What should I do? I'm not entirely sure how to handle this particular situation, unless you want Connor to cut off Harvey's hand at the wrist.

Ah hell *flips for it* bad heads, the bomb is real. Fight him and risk it going off, or let him go.

Duct tape his hand closed so the button can't be released, and THEN cut it off.
That's what I would do in that situation. I'd like to say Match would too, but he's not that badass.... yet.
So yeah, duct tape the hand, cut it off. And then for extra points just sort of nonchalantly toss the severed hand to a young and inexperienced member of the police force.

Well Match has nothing to do. He could call and be like "Hey, could you bring some duct tape to the bank?" and then Match'd be like "Sure," and then GA would be like "Tha-" and then Match'd be like "Here ya go!" and hand it to him.
Which really isn't necessary anyway because thermite isn't actually explosive. I mean, if the hostages were like within a foot or two of the bags then maybe they might be injured. But that's barely even a bomb. It's like holding a large group hostage with a welding torch. Sure you can probably burn one or two people, but when pretty much the entire group could be literally tied up and avoid death by squirming then.... there's really not much threat.
To be honest, I thought it was supposed to be an obvious bluff.

Eric: Stray's right, Thermite is basically for cutting through things. You should probably switch it to glycerin or something that's actually explosive. That way continuity could be restored and there would be a real threat to the NPC's...

It was awhile ago, doubt you'd remember.
No, I'm not changing my bomb type. I know what Thermite does, I've seen it used numerous times in Mythbusters. I choose Thermite because...
A. It sounded fancy.
B. Its abit more exotic than your average bomb.
C. I couldn't think of anything else at the time.
Now, the tone will not be changed just because you two don't like my choice of fictional explosives, sorry but last I checked this was taking place in a fictional comic book universe.
