Terryn yawned, curling up into a ball. "Marcus?"

Marcus nodded before seeing that her eyes were closed. He was decidedly out of it today, still in shock and trying to do some very difficult thinking. "Yes?"

"You do not have to love me." Terryn shivered a bit, drawing herself more under the covers. "It was silly of me t say it. I can take it back if you would like."

Marcus pressed her hand to his lips and kissed it. "No, that's alright." He hesitated before speaking again. "I might be glad of it, actually."

Terryn smiled a little, only half hearing what he had said. "Good night, Marcus."

Marcus waited for Terryn to fall asleep. When her eyes relaxed and he was quite sure that she was asleep, he rose and began to pack his things. He would have to find somewhere else to stay. That probably wouldn't be a problem. And he needed to find a physician--that could be arranged. And in this way, Marcus ceased thinking about her.

Terryn had rather fitful sleep. She kept having nightmares in which she was being pulled apart by men in black robes, being tugged and pulled this way and that until she felt like she was going to die. She woke up a few times, but tried to stay inconspicuous, leaving her to roll over every now and then but nothing else.

Marcus finished packing their things and slipped into bed next to Terryn. He hadn't slept at all last night, and the nap did him good. When he awoke, the sun was beginning to set. "Terryn?" he asked sleepily. His arms had somehow entwined themselves around her. "Are you feeling any better?"

Terryn only heard his voice distantly, feeling as though he were part of the dream. "Marcus..." She held onto him tightly, burying her head in his chest and starting to tear up a little. "Do not let them get me."

Marcus blinked a few times, instinctively holding Terryn tighter. "No, no," he soothed. So there had been two of them. Maybe more. His jaw clenched, but he rubbed Terryn's back in an attempt to comfort her. "There isn't anyone here. It's just me."

"Help me..." Terryn whimpered, trying not to think anymore on what was happening, but having no will as she was caught in her dreamworld.

"They're gone. They're dead," answered Marcus, still trying to wake her up. This wasn't like Terryn. It was only then that the magnitude of the event struck him. "It's alright now. They've gone. You are safe."

Terryn whimpered again, seeing the two men retreating in her mind but leaving her with evil glares. It was only then that she was able to wake up and look at him fearfully.

Marcus met Terryn's eyes evenly, and he was still massaging her. "You are safe," he repeated.

Terryn averted her gaze, unable to look at him. "Just go...I must not be of any interest to you now. I am all violated and undesirable and...and weak. Go find another girl to faun over you, I am just damaged goods."
