I was actually reading a series once. I read the first 2 and then found out they didn't have the 3rd 4th or 5th books, but they had the 6th one which was the last in the series.  xXx

Book burning... I think something just died inside of me.
@ Liger: I can imagine a librarian looking at a list of books to order saying 'Hmmm, let's see... 1, 2... and 6.'
I got a library book once with a couple of pages missing near the end, so I kept reading until it mentioned the death of one of the characters and I was all "Wait... WHAT?!?!?!" And yet another book with the very last page missing xd

That's not as bad as reading a series and the author dies before its completion, ie Wheel of Time.
