Hal sighed deeply. "I'm not mad AT you. I'm just..." he began, then sighed again. "Go. Go spend your time with your mother. I'll stay here. If you wait to have fun, you might not get the chance to."

Carlie blinked, still frowning. "But... I wanted to spend time with you both... Family time..." she said softly. Carol frowned as well, and looked to Hal with a "Where are you going with this?" look.

Hal looked back at her and frowned. This time a much softer expression. "I'm....I'll still need to help you train. And I imagine there will be quite a bit of family time once the other lanterns actually start coming out. But for right now, I just...I need to get everything I can done. You haven't gotten to spend any time with Carol yet. Go ahead and spend some one-on-one time with her before we really get into the heavy stuff."

Carlie listened, but it seemed like she hadn't really understood what Hal had said. She glared at him, her expression very much like Carol's when the latter was angry at Hal, and blurted out: "You just don't want to be around me, is that it?! You wouldn't say something like this in my time!" before she ran outside of the room, and then out of the house, nearly in tears.

Carol frowned further, and looked to Hal. "Hal... I think there was a reason she said she wanted to spend time with us both. I understand you're stressed right now, but... you're still her father."

As Carlie ran outside, she was suddenly afflicted with what, to her, felt like a sort of crippling migraine. She fell to her knees, holding her head and whimpering, while a figure with a very large head floated above her.

"Oh... Look at you... Such a pretty girl... All scared and alone..." a voice said in her mind, and Carlie curled up into a ball, crying with the pain she felt. "Your greatest fear... is failing to live up to your parents' reputations? Oh... I see... you're their child...." the voice continued, and it seemed to become more... malicious.

"G-go away..." Carlie whimpered weakly, her eyes shut tight. "P-please..."

Hal sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Maybe at some later point in time." he mumbled. "So what was I supposed to say to that? Sure, lets go. But I'm going to be less than attentive so I might as well not be there?"

Alex watched the girl in the green costume breeze past her and out the door. She stared at the hallway for a long moment before the door beside her finally opened. She jumped a bit and turned to see who was finally coming out.

She was met by a rather...exhausted looking Warp. A shirtless and only in pajama pants Warp. He blinked and looked down at her. "Oh. Hey. When did you get back?"

"A while ago. Is everything alright in there?" she replied.

Warp yawned. "Define alright..." he said as he walked out of the room. Following after him were two facially identical women. Both in robes, one with long black hair, the other with shorter brown hair.

Sapphire followed out after the two, gave a brief glance to Alex, then turned her attention towards the two red-heads. She gave them a stern look and crossed her arms to let them know that she meant business. "Alright..." she said slowly. "You two can stay the ages you are now. BUT...you're going to stick with Warp for a while. I don't want you leaving this house until he can make sure that you're mentally caught up as well. After that, same rules apply for "going out". I don't want you doing anything without having some form of a group. This isn't our world, we don't have a team to come back us up if we get into trouble, and we don't know how most of the heroes or villains here work."

"And she's already got a short line of people who would love to find family members again." Warp added. That should explain all they needed to know for why she was being so....protective.

Sapphire turned and gave him a small look, but turned back to the twins. "...right. So I DON'T want to hear any backtalk about this. I'm not letting what happened in our world happen here. Not again. Most of the people who have a grudge against me won't be as kind as Blackstone was about keeping you. Do you understand? And most of the other villains I've seen here have some form of powers. I DON'T want you getting into fights unless you have back up and are absolutely ready to get into fights. Stay in the house until Warp can fix you up. Go out and get a new costume if you'd like. But no super hero stuff unless it's small. Am I understood?"

If looks could kill, the glare Carol was giving Hal would have disintegrated the Green Lantern veteran on the spot. "Yes, you selfish p***k!" she snarled. "What, you think that just because she's from the future, she's not your daughter yet?!"

She moved toward him, and then slapped him as hard as she could in the face, glaring at him all the while. "I figured you of all people would step up to the responsibility of being a father, but I guess I was wrong! You're as insensitive as you've always been, you pathetic--"

She stopped, and looked to her ring which was glowing. Through the connection she had made to Carlie, she could sense that her future daughter was in pain... a lot of pain, both physical and emotional.

"She's in trouble," Carol said softly. "If you care about this girl at all, you're going to help me help her!" she said to Hal, before turning on her heel and marching outside.

Meanwhile, the voice continued talking to Carlie. "These two... are not like the parents you had. They don't care about you... They don't even care about each other..." it said in her mind, projecting images of Hal and Carol fighting into her brain. These images were false, but Carlie wouldn't know this.

Carlie struggled to face the man projecting these images into her mind and tried to use her ring against him... But the pain was simply too much, and his words were causing her to fall deeper into her own despair. These were her parents... and yet she didn't know them like she had... Was what the man was saying actually true?

"Hammond!" Carol cried out in rage as she looked to the man: Hector Hammond, one of the first enemies Hal had gotten when he had first become a Green Lantern. The man turned to her, but Carol was ready for him: She raised her ring and blasted at him, while he used his mind to take a spare bit of debris from the alleyway nearby and used it to block her attack... Then he hit her with it, sending her into the outer wall of the Sanctum.

"THE GIRL IS MINE, CAROL!" Hammond snarled in her mind-- and inadvertently into Hal's mind as well.

Hal held a hand on the side of his face where Carol had struck him and stared at her. He stayed locked in place after she had spoken and left the room, still staring after her. After a moments hesitation, he sighed and followed after her.

Edel watched the two leave, a little dumbfounded that they had made a scene in here. Honestly.

The group in the hallway watched as Carol marched her way through the hall and out the door. Alex quirked an eyebrow, while the others watched with a little interest.

"Did we miss something?" Warp asked.

"I don't know. Her daughter just went running out a minute or two ago." Alex replied.

At about that point, something slammed hard against the outside wall, causing the group to jump a bit. The four looked at each other, then back at the enterance wall.

Alex paused a second and turned back to look at the other Green Lantern making his way down the hall. Suddenly he stopped and his eyes grew wide...and then the ring he was wearing burst to life and he flew towards the door. Alex's eyes widened and she turned to the others. "Open the door before he-"

Sapphire was already ahead of her, also having seen the look on the man's face prior to his take off. Blue strands had wrapped themselves around the doorknob and wrenched it open before Hal got to it.

The minute the door was open, a large green structure barreled out of the doorway ahead of Hal. Fully intended to slam into the large headed target with as much force as Hal could muster behind it.

Carol fell to her knees from the impact against the wall of the building, but ignored it as she heard Hammond's proclamation... and then she saw Hal burst out of the building; she could sense the fury he was feeling, and smiled. Maybe he did have what it took to be a father...

Hammond deftly moved out of the way of Hal's construct, and sent a telekinetic blast the Green Lantern's way. "Did I touch a nerve?" he asked mockingly in both Hal's and Carol's minds, before he telekinetically lifted up Carlie's limp, motionless body and brought it close to his.

"I dare you to try and hit me now!" he said, before a flash of green light blinded him momentarily, and Carlie, having used the last of her strength to perform that very distraction, fell down from the sky, only to be caught in Carol's arms and gently placed back on the ground.

The Queen of the Zamarons was now totally pissed off. Of all the dirty tactics! She formed up beside Hal and stared Hammond down.

"You sick b*****d!" she snarled at the telepath. "How dare you?!"

In response, Hammond started to take whatever was around that he could and proceeded to hurl it at the two Lanterns, fully intending to beat them into submission.

Hal was knocked back and sent into the wall of another building himself. He didn't stay down though. The moment his feet hit the ground, he was back up.

As Hammond gathered anything within reach and brought them down upon the two Lanterns, Hal brought his ring up and created a force field around the both of them. He grit his teeth as he forced the construct to stay intact and well above them as it was bombarded with vehicles, dumpsters, and other large objects.

Meanwhile, Alex and Warp were peeking out the ajar front door at the scene. Alex pulled back into the hall and looked at Warp. "Can you do anything?"

"Against a telekinetic? Possibly. I mean I could probably move faster than he'd notice. Stop time and....do something. That is if it's only telekinetic powers he has." Warp replied.

"Well...can you at least get the girl and bring her in here? I'm pretty sure those two will be able to fight easier if they don't have to worry about protecting her." Alex said, glancing back out the door.

Warp frowned a bit. "Not while they have that force field up."

Alex frowned and glanced out the door again.

Hammond continued his assault on Hal and Carol, getting increasingly larger objects to bombard Hal's force field. At one point, he even picked up a parked bus and hurled it at the forcefield, causing Carol to supplement Hal's shield with her own.

"Give up, and give the girl to me! I'll take care of her..." Hammond said in the minds of Hal and Carol.

At that, Carol lost it, bursting through Hal's force field at the closest opportunity and heading right for Hammond, her face contorted with rage. Her ring hand lit up as she prepared to punch Hammond's enormous head off of his shoulders... but then he sent another telepathic attack toward her, and she fell to the ground, close to her daughter, holding her head in pain.

As Carol took off towards Hammond, Hall released his shield and followed after her. As she was overtaken by the attack and fell, Hal again tried to create a construct with enough force to knock the man out of the air upon contact.

As Hal was attempting his attack, the door to the Sanctum opened fully, and closed just as quickly. During this time, C.J. just.....disappeared from her spot on the ground.

Inside the hallway of the Sanctum, Warp stood cradling the limp girl in his arms. Alex stood with her back to the door, as though she were going to hold it shut if anything tried to barge in. "Time and speed manipulation for the win..." she said quietly, glancing at the door, then back at Warp. "Is she alright?"

"I don't know. I have no idea what happened to her." Warp replied.

"Well...nothing should happen in here, right? I mean this is a magic house or something, so it should be relatively hard for anything unwanted to happen in here." Alex asked.

Warp looked back at her. "Well, didn't you say something about heroes being kidnapped? Even from here?"

Alex made a face and sushed him. "Alright. Put her down and lets see what we're going to do about helping them with Mister Big Head out there."

This time, Hammond was struck by Hal's construct and went flying a good distance before righting himself. "Oh, so you do care for her, eh? Ask yourself this, Lantern: Why? You're not married, you're not ready to be a father to this girl! Her memories of today prove it!"

Carol had had enough. She stood, and created a large hand with her ring, which grabbed Hammond by his head.

"YOU-- WILL-- NEVER-- HURT-- OUR-- CHILD-- AGAIN!" Carol screeched, her eyes holding a fury that was truly frightening as she literally hurled Hammond to the ground with incredible force, knocking the powerful telepath unconscious. Breathing heavily, she floated to the ground and stormed back into the Sanctum, her expression softening as she took Carlie from Warp and cradled her in her arms.

Carlie came to a few moments later, coughing and sputtering, and she looked up blearily into Carol's eyes. "Th-thank you..." she said softly. "Where's... where's Dad?"

Hal watched wide-eyed as Carol took care of Hammond with motherly rage. He paused there in the air for a moment after she floated away and disappeared back into the Sanctum. Then, he slowly came back down and created a construct around Hammond that should hold him should he wake up again. Or at least squeeze him into unconsciousness again. He was going to make sure that the man wouldn't be hurting anyone again.

Warp handed the girl over to Carol and stepped back. Alex watched for a moment, then looked back out the door. Deciding it was safe, she ventured out to see if they needed any help taking care of....whatever the guy was.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 22, 2011 5:42 pm

Carol smiled slightly, setting Carlie back onto her feet. "He's still outside, making sure Hammond won't get away." she said.

"Hammond? Hector Hammond? You guys once told me about him-- err, you will, I guess..." Carlie said groggily. "He... he said... that you didn't even care about each other, let alone me..."

Carol's smile faded a bit. "No... We do care about each other. Hal can just be an idiot sometimes..." she said, and Carlie let out a half-hearted giggle.

"Hey..." Alex called out, walking cautiously towards Hal. "You got everything?"

"Yeah. He's not getting away. I just need to find some place to keep him locked up where he won't....cause trouble." Hal replied. Did the place he was before even exist here? Is that how he wasn't still there? He glanced over at Alex. "How is she...?" he asked.

"The girl? She's fine. She woke up and her...mother?...has her." Alex replied.

Hal frowned a bit and nodded. "Good." he replied, then looked back to Hector.
