Closer, closer... Xavier felt his animalistic instincts rising faster and faster. When he noticed that Summer entered the water he surfaced extremely quickly, standing at his full height and manipulating his face to look like a sea monster or something similiar. He yelled something that had no meaning at all, but it was very loud and was similiar to a person jumping up and saying 'Boo'.

Summer jumped back yelping when Xavier jumped out of the water. She fell into the water with a loud splash and came up spinting out water. She then looked at him and said, "That wasn't funny," but she had a big grin on her face as she said it and started spiting out more water that she had swallowed.

Xavier was laughing a lot by now, sitting upright with half his body in the water and half on the mud surronding it. The mud eventually gave way to the green grass Lady was grazing on, but on the opposite side of them. He looked at Summer with dancing eyes and saw that she had swallowed a lot of water. He raised his eyebrows, standing in the water so that he could go over quickly if it turned out she needed help. He was still chuckling, but it was fading quickly and quietly. Lady rolled her eyes, it seemed, and continued to graze. She wasn't worried about them.

((OOC: Hey, Misery, point me in the direction of this RP and I'll take a look.))
Roman came out with Phoenix on a lead and stopped, lifting a brow at Kahlilia. "Giving the poor boy a bath?" he inquired with a grin, halting Phoenix. The horse snorted and tossed his head - clearly he didn't relish even the idea of maybe being forced under the spray himself. Roman noted it idly as something he would have to work on. Stroking the horse's neck to reassure him in the meantime, he waited for her reply.
Esmeralda started at a slow pace. She intended to get up to at least a canter by the end of the ride, but she needed some time, and walking was good enough for now. She was in no hurry.

Kahlilia turned the hose off and looked up. She put one hand gingerly on Benvolio's back, and laughed. "Well he didn't protest." She said when her voice allowed itself to come to her. Ben shook his mane, and the girl backed away so she wouldn't get hit by it. She was smiling and trying to force back a fit of laughter.

((OOC: Xavier did not react to his room. I AM DISAPPOINTED. >.<))
Roman smiled a little. "Clearly your horse is better-mannered than mine," he joked. "Phoenix is outraged by the very idea of going near that hose, aren't you, boy?" The horse snorted and tossed his head, eyeing the hose warily as if to say yes, he did indeed dislike the idea of going near it. "Baths clearly aren't his strong suit. I wonder how he loads," Roman mused. "If he's ever going to be a jumper, he'll have to get used to that sort of thing."

(Dammit I forgot to make him react >< I'll make him react - or blow up, even - when he goes back to his room sometime today.)
Kahlilia smiled. "Yeah, thats true." She said, coiling the hose back up in its place. Now that the girl was a distance away, Benvolio shook as a wet dog would, spraying water on all who were near him. Kahlilia let her hair down from the bun, seeing as how she was getting all wet and her hair was quickly falling from the updo anyway. She was laughing, and was somehow able to utter a semi-sincere "Sorry you guys," to them.

((OOC: Yeyz. 8D))
Phoenix jumped away from the spray, shaking his head violently. He made a sound somewhere between a whinny and a scream at Benvolio. "He's really not happy," cracked Roman. "Easy, boy. It didn't hurt." He glanced down at his now-soaking shirt. "I guess I'm going to have to go change once I've gotten Phoenix in his paddock - which I should do before we traumatize him for life, I suppose." Adjusting his grip on the lead rope slightly, he clicked at Phoenix and convinced the stallion to walk cautiously along the wet area. "I'll be right back," he called over his shoulder as he led the horse away.

Kahlilia raised her eyebrows when Phoenix made the strange sound. She gave Benvolio a small tap as though to tell him to apologize to Phoenix. Benvolio snorted as though to say "Its not all bad," and Kahlilia flashed a small smile. She nodded to Roman as he walked away. She talked to Benvolio in a voice that was lower than a whisper, probably telling him that he needed to be nice. The stallion snorted once or twice to her again and the girl couldn't help but laugh. She briefly wondered what made Phoenix so afraid of the water, and made a note to herself that she shouldn't ever scare him. She knew that could get her into really big trouble...

Roman came back after a few minutes, dangling an empty halter. "After all the work I put in grooming, guess what the very first thing he did was," he said with a self-deprecating grin. "Decided a good roll was just what he needed to get over the bath scare." He shook his head a little, thinking. "I'm going to have to work on that with him - it can't be good for him to never be bathed." Grinning a little, he asked, "So, are you still up for riding him sometime this afternoon, if we can get away?"

Kahlilia couldn't help it and laughed. "Wow," She said, and smiled. "I guess Phoenix is just that kind of guy, huh?" She joked, still laughing lightly. However, she stiffened a little when Roman mentioned riding the stallion. "Yeah, I guess so." She said, trying to hide the sudden wariness in her voice. She wasn't sure what scared her about Phoenix, but somehow, whatever it was scared her a lot.

"He sure doesn't mind getting dirty," said Roman drily, trying not to smile. "Wish he did, at least a little. It would make my life so much easier." He eyed Kahlilia askance after her dubious agreement. "Look, if you're not comfortable with it, just say so. I'm not going to make fun of you or anything," he told her. "I could probably get Ez to ride him - I just want someone besides me on his back so I can see how he moves." He grinned. "The last thing I want is for you to take a tumble off him - then I'm not only back to square one, but I'm there without you to help me."

Kahlilia closed her eyes and looked away for a moment before looking back at Roman and saying, "No, I'll be able to try it." She should break out of her shell, she knew she should. And this was the perfect time to do it. Take your chances, her mother's syrupy voice echoed again. It laced through her brain and made her feel strange. You don't know if you don't try. She smiled a little and subconsciously put her hand back on Benvolio's neck. "Maybe later on today," She added with a quick look to the sky. It was still early morning. They had a ton of time. "Its too early right now." Her smile seemed to brighten a little.

"Are you sure?" Roman wanted to know. "Because you know he'll sense it if you're afraid, and if you're nervous he'll start to think there's something to be nervous about. And then it'll all go straight to hell. If you want to put it off for a while and try later, we've got the whole summer." He was obviously worried more about Kahlilia's well-being than Phoenix's training.
Esmeralda rode around the side of the barn at an easy trot. Spotting Kahlilia and Roman, she waved. "Hi!" she called. She didn't resemble the girl that had talked to Kahlilia last night at all - now she was bright and smiling, to all appearances without a care in the world. "I'm getting back in the saddle! So no waving hats around, okay?"
