That's not really an indoor mission. They just made the "sky" texture look like a caves insides.

-Mykal

oh really? Where did you get that idea? maybe because its supposed to take place inside a cave or underground?

If it's inside, it needs a roof. If there's a roof, you'll not be able to see what you're doing, because it's viewed top down. So they make the scenery look cavey, put it in ambient cave noises, and change the sky texture from clouds.
Storyline it can be inside a cave, and for all the angles you camera can give it'll look like a cave, but I doubt they'll code a whole new mechanic and stuff, along with 2 new races.

You missed the rest of that paragraph well enough though, eh?
confused

It's not actually inside, underground, or a cave. Look at those screenshots again, and tell me that the backgrounds aren't just a dome or wall and you can't see over. They're in the far distance, they're muggy, and nothing really joins onto them.
They'll just get darker and darker the higher up they get, and probably all meet together or just be a tall wall.
I've got the modmaker and although I'm not too great at it, I *do* know a think or two about both the level structure and infrastructure of Dawn of War, and the basics of videogame production.

yeah, the point of dong that is to make it look like your underground...hence the cave like appearance...
but if I get it, what your trying to say is, that your not undergound, but...its made to look like it...
So that means that my guys arent standing in a river in deadmans crossing, but its made to look like they are standing in a river...

Hmm, I do believe that if they get the negative defence bonus then they are in the water. Nice try at trying to make me look stupid though.
biggrin

The point I was making above was that it wasn't an indoor map, rather an outdoor map with a different sky texture.

To have it set indoors would mean they could also have a ship, or a hive world, or a mothership of some description, which would be very different indeed. There would be impassible terrain for even jump infantry, as there would be a ceiling, and other factors that come with fighting indoors, like it being cramped and stuff.
If you've ever played C&C Red Alert (I'm sure Mac might be able to know what I'm on about here) then the indoor missions there are a different scale and they're more like a maze than a battlefield.

But for DoW, this is all the same engine, just with different textures.

It seems here that both of you are repeating mostly the same thing....
Are you disagreeing with each other on the fact that it is made to look like it is indoors?
And actually yes you could consider it in doors, many games have a cieling and walls past the initial field.
A box around the field that is usually to large to bother reaching.

There may be no visible or tangible phsyical cieling but if you could follow a jump trooper with no limit on his jump.. he would eventually go THUNK against the flight cieling.

yeah, its essentially what im saying, I know its only made to look indoors, because its supposed to look like that, its a giant structure therfor those restrictions do not apply

Marines coming out of drop pods in that map would make no sense 0_o...
I never specifically said the level was underground and that it was a whole new feature and junk, I merely said that it appears to be underground and its a cool effect. Ug...I hated those indoor levels in C&C Red Alert, how do they expect you to take on all those conscripts with just Tanya....

Well, upon thinkin my options, I think im gonna try to find the means to make my own DoW movie
My friend is into digital animation and stuff, he can help me out, but are there any tips you could share?
I have no experience at all, I know that I can record the game, but im not sure how to save it so I can later review it and cut it up and add sound and all that.

Basicly, it will be a comedy, with a huge dash of action, lol

FRAPS!

Also, Windows Movie Maker ships with Windows XP and should work for most basic movie editing.

If that's the case, how do they land normally?

Uhm, maybe they don't fire the retro rockets used to brake just before impact.

Also, I must point out that those maps with the green backgrounds are NOT underground, but a manifest of the awesome green powers of the Necrons. Green lightning! Green skies! Green clouds! Green rainbows! Shamrocks! Shamrocks! And the Irish!
