If anyone could charm a cookie from someone else it was Malikhai. He'd just clasp his hands behind his back, rocked on his heels and gave puppy eyes at whomever was handling the cookies or was near them at the time that they happened to scavenge for them. "The good cookies, not the little ones. Please." Of course that cute look he could work made he questions of runing thier dinner or if thier parents let them and what not go away.

She smiled sweetly at him as he sat down and started on paper. Oh how she learned to appreciate the paperwork demon in him sometimes. "Thank you A'mael. And we do know how to do it...there's just a lot to do and we get easily frustrated. A blink though, see it was those kinds of things that they missed seeing as they usually took to just the price numbers. It wasn't like they hadn't gotten this right before, that had many times before in fact...just sometimes they had bad months. "Yes yes A'mael, I know." Reaching over and giving him a kiss. "Busy with horses and children as well indeed. But that's why we have you to rescue us."

It had been a long greuling morn, a slow recovery, a mending that was still no complete. And yet Moonstone felt better these days, if not completely happy. He would not go into details the lengths he went to to settle his spirit. Kat's death had been such a shock, now so long ago. At first his mind had beenc louded with booze, until with the help of his brother he became sober and ready to heal. The extent of his powers, his spiritual abilites, he did not care to discuss. Calling Kat here had never been an option and he had fought with himself the entire way. He would not allow himself to cross that threashould of life and death, of his honour, his beliefes, so easily.

The medical clinik had expanded another floor, and he rented out the small flat at the top. Down below, a slew of patients waited for him every day, so much so that he had hired and trained two more medics and three nurses. It had come ton a point where he would no longer be sleeping and no one wants a tired doctor setting their broken arm.

They had developed much in three years. While moon still used the herbs when he could, him and his colleges had found cures for measils, mumps, polio, chicken pocks, teburculosis, and other such things. The populace of the underdark was no longer being whiped out but these illnesses, which not seemed almost harmless.

Warren spent less and less time at home. The small place he had with Eliot saw less and less of him, and now more often Eliot would accompany him. It was quickly become harder and harder to remain unknown. Those dedicated to the Earth God seemed to know they were in a holy presence. And Warren could not deny the ever increasing and odd activity that happen when we was amoung people. Grass and flowers would stretch out to him, grow as he walk by. Leaves would sprout on trees as he passed. Water became clear, air became fresh. It wasn't so bad in palces where some other go was more dominate, but still, it was uncomfortable.

Warren and Eliot had been all over the underdark world. They had been to places even the Drow had never seen. He had met and helped or hindered every manor of creature, Eliot along his side.

And yet he could feel the presence of others. Other powers. Sometimes he felt there were strings on his feet, liftening them one by one to a goal he never set. Or an abrupt change in direction that did not seem like his own decision.

He had been approached numerous times by the Others with offers of alliance, all declined politly. Warren had the feeling several someone's were pulling his strings.

Ashlyn had returned to the Fortress a short time ago, and no one could really figure out where or exactly when she had left at all. But she came back, all the same, to find a home full of strange poeple. She had an instant repor with the new children, and ever patient with them if they pulled on her feathers or beak, or rode on her back and kicked at her wings.

She still bit Malik though, if Piper wasn't around to scold her.

Now, she followed the two boys into the kitchen, sighing at the bottomless cookie pit these ones seemed to have. She followed the drow boys whenever she could, to keep the young tykes out of too much trouble.

Meilikki sighed as she went over yet another paper. Perhaps she would higher a scribe to to do the paperwork, she seemed much too busy to even handle this anymore. What with the constant bar on the mainlevel and Gerard relaying heavily on her for advice. She could still see some of the future, and helped wherever she could.

But this darn paperwork!" She rubbed her temples and set it down on the desk in front of her, sitting back a moment and running her hands through her hair. It was much longer now, just past her shoulders. It had finally grew. She looked healther now, not as pale as she was, a little rose in her cheeks. Her eyes sparkled with life where once they had been dull.

Soeaking of busy, she thought breifly of the elves in her care. Taratheil grew quickly of course, and all the elves and sometimes Meilikki were involved in his education. Although she thought sometimes the young prince looked rather bored. She was not privey to all the goings on of the prince's life, and sometimes she would go long periods without seeing him or the others, and she would wonfer what they were up to.

Sometime ago, she had taken a pilgramig to the First's grave. Unfortunatly, the impliment of the new Earth God had been to slow. The gasses had already crumbled the statue and the castle beyong it. The best she could do was leave Tanundra's and Alaran's hearts on the outer regions of the dead city, or risk being poisoned.

Deidrick was fully formed in body and mind, an adult. He was much like Tanundra sometimes, he carried out his duties loyaly and to a T. He seemed to have a sixth sense for the thigns his Mistress would need, might ask for. He stood garud at the foot of her bed at night, and took short naps during the day when she did her paperwork, or took a tea break in one of the drawing rooms.

It was not so easy for Onyx to spoil him anymore. Sometimes he would not take an offered treat or wrestle.

Aella had gotten used to the bracers. Placed on her feet or her hands she could execute moves swifrly (duh) and accuratly. She was no master, but the item had come in usefull. She was noted now as a quick messenger, a form of comminication. She could make it to the Fortress and back in less than a half hour, carrying news of war or pleads for assistance. Sometimes she was even sent to Deep Water or the Peninsula too.

Her and Onyx had gone to see many plays, and had become regulars in the pubs. Though she still refused to believe that these were dates. She wasn't so bad about the touching thing now, although once in a while she got spooked rather easily and ended up tossing someone across the room. She wore one of the necklaces and braclets that Onyx had made for her, altohugh she didn't like to think about what the red stones were made of. It had taken her a few faints before she even got used to the idea.

Roarke had been training his pups relentlessly. They were now well aquainted with magic, and many had painful scars from this training. Intense, backbreaking, dangerous training. He had built up in them a physical resistance to magic. They were able to withstand most lesser spells, and had learned a few themselves, most of it defensive. A new development of Roarke's, one that he was rather proud of, was what he called the "Release" or "Erase" spell. A counter charm for rune magic.

His pupils had developed into a machine, and he had given each a thick red scarf to wear as they would, to symbolize their graduation from pups into wolves. They were ready to send out into the world now.

Roarke still liked butterflies.

Ah they were quite a pair. Alone each of them could charm cookies very easily but together? They were a devastating force in the realm of cuteness. Loaded down with their bounty, Zykariel made his way over to the kitchen table and pulled out the chair then climbed up into it. He took a bite of a cookie and then glanced back. "Milk too please." A look to his friend. "Come sit by me Khai, we'll pretend we're negoshing."

Zahara watched the couple and surprisingly enough didn't feel the need to roll her eyes. She'd long ago grown used to their random shows of affection. When they got to be too involved, she excused herself rather quickly. She'd gone back to looking over the records they kept, sort of sloppily as Malik had so kindly pointed out and began comparing with how they had done last time they'd broken out the books, which didn't occur very often...at least not if she could help it. "Looks like our profit margin has increased though we might consider expanding once again. We're beginning to get dangerously close to the interbreeding again. Time for some fresh blood? A purebred would be best of course though there's that Zephyr Kieran mentioned in his last letter. He still available?"
PostPosted: Fri Oct 13, 2006 6:13 pm

"Here you go Ashlyn." Ashlyn was handed one of Malikhai's cookies and then he himself was handed his cookie and a glass of milk from the kitchen staff, as that same pne set a glass of milk down on the table for Zykariel as well. Toddling over to the table he pulled out a chair and plopped in it, taking to his cookie.

He of course had to dunk it in his milk, all the way more or less up to his wrist. A look over to his friend as he munched a soggy cookie. "It's 'negotiating' Zykariel." Though yes he did correct his friend, he didn't do it in condescending manner. That perhaps was a the difference between then that one could see, Zykariel had a tendency to mess up words since he lacked the benefit of being taught by his mother before even being born. "And I'll give you an oatmeal for a chocolate chip."

A look over to Zahara. "You know father keeps things in reserve for me until I tell him it's an absolute no, so that means that he still should be, no problems there. We just need to make priority who goes on market first, making sure to sell off the newer stock over our older right now." Because she wanted to hang onto those since the bloods ran strongest and what not in them and hey being not so normal horses, they had thier benifits. "We'll go back and check parentage and see what lines go where, sell accordingly to thin it all back out."

The old griffen gave a squak of thanks and took the treat gently in her beak. Ashlyn took a place underneath the table like a loyal dog, placing the cookie between her front paws and munching on it, listening for trouble.
PostPosted: Fri Oct 13, 2006 6:25 pm

"That's what I said." His standard answer when he was corrected though he didn't mind at all. It was true his mother hadn't communed with him and she wasn't really his teacher. But he studied the cookies and then shook his head. "Nope, but I'll trade you a peanut butter for the oatmeal." He liked to take a bite of his cookie and then wash it down with milk, dunking just wasn't his thing unless it came to chicken nuggets. Then it was dunking city.

"I thought so, so that will work out really well." She pulled out another book and flipped through that one aways till about the middle of it. "We have the 'family tree' started here though there's some updating to be done. Not much though." Picking up her pencil she began writing in placemarkers for those who were going to foal and those who had just been born and hadn't had names chosen yet. "Looks like we're one generation closer to our goal." That purebred flame feathered Nightmare hadn't come about yet, but it would.

Duely an oatmeal was tossed over to his friend. Ah cookie negotiating, it was a good learning tool all in all, taught them how to make deals and trades, all that good stuff. Though a look under the table and Ashlyn was tossed another cookie. Hey he liked feeding the 'family pet' as he knew her to be. She was great to reverie with too, nice and fluffy. "So what are we gonna do now? We're out of treasure."

"If I have my way, I'm getting that one this year. I don't painstakingly plan for something like this for nothing year after year. Though we better get things done because we're taking some time off here soon. Need a break to be with the kids and maybe go visit some friends, fiddle in new ventures or something. You know?"
PostPosted: Fri Oct 13, 2006 7:28 pm

Zykariel broke off a small piece of the oatmeal and gave it to Nym to eat, then pushed a peanut butter over to Malikhai. He took another bite of his chocolate chip and licked his fingers then took a swallow of milk. "I don't know. Maybe we should play knights. Ashlyn can be our dragon." He thought for a moment. "We need Keely though...and she has chores." So that didn't work either, did it?

"Time off?" A glance up at Piper in surprise. She was taking time off...that was interesting wasn't it? "Yeah, I suppose." She was content working still but hey Piper could take all the time she wanted.

AShlyn snapped the out of the air. Damn but she loved children. Why could master Malik be more like them? Giving her food, and pets, and keeping her warm when she slept. She munched on the cookie delightfully. Dragon? Sure I'll be your dragon. Roar. Munch.

Nym was just as happy as Ashlyn was about this cookie business, and was a little plumper than normal these days, his little ferret self being given a constant stream of cookies as long as he rode somewhere on that boy. A chitter of thanks as he took it in his little paws and merely chewed happily.

A look under the table at Ashlyn again as she munched cookies. Sometimes he had fun just watching her...that was probably something from Piper though he didn't know that. "Nym could be our damsel in distress?" Oh look, they were grasping for straws. It was hard to play their games sometimes when thier select group of women they used for them were all busy or weren't there. "We could always go bug the grown ups." Usually they knew better than when to bother them, but sometimes the need for attention overrode that.

Emperor Steelfyst was almost ready. his empire, though he was very, very careful not to interfere with Malik's interests. was becoming a very well trained war machine. Very soon the Purians would feel the wrath.

Onyx was quite pleased with his relationship with Aella. and yes, he considered them dating. though he knew she probably wasn't overly keen on the idea. He visited with Moonstone from time to time, to talk or to dicuss things that one really only felt comfortable discussing with family.

But he still wanted to beat Zell to a pulp for that one incident. Onyx did hold grudges, and whenever Roarke wasn't around, He and Zell did get into verbal matches, and always did that 'boozer' term come up. They hadn't come to actual blows, yet.

So right now he was preening, hoping to get to ask Aella out to a pub agasint tonight if she wasn't busy. hey at least he'd gotten to the dancing, able to hold her hand without her freaking on him point.

Malik was looking over the paperwork and chuckling lightly to himself about this bloodline buisness, and the interbreeding.

"I think you need more than one. you probably need a few more interbreeds and some others than Zephyrs. you could use a new Nightmare and Pegasus too."

It was just so amusing to see those two talking about the horses the same way the necromancers talked about thier experiments. speaking of which, is own Warhammer, the runic golem, was quite impressively doing his tasks as a guard to his tunnel to the other region.

"I also think we need to get a few more settlements in order, and I want to appraoch Deepwater again, adn the Purians, about trade or alliances. we've grown quite signfigantly in teh past three years, and your mother and Sevilin's little show did gather us some respect. I will hand it to your mother that the idea of an ariel dragon combat and using a necromanticly created looking dragon was a good one. and Sevilin did a great job with it."

A nod to Zahara. "I figure it couldn't hurt. Besides, it'll be nice to just relax a bit." But then a look to Malik and Piper gave him one of those looks that said 'pick and choose what"advice" because you don't want to make us look like we don't know what we're doing or I'll cut my hair'. Yes, that was how she'd been getting things to go her way sometimes these days, threatening to cut her hair which she had grown out specifically because he had wanted her to. "Well of course we could Malik, you want to get on getting me another nightmare then?" Because those were his department. She propped an elbow on the table, resting her chin on the back of her hand and gave a smile. "I don't think she's ever going to let you live down the stress that caused her, but yes it was a very good show. Mother is a sort of business woman and stratigist when you get down to it, and she had her brilliant ideas. Kind of funny to watch her and Sevilin trying to outdo each other though." Giving a little chuckle at remembering that. "Hm, I don't see the harm in that since we've carved out our own little niche here. So, you'll be making some trips then? Your son will have a fit."

Zykariel didn't look thrilled but it could pass he supposed. "Too bad Keely's busy." and Ashlyn couldn't double. Being the dragon meant she coudln't be the damsel too. He gave another piece of the cookie to Nym and scratched the ferret between the ears. "But I don't really wanna play with Nym as the damsel. Why don't we bug the grown ups and wait until Keely's done with her chores? It's just not the same with Nym. He's better at pirates. It's a boy thing."

Zahara nodded. "I agree. I told Piper we needed at least two or three more, preferably a mix of the sexes to allow for breeding and let's try to stay away from familial ties since that makes things so messy. We were considering how to ask you though since they are extremely hard to get a hold of." Her pencil tapped against the book again and she half listened to their conversation. A small smile overtook her when she remembered the show they'd put on. It had been something to remember, that was for sure. And she'd been proud, though why she hadn't a clue. Perhaps becasue Sevilin was her teacher? "So then another nightmare at least, preferably more, maybe a couple more zephmares of different sorts and another couple of pegasi? Not all at once of course. The business is doing well but we simply can't afford to buy that many horses all at once." She ran her hands through her hair for a moment and then snapped her fingers. "Oh and I forgot to tell you, I'm checking out a new potential buyer. I've got a meeting with him later this week and if he pans out, we'll be set for another purchase."

Moonstone currently was going over soem files in his office, which was packed full of file cabnits by this point. He had made an effort to keep everything catagorized. Every patient who came in was given a file and a case history and filed in the apporpriate place according to name.

The city had grown since he had established the medical center, which now had a sign hanging outfront, The Kat Medical Institute. Sounded smart, no? And Yes, Moonstone still wore the lab coat and fake glasses to make himself look kinder. He was still a big cat after all, and sometimes patients were still very afraid of him. His boots and black pants were still there as well.

They were located it was now know as mainstreet, almost smack dab in the middle of the city. Kind Gerard was offering funding options now too, since they had intigrated themselves so well into the city, and provided the still much needed employment that new cities strive for.

Rusty stumbled across the city loosing blood with each of the steps he took. He was in pain from the beating he took and angry at himself for letting himself get pushed over by some street kids.

As he walked he wondered why the people of this city weren't even asking him why he was bleeding but he didn't bother and looked around for an hospital or some place where they tend wounds.

"If only I knew those kids carried weapons... I wouldn't of bothered being smart with them." He thought as he spotted what appeared to be a sign saying Medical Institute or Modlcol In5lilulo. His vision was blurry which was most likely cause by his blood lost.

He made his way towards the medical center and as he got closer he could finally read the sign properly. He managed a small smile before frowning again from the pain.

Slowly he made his way inside the building and once inside he laid against the wall to make it easier to support his body which was feeling heavier by the minute.

He looked over to the receptionist's desk and sighed the short distance between him and the desk seemed much farther than it actually was. He pushed himself away from the wall and made his way to the nurse behind the receptionist's desk. "Urg... I think I need a few stitches." He spoke up weakly.
