Seph shrugged flapping her wings so she was hovering a short distance above the ground "You would be surprised at just how many mercenaries wander around on their own and now all of them are very clever. Did you know I used to travel around on my own as a mercenary? Only reason I'm here now is because originally Oassu hired me"
Hebal nodded running laps around Enkidu once he had settled down copying his earlier movements "I totally knew that. Should be mega greatful for Oassu otherwise you woudn't have met Itaka. Even if his senses aren't as good as say... us viera folk I'll bet Gil's reaction times will be super fast to make up for it"
Alpha chuckled concentrating for a moment on what the room would look like once done "Theres also a desk now in your room but the bed takes up most of the room. Figured you weren't exactly going to use it for training all that much since we spend most of our time on the airship doing overnight flights. Though if you tear it up things will get messy and then you'll have to decide on who gets the rest of it"

Satoshi gave a nod giving Gil's arms another quick examination "I thought you meant the arms themselves not the armour though why not tell me more about these operations you have me all curious about. You're making me wish I had something more exciting about myself to tell you about"
"It's a little of both depending on what kind of noble you are. All nobles get a nice slice of the taxes to fund their nice lifestyles but how they got such a right and all their titles and land and things varies" Hayate tried to explain stopping to clear his throat. "Basically there are 'blood nobles' and 'sword nobles' with the blood nobles being payed and given privelages simply because they come from a very good family and are in some way related to the ruler. The sword nobles however are families who have obtained the status of nobles as a reward for doing some great service to the king"
Elithana nodded surprised at Oassu's reaction "Of course there were fireworks and celebrations for you. Father decided it would be nice to celebrate it even with you guys not being present at the time. Any excuse to boost morale I guess but he's also quite happy that things are currently working out for us all even if its not the way he imagined"
Udoaver grunted glancing over his shoulder at the rest of the group "So which ones other than Gil got through? I haven't had the time to so much as look at anything tournament related. The general mood in Yithra was at an all time low after all the losses. Sure loads of people survived but many peoples homes including my own got completely destroyed by the Agralians so when you got engaged people jumped at the chance to have a little fun"
Felina sighed extending her arm out to indicate to the rest of the group that they needed to make a left turn into the other street "Makes sense dad would do that, it's like the oldest trick in the book when it comes to cheering a whole area up though I bet the rest of the elven world didn't make a big deal. Oh well, I can live without the fuss so long as we get all the items we need. Gilgamesh went through you already guessed as did Mari and Seph" she informed Udoaver pointing them out "They are really skilled despite not exactly looking the most threatening" she added noticing his somewhat surprised expression.

Gil frowned "It's not really an interesting or pleasant area of discussion but you don't need to worry I find you plenty interesting with all your quirky little ninja tricks" he chuckled.
Zadina nodded "So I'm a blood noble then...." he said "Oooh I bet I must be super rich the amount of money building up at the estate" he said clapping his hands happily "Still it would be nice to have a proper working job don't you think? I could make super equipment for all you" he said
Oassu chuckled "Well I dunno Seph sure looks threatening with her claws but Mari I guess we shouldn't be surprised at her swordplay is second to none would probably slaughter me in a straight fight" he said.
Mari shook her head "No I didn't know that, still I've never viewed the mercenary lifestyle....at least for most of them as particularly honourable, no loyalties or commitments, nothing to protect." she sighed "It seems a sad way to live, fortunately Sir Gil has some basic principles he sticks to" she said watching Enkidu begin lapping Hebal again as she ran.
Itaka frowned thinking they'd never use the desk "The deck is a better place for training anyway provided we are careful and the wind isn't too strong more open space there, still it's a means of transport not a gym we get plenty of training on the road anyway" he said

Seph raised her eyebrow lightly poking Enkidu as he passed with the tip of her big toe "Unfortunately there is sometimes little worth protecting with the whole politics thing going on all over and everywhere. Plus you know... commitments only last for so long when you live longer than a lot of folk too" she pointed out
Hebal giggled pulling a face at Enkidu "Stop showing off your awesome speed, I could totally go faster with my jumping and beat you in a race hehe. I think you would have been better suited to a career in chocobos personally. You are good with them and you enjoy chocobo related stuff so the fact it pays left wouldn't be so bad"
Alpha grinned nodding his head in agreement "I thought you would think that, Seph probably thinks similar too and I would rather you don't go making a mess of the airship and tearing up the new furnature. I got myself a nice comfy arm chair so I can at least sit down while steering which will stop the legs getting so sore. I'm not getting any younger" he added with a yawn.

Satoshi scratched her head still puzzled about the information "Ok ok as curious as I am I won't keep nagging at you for more information on the matter. The majority of my ninja tricks aren't all that great though, lots of ninjas can do exactly the same things and a ninja is lucky just to have one unique ability"
Hayate hesitated almost unable to believe what he was hearing "You know, you are probably the first noble ever to so much as suggest getting a proper working job on the side. I'm not saying I wouldn't be greatful, it's just most surprising to hear someone like yourself say that when given the choice, most people wouldn't want to work if they had the money to afford not to"
Felina laughed quietly watching Seph play with Enkidu a little "Seph is actually quite tough and definitely fiercely competitive when it comes to fighting even if she doesn't look as scary as the big fire breathing demon that is Alpha"
Udoaver scratched his chin not entirely convinced by Oassu's words "I highly doubt she would beat you unless she was very fast or you were particularly bad at avoiding hits. Based on that information and earlier observations I would guess that she still has to rely on potions which is never a promising sign. As for your demon friend... she seems a lot more tame than the ones I had to fight in the war but they can be unpredictable I guess. Would have thought the big guy talking to Alpha would have gone through"
Elithana smiled moving away towards Zadina now she had managed to get Udoaver more involved in the conversations "So how is my little cousin over here doing, have you been getting fashion tips from Hayate while I have been away" she laughed giving the cloak a gentle tug.

Gil chuckled "Well I think you're wonderful enough I can't help it these sorta things I need to travel alone, even a good amount of mercenaries travel in groups" he said.
Zadina paused "Well maybe it wouldn't be a job....more of a hobby to help my friends and further magical research" he said thinking about it "I think it could be great fun" he shrugged before tugging on his cloak defensively "Yeah Mr Hayate loaned me his wonderful cape and had his hat earlier" he said swishing the cloak about "Do you like it Elithana?" he asked.
Oassu chuckled "Well it's nice to know you have some faith in me but yeah she's not found a way to control her power yet so it's permanently draining her strength" he said concerned
Itaka smiled "I'd figured you'd pop something like that in though you really should keep Zadina training on it then maybe he'll be able to cover a night shift for you" he said.
Mari giggled as Enkidu slowed down alongside Hebal "That's true Seph but people can have commitments to villages or homelands rather than people who you can easily outlive but yeah you really do get on well with chocobos" she said

Seph shrugged "Was just saying it is more common than you might think for people to have no commitment and drifters pop up all over the place in this world. Even if you are tied down a little by things the pay is still wonderful provided you are good at what you do, could provide a comfortable living for your family and neighbouts. I did have a brief chocobo career though, spent a year and a bit working on a farm but... other stuff came up so gave it up to move away somewhere"
Hebal smiled nodding her head approvingly "Well that explains why your so good with the chocobos. But I can relate to you on the new start thing. Never thought I would be a blue mage making armour all those years ago when mean people kept trying to teach me to make love potions and how to curse lots of people I don't like" she muttered.
Alpha nodded again scratching his back "I know I know but he's young and kids need sleep or they won't grow so the night stuff should be left to me. Though someone to take over things in the mornings and evenings would be pretty good for me. Means I might be able to do something more fun while we're flying" he smiled.

Satoshi quietly laughed putting an arm around Gil "I think our group is a good example of that. We do the odd mercenary job still. Does it feel odd travelling around with us as part of a group? Is there anything about it you think is particularly better or worse then working alone" she wondered.
Hayate smirked patting his hat "Thats a little bit of a shame, it actually feels good once in a whle when you earn a little money rather than just have it given to you" he muttered moving to one side allowing Elithana "It's only fair that a noble like Zadina gets to try on and see just how stylish red mages actually are"
Elithana smiled and nodded her head as she let go of the cloak "Sure it looks good on you I guess but you can tell that Hayate is loads taller than you because of just how long the cape is on you. If your into capes I could always drop a heavy hint at your old uncle Elorin to get you a big fancy one" she offered.
Felina smiled producing a small white ball of magical energy in the palm of her hand "Mari will be fine with us guys regardless of the need for potions. I can always get to work with my healing magic too. I've already had to fix this guy's arm over a few days so I'm sure I could come up with a spell suitable to keep Mari from going " she confidently stated as the ball of energy in her hand began to fade.
Udoaver slowly nodded resisting the urge to examine Mari further "She shouldn't have to rely on others so much with potions and healing spells. She's like one of the new recruits people try to shove on me, completely unable to switch off properly. They keep assuming that someone of the same job class as the newbies is going to make a good teacher for some odd reason"

Gil shook his head "Nah mercenary work is negotiated, there are contracts and payments yet we haven't done a single job I can think of since being with you purely for money" he said "And I guess.....having to protect a lot of people makes things difficult but it certainly makes fighting easier." he concluded
Zadina giggled "Well no reason I couldn't make money from my hobby either Mr Hayate" he said "But yeah could you get me a super swishy cloak from Uncle Ellie?" he asked excitedly.
Oassu shrugged "She gets by besides even if she can't use her powers effectively she has great backup from her samurai skills so she can still fight fine even if she's not using her dark knight powers" he said indicating the group should turn into the next district.
Mari nodded "But the lack of commitment is often what bothers me about mercenaries" she muttered quietly "Still it's great you turned out as wonderful as you did Hebal, rather than being like one of those silly folk who captured you" she said smiling.
Itaka scratched his chin "Well....give the kid an early or evening shift means you can save your energy for the nightshift" he suggested "After all don't want old man Alpha falling asleep at the wheel when lying in bed at night" he chuckled turning onto a new street with more shops than others

Alpha laughed giving Itaka a light nudge in the arm "Well I haven't exactly fell asleep at the wheel yet and besides... if it all goes dodgy theres bound to be someone up to wake me again as I doubt you lying around in bed is the only thing on your mind at night when having to share, plus I swear Hayate is a closet insomniac"
Hebal nodded twirling around Enkidu until she begab to feel dizzy "Uhuh I wouldn't want to be like them. Apart fro m being so mean they always smelled horrible like of dead things and bad perfume. Though at the very least I do like the whole jumpy thing they taught me but you probably knew that already" she sung moving into a skip.
Seph smiled looking away while Hebal twirled as it was beginning to make her feel dizzy too "If it makes you feel a little better, the majority of mercenaries don't stay mercenaries when commitments do come up they feel are worth looking into. For example I'm sure Gil might be more than happy to give up the mercenary life if he thought Satoshi was his soul mate and wanted to settle down with a family"

Satoshi snickered stroking Gil's arm "Yeah well since you joined a big bag of commitments got thrown on us like with helping Oassu and Felina out. But you're looking at the whole group thing the wrong way, sure more people you may have to protect but realistically not many of these guys need someone to fight their battles for them for even Felina has some fight in her. Just see it as someone has your back and can help when its needed."
Elithana laughed ruffling her hair "Sure I bet I could convince him to get you one but got a colour and length preference. You'll be looking like some kind of super hero with the right clothing to go with it. Are you planning on taking over my job of keeping order within the city" she teased.
Hayate nodded his head smiling as he pictured Zadina posing dressed up like something out of a comic "You would make pleanty money doing hero stuff as a hobby too and I could always lend you an eyepatch if you wanted it as part of a costume" he joked watching a pair of gria flying overhead. "If you wish to practice enchanting weapons sometime I have pleanty that you can take from me"
Felina couldn't help but giggle a little as Cid buried himself into her busom tickling her "You shouldn't judge her by her dark knight powers for it is true that her samurai skills are remarkable. The fact she's done so well in the tournament should show that and I don't know about Oassu but I was really impressed with what I saw of her fight" she defended Mari.
Udoaver sighed moving to one side allowing a moogle to get past who was in a hurry "Ok ok if you say so and I know the fact she has got so far is a pretty big achievement. It's just from my experience being a dark knight myself it's only going to get harder for her if those abilities continue to develop"

Gil smiled "I guess you're right then certainly been easier than travelling alone and had some better benefits too like meeting you" he said happily.
Zadina shook his head "I don't know I just like capes but I wouldn't be able to do as good a job as you Cousin when it comes to keeping order" he said "But I don't need an eyepatch silly I have two working ones!" he said blinking.
Oassu sighed "You should give her some tips if you could, teach her how to switch off, that would be all she really needs I think otherwise she'll need to keep stocking up on potions and stuff." he muttered thinking about the medicinal costs.
Itaka stretching "Don't know what you mean sleeping is a favourite pastime of mine after all but yeah Hayate would be great if you got him to train as a pilot, he could easily take a nightshift let you get some proper sleep" he said.
Mari smiled "Yeah your jumping is great fun Hebal plus you are really strong as a result" she said happily "And I hope you're right Seph that's a nice way of looking at things mercenaries just have a bad reputation I think" she said

Hebal grinned as a sudden idea sprung to her mind "Say Seph, now your all full of energy and able to lift people. Could I have anotother flying lesson?" she asked the demon before bursting out into cheer seeing her sigh and nod her "Thanks hehe, as fun as jumping is I bet its not the same. I am also mega strong for my blue magic and enemy skill abilities I picked up though I am disappointed I haven't learned an ability from any of you lot yet"
"I'll give you a ride sometime but only when I think its a good time for it and I'm in a good not so tired mood" Seph sighed flying a little higher for the moogle to get through. "It's because one or two less picky about contract mercenaries spoil things for the rest of us mercenaries. You never know what will happen... but Itaka has a big chocobo farm so if we are still together after a while and theres no need to keep travelling about I might end up back working with chocobos again."
Alpha smirked shaking his head "You know what I mean Itaka. You and Seph, cold nights, getting closer and all that. I'm sure thats a past time you like just as much meaning less sleep" he whispered then cleared his throat "Already tried asking Hayate about that but he said no then mumbled something about how technology was overrated"

Satoshi smiled back hugging him "I'm sure Oassu and Felina right now are enjoying the benefits of having you around and I know I am for sure as does Terrato since you make such great company. And you know what goes around comes around, if by bad luck you get badly injured Felina could patch you right up and good as new"
Hayate chuckled blinking back at Zadina "About 3 quarters of all the people who wear eyepatches don't actually need them you know. Most are pirates who claim that by keeping one eye closed off it makes it easier to fight in the dark because one eye is already adjusted to it"
"Could always take you on the odd patrol with the newer recruits one day if you ever fancied giving it a go. Yithra isn't the most dangerous of the elven towns and cities by far so wouldn't be too tough for you" Elithana stated turning into the cobbled street.
Felina nodded her head in agreement "Or otherwise she will be constantly coming to me for healing spells that cost a lot of mana if her potion supply starts to run low. So if you could please give her one or two tips to help her out I would be greatful though don't tell her we brought it up or she might be offended"
Udoaver hesitated uncertainly "Umm... sure why not I'll give it a go if I get the opportunity to talk to her a little more though I'm not making any guarentees since it would be up to her to put the effort in in order to have a significant effect. She might not even be interested for all I know" he answered honestly.

Gil chuckled "I'm sure you do but hopefully it won't ever come to that, would have to be something incredibly strong to bash me up pretty badly" he said returning the hug spying Jenna an Barbaros up ahead at the restaurant.
Zadina frowned "Well it does seem like there's a certain logic behind the pirate explanation" he said scratching his chin "Still travelling with you might not be so bad I bet I could totally help with my magic spells" he said.
Oassu smirked "I know but I think she's got the determination to do this" he said "Besides she doesn't even need to learn much so long as she can turn off the darkness" he said.
Itaka grunted "Well that's none of your business but if we do get closer it won't be to listen up for you snoring at the wheel old man I assure you" he said waving to Barbaros.
Mari giggled "Yeah I bet you'd love to relax with Itaka on a nice little farm" she said happily "Though I didn't know you could learn our abilities with blue magic thought it was only monster stuff" she said surprised.
