca Morre from him, as well as pay off the debt her family owed him. As a gesture of appreciation, Oswald had tipped him off to new information on the woman Vandal had been wanting files on. That caused Vandal to come here needing more information. Which Penguin gave to him virtually for free. He would much rather have Vandal come here often rather than just on a needed basis.

And now... he had also just developed a business deal with Wilson Fisk thanks to the plan Vandal Savage had come up with. He would be getting paid for the tip he had given Fisk on his missing Spider, AND the files he had just sent to Fisks office. Seemed the poor man was having a bit of a BAT problem. While Oswald was unfamiliar with a Bat-woman, he knew a great deal of the Bat-man. So he had sent Fisk information on the Bats methods and such that could provide useful.

In return, if Fisk did catch or kill the Bat that was fluttering about his business, Oswald wanted information on the woman sent back to him. Photographs, descriptions, anything that could be given on her. If there was a woman Bat running around, he knew of quite a few rogues that would pay a fair price to know more about the new bat that was flying about.

It did trouble the man a bit knowing that THEIR Batman had not been seen in quite some time. He had by all accounts vanished from Gotham. Or... anywhere else it seemed.

But... he had other matters to attend to. Vandal was still in the company of Natalia in her private quarters. Emily had taken the rest of the day off suddenly... which was rather out of character for her. As well as the bloodied back the guard said that she had left with. It was a matter he would need to press with Vandal or Natalia once they returned.

He also had a new group of guests waiting to see him. With the urgency his staff had indicated, he could allow them a few more moments to wait while he prepared his office for a meeting. He would normally venture downstairs to meet with them, but with Vandal still being in the upper levels with Natalia... and Emily not being here to guard the office, he would not leave the office unattended.

Nothing personal against Savage, but Cobblepot wasn't an idiot. He had no intentions of leaving his office unattended and empty while Vandal was in the company of a woman who knew how to access the main computer.

Emily “Dew”
Location: Hiding on a rooftop not far from the Lounge.
Company: Alone.
Status: Attempting to gather information.

With no one in the hallway, Emily's little spider bot quickly made its way through the hallway of the upper floor. Darting from one corner to the next, the small metallic robot easily made its way to the door to Natalia's private room. With only enough space to slide under the door, the robot laid itself down on the ground. The long legs spread out horizontally, and the tips of the legs bent downwards. The ends began to move and walk the machine across the floor and under the door. A much slower pace than it could manage with the long stride of having use of the full length of the legs, but it got the job done.

Emily meanwhile sat hidden behind her perch on the rooftop. The tablet screen sat on her lap while her hands carefully moved the controles for her little robotic spy. The tiny camera on the front of the robot allowed her to see where it was going, as well as record it all onto her tablet. As long as she had enough memory on her tablet, she wouldn't have to worry about the limitations the tiny bot had as far as recording. All she needed to worry about was keeping the bot out of site, and watching that it didn't use up too much of it's battery power. It would be useless if it became trapped somewhere at the Lounge, and she wouldn't be able to just pick it up and hide it in her purse later. Too many cameras for that.

Emily watched the screen as she moved her little bot farther into the room. As Natalia had promised earlier, the wall was closed, the computer was hidden again, and her closet was closed and locked. She couldn't see them, and they couldn't see her. If the two of them did venture out, she'd hear the hidden door opening and have time to hide her bot. Adding to her luck, the file Vandal had requested from Cobblepot was still lying on the floor where she had left it. Browsing through the file would be much easier than trying to pull up files from Cobblepots room.

Emily smiled to herself as she put her little bot back into full operation mode, standing it back up onto its full legs. She then moved the bot towards the closed flap of the file, and put the bot into a more balanced position so that it could open the metal clasp that kept the folder closed. All she would need to do then would be to pull the papers out and get a quick look over each one. With the video feed recording, she could take a closer look at reading them all later.

Big Joe calmly ate some of the shrimp scampi, enjoying the flavor. A thoughtful gaze beheld Samantha, as she had explained how thing revolved around the Batman. The more he listened, the more Joe is convinced that the set of 'capes' that struck against the D'Amico crime family isn't related to the famous caped crusader. Big Joe did smile at this bright beauty beside him, "Sounds like your thoughts seem spot on. It has the ring of truth to it. Now that I's think about it, I've been hearin dat several made guys in Gotham have been whacked of late. What all have you heard bout dat?"

Sammantha frowned thoughtfully. "That unfortunately isn't an uncommon occurrence here in Gotham. It makes the news, of course... but it happens enough that no one really pays attention to it unless it's an A-lister that gets killed off. Most of the villains around here aren't shy about getting rid of whoever gets in their way." she explained. "If someone was killed off by "Batman" around here, it would be big news. But I haven't seen or heard anything like that on the news. If it has happened around here, it has been kept well undercover."

Big Joe just shook his head a moment or too and gave a long sigh toward the pretty redhead, "This is kinda depressing, ain't it? Let's talk about somethin else. Anywhere from what's goin on around 'ere ta what's goin on with you, if ya like ta share. It's entirely up to you Sam."

Sammantha thought for a moment, then gave Big Joe a small smile. "Well, there's not much to talk about as far as this place goes. It's been pretty quiet lately. A few people in a hurry to see the boss. Which is why it's taking him so long to see you I assume." she began. "And it's... pretty much just business as usual for me too. Not much to do other than work and pay the bills."

Emily, meanwhile, was still remotely spying on the files Vandal had left in the private room. She was surprised that she was able to look through them with her spider bot with little to virtually no problems. Vandal hadn't come out of the room yet, the only way they'd know the bot was there was if they came out of the hidden room... and there still seemed to be no one in the hallway. The only thing she had to worry about was the closet door opening.

Emily became distracted for a moment again as her phone bleeped on her belt. She'd gotten another message. She waited until her little spy bot had flipped another page, then let it go on auto pilot for a moment to let it record the full page. She could afford to look at her phone then.

She expected that it was from the Count, and it was. The message though... was not one she was expecting. Her eyes widened a fraction behind her helmet, and she moaned slightly.

A layer? No. No, no, no, no. That was a bad move on a normal day, let alone all the events that had happened tonight. Unless the guy was on Cobblepot's pay role, Emily Honeydue couldn't be seen going to a lawyer. That would raise way too many questions if she was seen. And if Vandal, or anyone who worked for him seen her, they could assume she was lawyering up. Or... going to one of her contacts since he knew that she was a double agent.

Right now would be the best time to go to see the man... Vandal was inside, Cobblepot was busy, she was in her suit... she wouldn't get caught. But... she'd have to stop going through Vandals files right now and put her spy bot away. She may never have a chance to try and find out what Vandal was up to or what he wants. And there was that added bonus of trying to tail him if he did come out before she left. So... it was better if she stayed here for a while.

But... Emily Honeydue couldn't be seen going out later. She wouldn't have control over who seen her and who didn't. She'd have to be in full costume again, be seen around in that new alias, act as though she was just going about a normal day... suppose it was something she could do in the morning. Cobblepot would be wanting to check in on her, but he wouldn't push her to check in. Because he knew she would. She hardly ever missed work, even with broken bones. It would be unlike her to not come into work, but he would understand her taking a day off to recover before checking in. She had already made an alibi for tonight... staying with one of her friends... so no one was going to say anything about her not being at her public apartment.

Thinking things over another moment.... she flipped her phone open to begin typing up a reply back to the Count. At least let him know that if she didn't come right over tonight, she'd be unrecognizable when she did come.

Big Joe thought for a moment considering the beauty of a redhead beside her, "Had a thought, if you's be agreeable... When you's have a chance ta, maybe we can's do somethin. What would ya like do actually do?"

"Oh...well..." Sam mused for a moment. "Honestly I don't know. I've never had much of a social life with work. Both this and my previous job. And I've never had the extra money to go and do anything really." She didn't want to say that any previous date she'd ever had sort of spoiled a lot of things. Going to the movies was stupid when tv was free and non-fattening. Dinners were expensive and you could get way more food cooking yourself...

Big Joe just nodded, understanding where this girl was coming from, "Tell yas what. You's choose what you want ta go do, and you's don' haveta worry about anything. I's a big boy; I think I's can handle de bill. Up ta yous.

"Oh...oh no, I couldn't. Thank you, but... I really couldn't afford a day off even if I wanted." she replied nervously. Then she jumped slightly in her seat as something on her hip began buzzing. Quickly, she turned her attention towards a small pager hooked onto the side of her corset. "Oh, looks like the boss is free for a bit now." she said as she quickly stood up, hoping for a change of topic now. "I can lead you all upstairs if you're ready to meet with him."
