Izumi put the blanket over his hand and once again nothing happened. Something told him he was getting closer however so he used what he had learned from his previous attempts and applied chakra to the blanket again.

Izumi placed the blanket over his hand and was disappointed to see that he had failed the jutsu again. And what was worse was that he had used the last of his chakra. He took a seat on the ground and stared off into the distance, thinking about how he could apply the chakra so the jutsu would be successful.

After awhile Izumi's chakra returned to him and he got to his feet and took held the blanket again. He was confident that this time he could do it with what he had come up with while resting. He put his hand on the blanket and put his chakra into it.

Izumi placed the blanket over his hand and frowned. It didn't work. He was sure he had it that time. Pausing only a moment to determine how to go about it next Izumi put his hand on the blanket again and put his chakra into it one more time.

Izumi placed the blanket over his hand and found that he had failed he jutsu again. This was more difficult then he had first thought. He sat down to regain chakra and stared at the blanket he held hoping it would help him figure out the correct way to do it. However it was just a normal blanket and so he turned his thoughts to other things.

His chakra recharged, Izumi stood and placed his hand on the blanket. he was positive he could do it this time and let his chakra flow into the blanket. Taking a deep breath he placed it over his hand.

The jutsu was a success and Izumi's hand was now essentially invisible. He covered the rest of his body with the blanket and took a few minutes to sneak around unseen. Then he took the blanket off and returned to Katare and gave him the blanket back. "I have successfully completed the task you have given me Katare-sensei."

Katare smiled... and threw the blanket back at Izumi. "You didn't think that was it, did you? Time for the real training exercise..." Katare sprinted down the canyon, measuring how far away he was from his student... Perfect. He began yelling to Izumi: "I am now 50 feet away from you! Now, eliminating your image is not going to guarantee that you won't be detected; you will need to be silent in order to succeed at being a shinobi! What I want you to do is get within 10 feet of me without being detected, but if you think you can get closer please try your hardest!" Katare shut his eyes. "You have 13 seconds until the training begins!"
(Okay, this is going to be a weird exercise. For each 5 feet you move, you must roll 2 20-sided dice. The first die is your move silently check. For this particular exercise, I want you to take the number rolled, and add 3+1 per five feet away you are from me. After that, you get to compare it to my roll. If my roll beats your number, I detect you. The second roll is your kakuremino check. If it rolls a five or below, the jutsu breaks and I detect you immediately. If you're detected more than three times, you fail the exercise.) (Oh, and you may attempt to go ten feet in one post, but you'll lose the bonus to your move silently check.)

(Due to my coming absense, I've calculated the maximum number of rolls that can be required, and rolled them all. For the sake of you not taking advantage of this, I politely ask that you not look at them until you need to look at each specific one, after each of your posts. I trust you to RP Katare's classic 'You can do better than that!' remarks. Oh, and I also advise you to work on your timeskip story, not to mention that you should choose whether or not to graduate the academy over the course of the timeskip, since I'm not going to hold you back if you choose to do so.
See you on Saturday, Sword in the Shadows)

(Ok I can do this. I've already got my timeskip story worked out in my head I jusy have to gather the will to type it. And Night already asked me about graduating and I chose to graduate during the timeskip.)
Izumi listened carefully to Katare and covered himself with the blanket. Katare had shut his eyes but that didn't make him any less likely to detect him. Izumi decided to take this 5 feet at a time. Silently and cautiously he crept forward inch by inch. Then inches turned into feet. At what he considered to be 5 feet he stopped and paused to see if Katare could find him. Was he successful?

(Hmm... Due to the fact that I just realized how hard thiws would be otherwise, I'm changing one of the rules: If you lose the Kakuremino, you lose all bonus to your first die roll. Oh, but that also gives me a reason to lower other things: Now, you fail the exercise the third time you're detected... Unless you're within 10 feet, of course!)

(Ok so that means that even though I lost Kakuremino 17>5 so I'm still undetected right? Thats good. 45 feet away)
Izumi was so focused on sneaking that he had forgotten to keep up the Kakuremino that was making him invisible. Luckily Katare had his eyes closed and Izumi was able to put his chakra into the blanket making him invisible once more. And so he began to move towards Katare again. Slowly and quietly he crept forward he even attempted to breath as little as possible in case that might even give him away. After he had moved 5 more feet he paused to make sure he had made it undetected.

(18+3+9>6 Success! 40 feet away.)
After awhile Izumi determined that Katare had not detected him and decided to continue moving forward. He proceeded even more cautiously then he had before as he was sure the closer he got the more difficult this would become. After he had moved five feet Izumi paused to determine whether Katare had detected him or not.

(7+3+8>6 Success! 35 feet away.)
Katare had not spotted him yet and the Kakuremino was still holding up just fine. So far this was fairly simple but it was bound to get tougher. Taking the utmost care not to step on anything that would give him away or trip on anything Izumi proceeded forward carefully and quietly. When he had proceeded 5 more feet he stopped to make sure he was still undetected.

(8+3+7>6 Success! 30 feet away.)
Katare had apparently still not noticed Izumi which wasn't unexpected but as he got closer and closer he began to notice that like moving fast moving slowly and quietly had a certain strain to it. The jutsu was holding and he was moving as silently as ever but he wanted to finish soon as he felt he couldn't keep doing this forever. After he had moved 5 feet he paused to ensure that Katare had not yet spotted him.
