Hi guys, I am still around, though not on the net as much. Mostly I keep busy reading a lot of books. Right now I am reading a book called 'Make Do and Mend' and 'Eating for Victory'. They are about a bunch of informational phamphlets on cooking, sewing and minor home repair that was put out by the the British Ministry of Food and the Ministry of Trade during the second world war. They are good books if you are living on a budget.
Wow has my little thread GROWN! *SNIFF* I AM SO PROUD!

Princess Armageddon That's really cool! I have to start getting in shape myself. Yeah commuting by bike is awesome. I did it most of my life. where do you work? Squats are really good. I brushed them off because it just seemed silly... that I wasn't really "doing" anything. I've looked and before and after pictures of people just doing squats and it's pretty amazing. They're good as I can do them at work. I biked to work today; I'm in better shape than I thought. For work, I manage a small office, nothing big. It's perfect. @ wolfen26: Hahahaha. Glad you stopped in and you're doing well. Those books sound fantastic. I love old books. I planted peas last night. I hope they'll grow well because I love fresh peas. Going to plant a few pots of seeds too today.

pirhan I planted peas last night. I hope they'll grow well because I love fresh peas. Going to plant a few pots of seeds too today. I've put in three plantings of peas already, because I'm a little overzealous with the peas. The first planting had sprouted last time I was there, even though we've been at or near 0 a few times since. ------------- A pumpkin seed I saved from roasting last October actually sprouted when I put it in water this week, so last night I planted it in a big can. I don't actually want pumpkins, but I figure my shady window gives me delicate pretty cucumber vines so it might do the same for pumpkin vines. wink

I love peas. I think I planted about ten of them. I wanted to plant them sooner, but I am lazy. I'd love to grow pumpkins and gourds, but you need something like, 140 days, and I just don't have that here. (Plus bears apparently love pumpkins.) I'd love to grow some bird house gourds, but I'll have to live vicariously through my hair dresser. I gave her some seeds as she has a longer growing season where she lives.

I've got two plots this year at a local community garden, so I planted....uhh....about 50-60 peas redface I did at least 30 last year and it wasn't enough to save any, so I've dedicated a lot of one of the beds to them so I can freeze some and eat them in the winter. I think pumpkins generally *can* grow here, but they're such big plants that most people just leave it to the farmers. I'm hoping the light deprivation of indoors will make them much smaller overall, like it did my cucumber, so I can just enjoy it as a decorative plant and snip off any fruits that try to grow.

I've become a brilliant writer. I had no idea I had it in me. I've never done rp before, but I joined an advanced rp guild a few weeks ago and suddenly I'm the star of the show. I'm even starting to see what they see in me!
What a pleasant surprise!
Also, I got 2 more jobs! (I'm paying the bills with jobs while I look for work in my industry) Nothing fancy, just 5 hours per week each cooking and cleaning for some rich elderly people. but now I'll be guaranteed at least 20 hours a week!
what a relief!

I planted some dianthus, scabiosa, obedience plant and gas plant. I hope they do well. I opted to plant them in pots instead of the berm at work. That thing... ugh, it's so overwhelming, I just don't know what to do with it. I wish I could just take a big eraser and erase those hideous mugo pines, the patchy weedy grass, foot of gravel and replace it with top soil, so at least I'll have a blank slate to work with.
First week of May, my boyfriend and I are heading over to this frou-frou spa lodge. He got a deal through work, so it's all complimentary. I'm really excited as they have oysters which I've been craving for weeks. Also, going to take advantage of the spa and get a facial and go for a swim. I haven't gone swimming since 2009. sad

Oriole Lyric I received a pitcher plant from a friend. biggrin EAT ALL OF MY ANTS! I can has your ants? surprised Madagascar is currently under a plague locusts and the eastern section of the USA might have an upcoming infestation... I hope that entomophagy becomes less taboo in Western culture because I'd love to have a source of edible insects. Eating swarming insects is just a win-win in my books. (Ants taste like salted sunflower seeds btw.) I've also rediscovered my girl crush on Anita Sarkeesian. redface

I just cleaned out the basement, then I mowed my front lawn and backyard. I watered my flowers and several trees, recycled everything I had built up, cleaned out back totally, and then watered my lawn.
Now it's time to shower. :p

Freaky little monsters.

Trying to figure out how to make a small yet passive solar water distiller, so I don't have to keep buying gallons of distilled water for my carnivorous plants.
Any ideas folks?
