Lin thought about it, honestly she didn't see why not. It shouldn't be hard to make it from the Eastland to back again in time. Not since they weren't going to go by horse now.
"I don't see why not," Lin murmured, "It would be interesting..."

"I agree," Earendil grinned. "And that way we don't have to rush our visit to Lothiriel and her family. After all, it's grown so much, we wouldn't want to have to leave from there quickly."
He hoped the visiting there would be more relaxing than here. Here seemed ... a bit rushed, a lot of going from place to place without taking a break in between.

"That's true...." Lin murmured thoughtfully.
It would nice to not have to rush and it had been a really, really long time since she had seen Elros.
"And depending on how Miyu's lessons with Ruque goes she might be around for the winter."
Well it would depend, with Yukito head of the magic class at the moment someone had to look after the medical wing.

"How much time would pass in your world then?" Earendil asked curiously. "I mean ... Miyu has a job there, doesn't she? Your mother said something to that effect yesterday I think ..."
Or maybe he had misheard. He had been a little distracted, to be honest.

"Roughly, guessing about a month here for every day there provided it stays the same. Miyu right now looks after the healing wing, as accidents do happen and students will eventually hurt themselves. Yukito looked after that area, but he's the only person Mom could trust to take over her position while she's on leave, as Elnara is also busy and Yue is just terrifying to the students."
And Yue wasn't fond of the students to be honest.

"Ah," Earendil nodded. "So she probably shouldn't stay for more than a month or so."
He looked thoughtful for a moment. He had always wondered what Lin did when she was back in her own world. She was here so often ... and yet he knew that she had to have things that she did in her own world. Perhaps not a job, as Miyu had, but ... something.
"Lin," he murmured, "in your world ... how do you spend your time? I mean ... not every moment of it, but in general? I've often wondered ... is there a job that you do?"

Lin scratched her cheek for a moment thoughtfully all the while trying to avoid grabbing hands because Miyuki decided it was fun to go for her feathers again. In truth Lin hadn't been an adult for very long before deciding to leave on her trip.
"I bodyguarded for a while, it was a temporary placement though. Sort of like a final assignment before I go off into the big wide world. I got that placement right after becoming an adult, and after that placement was done I left to sail with you. So.. before that it was a lot of learning, socializing... more learning..."
And trying not to punch in the faces of idiot teens while she was at it.

Earendil was surprised. With how much Lin had always talked about doing things, he had thought that she would have something ... well, major to go back to.
"What about when you go back?" he asked. "Is there anything in particular that you're going to be going back to? Besides your family, I mean. I know they'll be waiting for you. But I guess ... what I mean is, what are your plans for after you go back home?"

Now that was a good question, a she didn't have much time to really think about that.
"I'm not sure... normally I would probably go back and ask to be put on an assignment, but with Miyuki...."
Taking a baby on a bodyguarding gig would not be sound, but then again Lin did have a lot of family members who could look after Miyuki, but on the other hand she wanted what her mother had done and bring her kid to work.
Not going to happen, not unless she became a teacher and Lin personally didn't know if she had that kind of patience.

"Ever thought about settling down somewhere?" Earendil asked curiously, though his heart was beating rapidly. Still, he was doing a good job of keeping his emotions under control. He was just already beginning to worry that Lin would settle there and not come back, and the thought bothered him.

"Probably around here somewhere," Lin replied absently.
It was a decision she made young, when she realized outside of clan grounds she had so much trouble fitting in. She liked modern Gaia, but not it's modern attitude.
"Well not here, here, well I don't know I haven't quite decided where."
But she knew she wasn't happy staying on clan grounds, it was too boring that way. Here she could be anywhere and someday settle in where she could relate better. Sure they didn't have some of the Gaian values she was use to, but she could deal with that.

Earendil was startled. "Here?" he blurted. "As in ... this world? My world?"
He was amazed. The one thing he had never dared to hope for, would never have asked her to do ... she was saying that she was planning to do anyways!
"But ... what about your friends and your family back home?" he asked, remembering suddenly the reasons he had been so loathe to ask her to stay in the first place.

Lin looked thoughtfully at that, "Well it's no different than Arwen moving away from the Borderlands, true it's not the same as being a whole world away, but even she doesn't get to see her family. In fact for me, I have a bit of an advantage, not only can I still visit them or them visit me, but not a lot of time would have pass so catching up with them, knowing what is going on wouldn't be as hard."
Heck in an odd way it was giving her more years with her friends, all of her friends were mortal, some of them long lived but mortal still.

"There is that," Earendil nodded. "But wouldn't you be worried about how much time you would miss here when you visited back home?"
The moment the words were out of his mouth, he knew it was a stupid question. Of course she wouldn't worry about that. She already missed lots more time here than she missed at home. Why would it be any different if she settled here?
"Never mind," he muttered, his face growing warm.
The truth was, he had been trying to ask if she would miss him while she was gone. But he knew she wouldn't. She didn't. And they weren't together. So why would she? At this point, some people would even think it strange if she did. They all thought he was strange for missing her, after all.

"You know it's not as silly of a question as you might think," Lin replied realizing that Earendil had obviously thought he made a faux pas by asking her that question.
She didn't know why, after all if she had a life here how much time would pass here would matter.
"This is why it would be ideal to be living near one of the three portals or if I really had to ask for another one to be made. That way people can visit me since at most I could probably only visit a day."
