Masamune 5.0 You can easily make up for Ike's slow speed by changing your strategy. Different characters require different methods to be brought out to their fullest. Indeed, but Ike has no fast attacks. He's going to require some work to get good with.
You'd probably have to get good at using the Super Armor to start up attacks.

If he's not the fastest in the game, the fastest will be ungodly.

I think that you may have to also get good at really predicting what your opponent is going to do and where they'll attack. Then you can prepare you attack and have them run into it. Though you would probably have to get good with other characters and know their best play strategy so you could predict what other people might do with those same characters. I hope that makes sense.

Makes perfect sense.
Or he's meant to be a Team Brawl/4 way free-for-all fighter.
He's supposedly unstoppable in larger Brawls.

Score one for the night. I'm still hoping we don't have too many sword fighters, though. I really don't like them, but damn, I love Meta Knight. o_o

What's wrong with sword fighters? I never main with them, but I don't see a reason to not like them. They're fun.

I don't know, I just think it kind of takes away from what I see as Super Smash Brothers. I like having a few, but less than 25%, please. I like Smashing, not sword fighting. I'd go play Soul Caliber.

If your opponents know that you will just wait, then they will either spam any projectile they have, forcing you to approach with Ike's laggy moves, and if they don't have a projectile, then they will wait just outside of your range until you make a move, and then run in and grab you, cause you won't have time to react, and by the time you click a button, only a fraction of your slow start-up will have begun. Ike's future isn't looking so good.

As long as they all feel different, I'm fine. It'd be like complaining there are too many fist fighters. I can understand if there's no difference between them, but they are all pretty different.
Plus, there's only 3 swordsmen in Brawl besides.

Plus, there's only 3 swordsmen in Brawl besides. Well, if Marth and Roy are in, along with Ike, Ganondorf and Meta Knight, then we have five already, not to mention the Ice Climbers and Dedede, which makes seven. I just hate fighting sword fighters because I use characters that you have to get in close with to lay any punches, and projectiles are only found in items, or on the stage itself. I suppose they all are pretty different, but I like fist fighting more in Super Smash Brothers more than sword fighting. Oh, and then there's Link, too.

Super Armor doesn't prevent grabbing. Also, @the last page, Ike's side B is a varied version of something like Fox's Side B I think. The only details I know are that it can be used for recovery and it goes sideways.
