Exactly.

Maximos said, before finally putting the finger away. It was a deadly weapon that one.

But...

He tagged on, Maximos had a wonderful way of making perfect sense, but then completely contradicting himself while making an equal amount of sense. It was so very strange.

Only when your ready. I wouldnt want you to rush yourself and perhaps be burned by making something you arent proud of.

A nod, a stout one at that.

Being proud of a weapon before its ever put to the forge is very key, if you dont love what you make, you may not want to make again.

Like so...

I understand. I don't know. If my work is as good as you believe, I guess all thats lacking is my own belief that I can create something as masterful as you claim.

Ryugi would nod. His friend did indeed have his own way of contradicting himself with perfectly sound reasoning on both ends. But when they both made sense, who was to complain?

Well, if I DID make this weapon for you, what kind would you like it to be? I mean, there are lots of weapon types out there...

That was tough.

Maximos paused holding out both hands in front of him, he had to let them decide. There were infact lots of weapons, and he knew how to use nearly all of them effectively from his years of training...but...there was one. Only one. One weapon he preferred above the rest, his two hand met together, grasping around the hilt that wasnt there as Maximos paused for a minute the air holding an imaginary...

Sword...

He said, as his hands finally separated.

...I have to say, despite all the weapons I've wielded in my life, that sword is my absolutely favorite.

He nodded, affirming his statement.

A man with my own vision. I love all sorts of bladed weapons, but swords are definitely my favorite. I think my second favorite would have to be lances and spears...

You know...

Ryugi grinned as he imagined what kind of a sword he could make for his friend. Ryugi knew from experience that Maximos preferred combat based on speed and efficiency rather than power, so a large broadsword was out of the question. Perhaps something smaller like a shortsword or gladius would be better. But Ryugi knew of only ONE type of blade that was the epitome of speed and efficiency, and THAT was...

I think a katana or other such weapon of like design would be well suited to your combat style. What do you think?

Of course, Ryugi was already brainstorming ideas for his friend's "Katana Type" weapon.

Oh certainly.

Maximos chimed in.

It was funny that of all the subjects in the world that the one Maximos and Ryugi would agree so whole heartedly on was, "I like swords."

Theres something about the form and function of a sword that adds such variation, art and even class to a fight. And yet, if used properly, denies all of the above in favor of vicious carnage.

He smiled brightly.

While, I dont prefer the later, I find the variety itself fascinating.

The Katana, the very mention of the name brought back memories. The Nameless of old was in effect a straight katana, Maximos had trained with one, but never actually had the pleasure of owning or regularly wielding one in combat. Its speed and strength were almost unmatched, an excellent compliment.

That would be beautiful!

He said with the brightest grin like a child just offered a hint of a new x-mas present.

Its been years since I've wielded one, it would be a definite reason to shake off the rest thats built up.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 28, 2007 9:55 pm

Ryugi chuckled.

Well, any katana type weapon you'd get from me probably wouldn't be something you'd be expecting. But I'm sure you'll be pleased with whatever design I manage to create.

Ryugi would grin and turn back to face the open road. Time was passing pretty quickly. Afterall, when you focus on something else rather than the time itself, time seemed to move faster. And before long, the pair were more than halfway to their destination.

Oh most certainly.

Maximos said with another stout nod. Gifts were something of a big thing to the Shadow, every single one was precious to him no matter what it did or how it worked. Ryugi could have handed him a warped chunk of steel and it would have likely been one of his most prized weapons. That wasnt to say that he wouldnt recognize excellent craftsmenship or the real worth of the weapon. It was simply to say that any gift given to Maximos can only go above awesome.

And as he turned to take in the scenery, he suddenly realized he wasnt where they last left off.

Time most certainly flies when your having fun.

He said with a smirk as he began searching his pack for the rest of that bread.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 28, 2007 10:32 pm

That it does.

Ryugi's stomach grumbled a bit itself, and he pulled out his bread as well, continuing to munch on the sweet pastry, and took a few sips of water.

It may be time to take a rest soon, I think. What do you think Max? From what I can tell we're making excellent progress.

Sure!

Maximos immediately stopped in place, looking around, his hand wrapped around the straps of his backpack. He tried to find the nearest lump, rock, or tree stump to sit on, so that he could formally pull the bread free and sip some water.

He knew they had been walking on this road for a while. But beyond that all he knew was that he was very far down the road, and so, inspired by curiosity he turned to Ryugi.

So, where are we?
PostPosted: Mon Oct 29, 2007 7:01 am

((lol I woke up at 5am and wasn't tired enough to go back to sleep. XD))

Ryugi stopped and looked around a bit before heading off to the side of the road. He didn't want to block the trail and cause traffic. Even if said traffic would be few and far between. He took a moment to examine his position, his rough location in relation to the northern mountains, and soon came to a rough summation of his location as well as the travelers' situation.

Well, due to our rough location in relation to the northern mountains, I'd say we're a little over halfway to The City along this road here.

Off to the side of the road there was a small patch of small trees and some scattered rocks. A few of the rocks were large enough to make for decent seats, and the trees provided some light shade as well. Places like these made for welcome stops for travelers along the road. Little patches of green were common across the plains, but only a few were close enough to the road to make for a decent resting spot. Ryugi would take up a spot in one of the trees rather than sit on one of the rocks, and once comfortable would pop open his canteen and take a nice long drink, followed by munching more of his sweet bread.

Another Angaran Traveling Tip for you, Max. When traveling along a trail and you see a good spot to take a rest, make use of it. You never know when you may see another spot as good as the one you see now, and you might meet another traveler there too. These little spots are the best.

Maximos followed the curve of the mountains, then turned to take in the relaxing, quaint, and yet sort of beautiful surroundings where he had found himself.

Oh!

Maximos said, as Ryugi informed him they were nearly half way.

That certainly went a lot faster than I expected. This really is beautiful country.

Ryugi's advice was taken with a smiled and a nod. This was a nice place to rest, and while he already had a traveling companion, he could see where meeting more would be very enjoyable. Though, he had to admit that he was someone nervous around the folks that traveled this road. What with the Great War and all, some might not like those that appear so human. Though Maximos was Arian, not Gaian, such subtle differences are never noticed by the truly prejudice.

He was however trying his best to figure out the species of dragon each person that passed was, by a combination of their aura, and their garb. But to no real avail.

Ryugi would nod in response to his friend's observation. Angara was indeed beautiful. A lot of that had to do with the way of life that the people chose and lived by here. There was no pollution or deforestation since no large scale villages or towns were needed. There were no problems with destruction of the land for personal gains either. That resulted in the natural beauty of the land being preserved in ways nearly impossible on the mainland.

Yes, this place is beautiful alright. I've traveled all over the world, and no place seems to match the natural wonder of this Continent. I'm still amazed by its beauty every day I wake up and see it.

Ryugi would sigh pleasantly and look over the mountains and the plains from his position in the tree. Such a lovely place indeed.

I have to agree.

Maximos said with a nod. Aria had various types of beauty, deserts, plains, cities with their unique and gorgeous architecture, but for natural honest, pure beauty Angara held the title.

I would expect a higher appreciation for nature from a race as old as yours, but this...this is just breathtaking.

He munched a bit of his sweet bread, and took a small sip of his water. One lingering question rested on his mind, a concern if you will that sat in the way of complete comfort like a rock in his shoe.

Your people, Ryugi, do they still have a grudge toward humanity?
PostPosted: Wed Oct 31, 2007 11:28 am

Ryugi continued to look out at the sky over the mountains, watching the clouds rise and puff as they did.

Some do, the vast majority don't. As you said Max, we're a very old race. And we respect nature. We know humans are quick to judge and violent beings when threatened. So we can't really judge them too harshly. Its simply in their nature.

Ryugi turned towards Max and smiled, taking another sip of water from his canteen.

And nowadays we know that humans aren't quite as rash and judgmental as they used to be. We're still wary of outsiders, but we don't dislike them or chastise them.

Maximos nodded, and smiled brightly.

Very reassuring.

He said letting out a small sigh of relief. He had assumed some members of their race still had a grudge, but to hear that they were in minority put him at ease. Traveling with a dragon, instead of alone he was far far less likely to run into that sort of riff raff.

As wise as I'd hoped. Still, with that raging storm, you must not get many visitors here....or do you?

His head somewhat cocked to the side as he finished the question.
