As soon as the Pokeball's light had vanished, Ky's hopes of his challenger lying had as well. Indeed, towering over the small Totodile was a Nidoking, looking just as powerful and threatening as Ky could imagine. A feeling of regret washed over Ky, both for enforcing the no-switching rule and choosing his first Pokemon so hastily. Sure, he happened to have the type advantage, but seeing that Rex hadn't yet evolved meant that the difference in power could be more than enough to ensure victory. Not wanting Rex to get pulvurized, Ky considered risking a 2 vs. 3 battle by calling Rex back. That is, until the Rocket Recruit spoke up.

"What's a matta punk? Scared?" the big guy teased, sensing Ky's weakness. "Well, ya should be. Two days ago, I evolved this guy as soon as I could, and he hasn't lost since."

Ky's heart lifted. "What do you mean 'as soon as you could'?" Ky asked with playful curiosity, feeling slightly less intimidated than before.

Not liking Ky's sudden change of mood, Stevo continued with irritation. "What I mean is he's only been a Nidorino a coupla hours at most. Why do you..."

"Shut your mouth you big dummy!" the girl yelled suddenly. Crossing her arms, she looked absolutely steamed. "Can't you see what he's doing?! Now he knows how weak your Nidoking is, you idiot!"

"But I..." Stevo started, thoroughly confused.

"Just attack him!" she commanded, rolling her eyes.

Now angered just as much as the girl, Stevo immediately pointed at Rex with one of his chubby fingers. "Nidoking, Double Kick that runt!"

Stevo's Nidoking, after waiting for so long, was happy to finally get to work. Being called weak by their team's leader was more than insulting, especially in front of such a pipsqueak! With his leg moving at impressive speed, the Nidoking caught Rex's jaw with a swift punt, launching the little croc helplessly into the air. Soon afterward, a drop kick followed, nailing Rex in the back and sending him face-first into the ground towards Ky.

"Rex!" Ky called out, surprised by the sudden attack. Even if this Nidoking was recently evolved, it was clear he was no pushover either. "Rex! You okay buddy?" Ky asked with concern.

A bit stunned himself, Rex picked himself up as he spat out the various chunks of dirt that got lodged in his teeth. He wished he could rub his back after that attack. That sucker sure knew how to kick! Looking up at Ky, he tried to see what made his trainer think he could take on a monster like that.

Ky smiled. "Hey buddy. Don't scare me like that. You gotta be paying attention! Now let's start off with a Leer, k?"

Not appreciating Ky's lecture, Rex turned around with a growl. He wasn't paying attention? More like he was caught off-guard! Glaring at the Nidoking, Rex shot a Leer with a promise: to do back double what those kicks did to him.

"While he's wasting an attack, let's not waste an attack with a Peck, Nidoking!" Stevo ordered, proud of his cool-sounding words (err... cool to him). After shaking off the glare of his opponent, the Nidoking charged at the Totodile until he was within range. He then jumped into the air, ready to come down to Peck with his hardened nuzzle.

"Rex, meet it with your special Scratch attack!" Ky called out, hoping Rex would know what he was talking about. Ever since Rex had sent Crenu's Poliwag flying with an incredible "Scratch" attack, Ky had been wondering where all the power came from. True, it was risky to test these things out in the heat of battle, but Ky trusted that whatever move it was, it was strong.

Watching as the Nidoking came down for his attack, Rex wished Ky had chosen a quicker move. Nevertheless, just like Ky, he knew how strong it was better than anyone else. Focusing like before, a small pillar of orange energy burst around the Totodile before gathering into his claws. Then, just at the last moment, Rex brought both his claws up to jab into the Nidoking's face. The collision resulted in a small explosion of sorts as Nidoking's relatively enormous weight behind his Peck met the pure power of Rex's Dragon Claw.

To Ky's relief though, an ear-splitting howl of pain soon came after the dust settled, bringing into view a Nidoking whose face was now covered by his own two hands, a noticeable trail of smoke escaping through his fingers. Meanwhile, Rex stood bending over and panting as he caressed his left arm with his right, a sign showing his attack didn't go through unscathed.

Ky couldn't have been anymore excited. "Nice Rex! You knew Dragon Claw?! That's awesome!" Ky shouted in glee.

"YOU MOCKING ME, KID?!" came a shout from the other side. Stevo looked absolutely enraged, as if his face was the one clawed and smoking. "Use Leer Nidoking! We're going for the knock-out!" Uncovering his Dragon-raked face, the Nidoking roared with a Leer of his own, the showing of his wounds adding to the moves potency.

"Not if I do it first!" Ky shouted in response. "Rex, Water Gun!" Being in point-blank position, Rex didn't want this opportunity to slip by. He didn't doubt the Nidoking's ability to deal a finishing blow, so he had to give this attack as much as he could. Leaning back as he built pressure in his mouth, he fired a blast directed straight into the Nidoking's chest.

Unable to dodge, the Nidoking could only endure as the blast of water tore at his heavily-muscled torso. The attack left him severely winded at the end, but still standing to the surprise of both Ky and Rex. Laughing meanwhile, was Stevo. "Nice try runt. Now it's my turn."

The girl giggled, full of mirth, at Robin's reaction. It had been quiet a funny sight -- her fellow trainer had made such an astonishing scream and had scuttled away with such a strange series of movements. However, as Robin caught her composure and had whirled around to give M.A. such a lovely look of death, the girl, abashed, stuck a hand behind her head. "Sorry, sorry. Couldn't help it!" said she with a slightly repentant smile.

"And I just sorta woke up and was too lazy to fall asleep again; my three followed me for a walk around town," she explained, gesturing vaguely at her Pokemon at her feet. Robin's scream had woken Ulani up, and she resentfully cast her groggy look around.

"How 'bout you? It is kinda la--"

SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

M.A. swore she saw the stars, she had jumped so high. Or maybe it was that flash of light. "What the Hoppip was that?!" M.A. yelled, her ears still ringing and unable to convey to her brain how loud she was speaking. Nearby, building lights flickered on, windows and doors opened for a second to investigate the sound before slamming angrily down. She could hear the murmuring now that her ears had regained their sense of sound. The little squares of light were swifty put out once more.

Glancing around the corner, she saw that Kilik, Mitsu, and some weird fellow with Charizard wings... Were those real? Nah, couldn't be. But Kilik? She thought he was sleeping... What was he up to, blowing things up and all?

Kasiya had raised her hand to wave at the Mudkip girl and was about to say hello when she found her path to be blocked by a rather tall boy, maybe about her age or so. He had shaggy brown hair, bright blue eyes and a lopsided smile. He was wearing what appeared to be grey swim trunks and a white t-shirt. "Hey, you want to battle?" he asked casually, tossing a Pokeball up and down. Kasiya saw him study Ada for a moment or two. "Just a quick one on one?"

Kasiya shifted on her feet a bit before nodding. "Okay, sounds all right to me. One on one it is." She gave the nod to Ada, who jumped up and down in excitement, rubbing her hands together as she quickly took her place in front of Kasiya. "I'll be using my Larvitar!"

"She looks... spirited," the boy laughed, trying to push his bangs from his eyes. This proved to be in vain though as they fell right back into place. Kasiya couldn't help but giggle a bit - the boy was rather good-looking. "And for a spirited Pokemon like that, I've got just the opponent!" The Pokeball he'd been toying with was sent spiraling to the ground, and from it erupted a large, imposing Pokemon. Kasiya's eyes widened at the sight of it and she subconsciously took a step backwards - it was a Pinsir.

"Wow, a Pinsir..." she murmured, trying to remember if she'd ever fought one before. Ada didn't seem to be intimidated in the slightest, even though her opponent was twice the size of her. Growling, the Larvitar stood on tiptoe, trying to make herself look large and imposing. Still thinking, Kasiya pulled her PokeDex out of her pocket and scanned the large beetle.

"Pinsir, the Stagbeetle Pokemon. This Bug-type Pokemon is tremendously strong. The thorns protruding from its powerful horns help to ensure that once ensnared, the prey has little chance to escape. A Pinsir will grip its foe relentlessly, and what it fails to crush it hurls with all its might. These Pokemon do not like the cold and bury themselves deep underground to slumber." the device prattled on in its dull and boring tone, and Kasiya didn't really hear the last part - she was too busy thinking about those nasty horns the Pinsir was sporting. She closed her eyes took a deep breath and calmed herself - this was a Bug Pokemon and Adamantine was a Rock-type, so they had the advantage, right? Kasiya opened her eyes and looked to the Larvitar. They both were ready.

The sound of the waves crashing on the beach made Kasiya sigh a little, and as she eyed the swell breaking onshore she started to work out a strategy in her mind. The boy seemed to be giving a pep talk to his Pinsir, but he turned to her when he realized she was watching him. "Oh, by the way, you can call me A.J.," he called, patting the Pinsir on the head before it trotted out to face off against the Larvitar.

"I'm Kasiya," she replied cheerfully, trying not to laugh as Ada nearly fell over backwards from trying to stand up so tall. The fact that she was rather heavy and kept sinking into the sand made it difficult to do so. She finally gave up trying to look bigger and instead just glared up at the bug, not caring at all how big it was.

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Kasiya," A.J. replied. "And since I'm such a gentleman, I'll let you make the first move. Ladies' first, and all that jazz." He doffed an invisible cap and gave a mock bow, which made Kasiya giggle again.

And they say chivalry is dead, she thought with a smirk, kicking up a bit of sand with the toe of her shoe. "Alright, Ada! Let's get this party started with a Sandstorm!" It seemed like the obvious thing to do, since they were pretty much surrounded by the stuff. Ada's gaze shifted to the sandy surface below her feet and she raised her right arm. Slowly, a small vortex of sand began to swirl around her, steadily growing larger until it consumed the makeshift battlefield. Kasiya covered her nose and mouth with her hand, wincing as the sand stung her exposed skin.

A.J. did the same before calling out to his Pinsir, voice barely audible over the now-raging Sandstorm. "Pinsir, use Swords Dance!" he commanded, running a hand through his shaggy brown hair and sighing - sand wasn't easy to get out of one's hair! The Stagbeetle began to sway and move, its steps careful and timed. With each bit of movement its body began to glow with a red aura, and Kasiya knew all too well what Swords Dance did for a Pokemon. She couldn't help but worry a little as the Pinsir's dance came to an end, the words 'tremendously strong' from her PokeDex ringing in her ears.

Hearing M.A.'s story Robin just nodded, that really sucked not being able to go back to sleep, it would be so busy tomorrow to. At least her pokemon were going to keep her company, unlike a certain member of her team that she was SO going to beat the crap out of when she got her hands on him. Ok she wouldn't really, but he would get a stern talking to, which of course would do nothing.

(to copy Yuu's sound effect.)
SHEEEEEEEEEEEEKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

At the sound of the explosion Robin fell to the ground and let out a long string of curses that were drowned out by the loud boom. By the time the sound ended she was left sitting in the road, Brook in her arms still, and her ears were ringing. Razputin who had been buzzing around was pushed a few feet over by the sheer force of the sound. The poor Yanma looked pretty dazed as he did his best to keep himself still in the air, deciding to rest a moment until he could hear again he landed himself on top of Robin's head.

"What the hell was that." Robin grumped as she picked herself off of the ground. First she is scared half to death and now she was half deaf. Glancing around she finally saw the battle and frowned. "Hey you idiots, some people are trying to sleep!" Ok so she wasn't trying to but it was the thought that counted. Right now Kilik was not a person she was happy with.

Across town due to the explosion Luffy had been forced to cover his ears with his paws as best as he could. Sometimes it was no fun being able to hear so well. On the other hand this cool loud sound was an even BIGGER mystery! Completely forgetting the shiny napkin now he pulled off his headband and pulling on Hat again he headed off to where the sound had originated from.

Kilik blinked and looked around. He could see the faint outlines of Robin and M.A. down the road. He slapped his forehead and felt pretty bad: his guess was that the explosion woke them up. "I'd like to finish this now," he explained, "Since your Bannete isn't nearly as strong as Flygon, it should be easy! Bahamut, attack with Crunch!" The dragon let out a squeal and flapped her wings, jutting herself into the air. She looked down at her target: the small puppet Pokemon that floated below her. With her foe in sight, she flew straight down with her mouth open. Dark silhouettes of fangs appeared in the air and clamped right down onto the Ghost below.

Mazarin winced along with his Pokemon, who fell to the sand with a thud. It barely managed to bring itself back up before the zipper on it's mouth began to twitch. "Okay, okay. Enough games. Banette, use Shadow Ball!" With a high pitched and muffled giggle, the ghost began to shake violently. The zipper burst open with a very loud and terrifying laugh. A ball as black as night shot straight out, flying towards Bahamut with impressive speed. The Marionette Pokemon cackled into the night sky as the zipper rezipped itself.

Kilik shivered. That Pokemon of his...was absolutely horrifying. He felt the goosebumps go along his arms like ants. "Bahamut, try and dodge it!" he barked, but he knew it wouldn't work. Flygon felt the attack go right to her chest. It dug deep in and was absorbed into her body. All of her fears seemed to come out in her mind. Her head shook and she cried out in anguish. Kilik took a step back. What it appeared to him is that all of her nightmares were being brought out in her mind. "Fight it!" he said. He slammed his eyes shut and tried to focus on his Pokemon, hopes riding to get into her mind. It wasn't working. Maybe he was still too tired? After a few minutes of crying, she managed to collect herself. That was it: that Banette was going down soon.

Mazarin laughed loudly, pointing at the large green dragon. "What a big baby!" he slapped his knee. Muffled laughs were coming from Banette as it swished about in the air. "One Shadow Ball and it's whining. Your Flygon is poorly trained, Kilik! I expected better from ya!"

Kilik clenched his fist. "We'll see."

At long last the duo found themselves wandering into Mauville City and Keegan sighed loudly with relief - the journey had taken almost twice as long as he'd initially thought thanks to the fact that he'd ended up walking the whole way. By now it was second nature to walk to the Pokemon Center and he started in that direction, but stopped shortly after when he realized Sheena was trailing behind again. He motioned for her to hurry up - he didn't like being kept waiting when one of his Pokemon needed healing. "Come on, we're almost there," he told her, trying not to sound impatient but not overly nice about it, either. "Don't you want to get treatment for Sparky?" Sheena only nodded meekly and the two continued on their way. Before long they stepped through the sliding doors of the Pokemon Center and were greeted by the welcoming breeze of the air conditioner. Keegan sauntered right up to the front desk and practically thrust Artemis' Pokeball at the nurse. "My Swellow is in rough shape, can you heal her, please?"

The nurse nodded, taking the Pokeball in her hands. She leaned to the side a bit, spotting Sheena waiting patiently behind the boy. "Isn't it more gentleman-like to let the lady go first?" she asked, a hint of playfulness in her tone.

Keegan raised an eyebrow and folded his arms across his chest. "Maybe so, but I ain't no gentleman," he retorted, to which the nurse just laughed.

"I'm not overly busy today, so I can help your friend, too," she said, gesturing to the pink-haired girl to come forward, which she did, reluctantly.

"My Minun," she said quietly as she held out the Pokeball for the nurse to see. "Please take good care of him." For a moment it looked as though she were going to start crying when the nurse took Sparky's Pokeball from her, but she held back her tears and put on a brave face.

"Don't worry," the nurse said gently. "I'll do my very best. It shouldn't take too long, why don't you guys rest up a bit?" Her smile was quite disarming and Sheena found herself smiling back, and feeling much better. She knew that losses were just part of battling and being a trainer but sometimes it was still hard to accept them, especially when it felt as though she had been at fault for that loss. Maybe if she had recalled Sparky, then Artemis could have... No! she thought bitterly. That's enough of that coulda, woulda, shoulda stuff, it's time to move on!

"Oh, that reminds me," the nurse then said quite suddenly, pausing in the doorway of the treatment room. "You must be Keegan, right?" she asked, pointing at the redhead. Keegan nodded, now wearing a bit of a confused look. "I've got a message for you!"
=====
Sakura seemed to relax a little when Miharu tensed up. Satsuki raised her arm up, looking at both trainers before bringing it down. "Begin!"

"Espeon, start off with a Quick Attack!" Sakura commanded, and almost instantly the psychic type shot forward, white light traling behind it as it honed in on Sparkle. The Flaaffy's eyes opened wide at the sight of the Espeon charging at it and at the last minute she sidestepped, feeling the rush of wind blast by her as she narrowly missed being plowed over.

"Sparkle, counter with a Thundershock!" Miharu shouted, suddenly feeling a little nervous for Sparkle. She hadn't battled many psychic Pokemon before and she knew they could be quite tough. The Flaaffy let out an angry bleat before she sent a bluish blast of electricity flying at the Espeon. Still having momentum left over from its Quick Attack, however, the psychic type was able to avoid the blast with relative ease, much to Sparkle's dismay.

"Sakura and Espeon certainly have improved," Komay said nonchalantly, nodding in approval.

"Ever since Espeon evolved, they've been working really hard," Temayo added, also nodding. Miharu tried not to pay attention to the sisters and focus on her own Pokemon. She knew that she had improved a lot recently as well, and she needed to do her best in order to prove that fact to the five sisters.

"Knock it out with Double Kick, Nidoking!" Stevo ordered. Still infuriated by the small croc's attacks, his Nidoking was more than happy to deliver a finishing blow. Staring Rex down, he delivered a swift right kick to the side of his opponent's face, followed by a roundhouse kick with his left leg.

Exhausted, Rex couldn't bring up his guard fast enough. The first kick hit so hard, it sent the poor Totodile's head spinning, leaving him wide open for the second kick, which landing just under the same spot, was more than enough to send Rex to the ground, out cold.

For the second time today, Ky was speechless. Apparently, he had badly underestimated his opponent. He had thought Rex's Water Gun would be enough to take the Nidoking down, but instead, it stood looking both strong and satisfied, with his trainer laughing in approval.

"See Cassie? My Nidoking's not weak!" Stevo called to the girl as he returned his Pokemon. "This kid's a piece of cake!"

Trying to ignore Stevo's words, Ky walked over to pick up his fallen Pokemon. Looking at Rex's face, he was glad to see that the kicks had hit the left side, leaving the right side's scar unharmed. Rex's slow breathing didn't cause Ky to panic as he did back in Violet City, but walking back to his battle position, he couldn't help but let a couple of tears fall while the Rocket Recruits weren't looking.

Having seen this, Tracy walked over quickly to take Rex out of Ky's hands, placing a firm hand on Ky's shoulder. "Hey, don't worry about it. You got beat but so what? The next time that Totodile gets up, he's gunna be twice as strong; trust me. No one likes to get beat, but you've got two Pokemon ready to take on whatever those Rocket Runts got up their sleeves. You hear me?"

Liking the sound of Tracy's words, Ky looked up. With a quick wipe of his arm to clear the tears away, he pumped his fist with approval as he turned around. "Let's go Sting!" he cheered. And with that, Ky's Beedrill was quick to the front, buzzing and punching with excitement. He had wished the opposing trainer hadn't returned that Nidoking; brawling with that would've been fun.

Instead, the other guy from the gang stepped up, holding the Pokeball out with a grip mimicking the choke he had on Ky last night. "Well, I guess since I can't beat the crap outta you, I might as well copy Stevo and beat the crap outta your bug, with my bug. Go! Ledian!" the trainer called as he threw his Pokeball with a flick of his wrist. Coming from the ball, an alien-looking ladybug-Pokemon burst forth, hovering above the ground like Sting.

"Boys," M.A. muttered, an elusive frown on her lips and a crease in her brow. They reminded her, in this instant, of her brother a few years back, when he had gotten into a fight at two in the morning with some boy who had harassed her earlier -- they had woken up the whole town when they somehow managed to set off the PokeCenter's fire alarm, and the fire trucks had come rushing in. Although M.A. had been mortified, she felt just a touch pleased that Sae cared to that extent, although he really shouldn't have, really.

Meanwhile, these boys were just being stupid and fighting for no apparent reason with absolutely zero consideration! And they didn't even stop after that explosion. Seriously. Boys.

After a moment of allowing her temper to simmer down, she sighed. Well, it sounded like everyone had headed back to bed again -- these people must be used to hooligans this time of year. "So, what were you doing out anywho, Robin?"

Caught a little by surprise by M.A.'s question Robin jumped a little before turning to her and blinking a few times. "Oh um... right, Luffy went missing sometime and woke me up. I-um we," She motioned to Raz and set Brook down." are going to go find him. Before he wakes up the whole town again." She muttered the last part under her breath. Luffy had a very forceful personality, Robin loved him to death but she did get a bit tired of watching over him all the time. "Umm if you aren't doing anything would you like to help me out? You don't have to." She added the last part hurriedly.

As he ran around the town Luffy didn't bother being quiet, jumping around and making a lot of noise, he also found a few bits of food that he ate as he scampered around. Luffy didn't have a quiet bone in his body, so there was a few shouts that followed him as he made his way to the big sound.

A.J. shook his head a few times as the sand continued to swirl around them. "I'm so gonna need a shower after this!" he grumbled, nodding to his Pinsir. "Go get that little runt with your Vicegrip!" The Stagbeetle let out a growl and charged forward, preparing to trap Ada with its sharp, dangerous horns.

That's a Normal-type move, Kasiya thought, scratching her chin. Even with the Pinsir's raised attack power the attack won't be very effective... Kasiya had an idea that A.J. didn't know what type Adamantine was. But even then, she knew she shouldn't underestimate the bug. "Wait until it gets close and then let it have your Screech!" she called. Maybe if they could catch it off guard, they could score some serious damage.

The Pinsir lowered its body and snapped its pincers angrily (the image vaguely reminding Kasiya of jagged pruning shears) before diving at Ada. The Larvitar, not wanting to get caught by those pincers, took a few steps back, feeling them brush up against her body. As hard as her skin was she could still feel the strength behind the hit and she didn't hesitate to open up her mouth and let out an ear-splitting screech, giving the Pinsir an earful. Now screeching as well, the Pinsir staggered back, clawing at the air as it tried to get its ears to stop ringing. "Now, Ada!" Kasiya shouted, seeing a great opportunity to attack. "Use Rock Slide!"

The Larvitar's little fists glowed with power as she raised them high, causing large rocks to shoot up from under the sand and fly towards the Pinsir. Kasiya smiled - she always enjoyed watching Ada use that attack.
=-=-=-=-=

The nearby explosion had awoken Jaeshan with a start, and after throwing on a t-shirt he opened the sliding side door that overlooked the beach and peeked outside. He could see anyone right away, and after slipping on his shoes and grabbing his belt full of Pokeballs he headed outside, still looking around for the sound of the explosion. He'd taken about ten steps before he stopped and released Mightyena, who yawned loudly. Feeling a bit safer now, Jaeshan continued his search.

However, it didn't take long to find it - on the street on the other side of the hotel he spotted a pair of figures seemingly engaged in battle. He could make out the vague outline of a dragon and something else, and the something else had just fired a light-absorbing Shadow Ball at the dragon. "It's just a stupid battle," he murmured bitterly, surveying the damage that had been done. He figured that this kind of thing happened all the time around here, especially during the beach party, but as he studied an overturned car he couldn't help but be annoyed for its owner - it seemed the two boys had picked a very bad spot to work out their differences.

Three girls were standing nearby; one was seemingly staring off into the distance and the other two were engaged in quiet conversation. Not normally the social type, Jaeshan found himself venturing closer. As he neared them he realized that the one girl had a Hoppip and Yanma with her and the other had a Houndour, Swablu and Phanpy. Mightyena let out a low growl as they neared the two trainers but Jaeshan silenced him with a light tap on the canine's head. "Shush you, that's not polite." Pretending to be interested in the battle Jaeshan stopped and watched, now able to clearly see the Flygon and Banette battling it out in the street. The Flygon owner was fairly tall with black hair and the other was wearing ridiculous-looking Charizard wings on his back. Jaeshan couldn't help but chuckle at the other boy's appearance, and silently wondered if he realized how silly they looked.

"So Kasiya's already headed to Slateport," Keegan mumbled, mostly to himself as he leaned on the front desk, patiently awaiting the return of his Swellow. Sheena was sitting on the couch by herself, staring out the window and still staying quite quiet. The redhead watched her for a few moments, and sighed, looking towards the treatment room door once more before he slowly made his way over to her. "Shouldn't be long now," he said, trying to sound reassuring. "Sparky and Artemis will be just fine. These Pokemon nurses really know what they're doing."

Sheena looked up at Keegan and smiled weakly. "I know," she said, nodding slowly. "I'm just tired, that's all. It's a long walk from Lavaridge and I'm looking forward to a nice hot bath and supper." She leaned back in her chair and sighed, closing her eyes. She was quiet for a moment or two before she opened one eye and grinned slyly at Keegan. "I don't suppose you'd want to join me for supper? My treat?"

Keegan sat down on the chair opposite her and smirked. "That's not very gentlemanly, with you paying and all," he chuckled, running his hands through his hair. What he wouldn't give for a shower right this instant. He saw the nurse come back to the desk out of the corner of his eye and set the two Pokeballs down on the desk. When she noticed that Keegan had seen her she gave a polite little bow and sat down to begin catching up on her paperwork. Keegan stood up to retrieve their Pokemon.

"Maybe so, but you said you're not a gentleman," Sheena called playfully, standing up. She accepted Sparky's Pokeball and held it close, glad that the happy little Minun was all right, and Artemis too. "Anyway I'm going to have that bath now. At least think about supper, kay?" She gave a little wave before heading off towards the showers.
=====
"Okay now Espeon! Tackle attack!" Sakura shouted, pointing at Sparkle. The Flaaffy's eyes grew wide once again at the sight of the lavender blur that came rushing at her, but this time as she tried to sidestep to the left Espeon faked her out and moved with her, bowling her over with a painful shoulder tackle. Sparkle was knocked flat on her back, gasping for air.

"Sparkle! Hang in there!" Miharu cried, worry creeping into her voice. This Espeon was obviously much stronger than her Flaaffy was. "Slow it down with a Thunder Wave!" Sparkle jumped back up to her feet before raising her little arms and sending a quick jolt of static electricity at the Espeon. The current coiled around the psychic type and brought it down to its belly. Grimacing, it glared at Sparkle before the gem on its forehead twinkled curiously.

Suddenly, the Flaaffy let out a squeal as the electricity that had wrapped around the Espeon suddenly bounced back to its sender, circling her body and causing her to now suffer from paralysis just like her intended target. Miharu's mouth gaped open and she searched her mind for an explanation - she knew of no technique that could do that. Upon seeing Miharu's perplexed expression, Sakura grinned and called out to the small, green-haired girl. "My Espeon has the ability to pass status ailments back to the attacker," she said knowledgably. "An Umbreon has the same ability, so keep that in mind."

Miharu nodded. "I will, thanks for that." She smiled despite the fact that her Pokemon could barely move. At the very least she was learning a lot from this battle.

"All right, Ledian. Get in close with Tackle!" the boy called out with a smirk. Letting off a cool buzz, the Ledian instantly took off towards Sting with comparable speed, keeping its head low and steady for the Tackle.

"Block it with Harden!" Ky called quickly in response, hoping to reduce the damage a bit. To Sting's surprise though, this bug could actually move faster than he had expected. Not as fast as the Scyther he fought before, but too fast to counter as effectively as Ky would've liked. Still hovering in the air, Sting crossed his two forelegs in front to guard against the attack, hoping to possibly redirect the tackle and soften the damage.

Despite the Beedrill's efforts though, the boy's Ledian met Sting's guard in a powerful mid-air collision. Pushing off of his opponent, Sting then took the recoil time as a chance to send energy through his body, Hardening his exoskeleton with a glistening shine. "Playing defensive are we?" the boy mocked. "That's nothing to compare with Ledian's abilities! Let's start by keeping your bug's poison to itself... Ledian, Safeguard!" Spreading its arms out wide, the Ledian began to glow slightly white as a strange veil seemed to spread onto its side of the playing field, protecting the Ledian from harm.

"Well, I guess we'll have to do this with brute strength then! Ain't that right Sting?!" Ky cheered with a pumped fist to support. "Focus Energy, now!" Feeling Ky's excitement building, Sting buzzed and weaved with enthusiasm. Ky knew how much he loved this, and for that, he'd obey anything. Spreading his own Hardened arms out wide, Sting thought and focused his energy into both his stingers and his wings. He didn't have to worry about injecting poison now, just to pierce his opponent's exoskeleton in the softest part. Searching, he decided his next attack would go for the belly. All he needed now was for Ky to name the attack.

"That's fine with me! Hm... Let's attack again, with Tackle! Keep low and grab hold!" the boy ordered, and once again the Ledian rushed in for the attack, aiming lower towards the Beedrill's abdomen. Unable to quickly guard from his focus stance, Sting simply flew a bit backwards to absorb the hit, though he couldn't push off at all as the Ledian kept a firm hold around the Bee Pokemon's waist. Frustrated, Sting shook violently back and forth in the air, but to no avail.

"What is he doing? Why isn't he using Ledian's Comet Punch? Is he underestimating me?" Ky thought angrily to himself, though he quickly shook off that idea. This guy said he wanted to beat the crap out of Sting. He had to have some kind of reason to use such a basic move as Tackle instead...

M.A. grinned amusedly at Robin's surprise -- this girl was a little on the jumpy side. Even by M.A.'s standards.

She brushed aside a stray tangle of hair that hung on her nose, lips twitching upwards again at the mention of the Aipom. That one was an entertaining one too; trainer and Pokemon made quite a fun combo. "No, no, of course I'd like to help out," the brunette insisted quickly; she'd be more than glad to be of assistance to someone in someway. "Slateport's kinda big, but he probably wouldn't get too far away, would he? I've got two super trackers here, too," she added, glancing down at Tora and Daemyn -- the Phanpy had a wonderful sense of smell, which Daemyn was second to. He could, however, see perfectly at night, for all that it mattered. At that very moment, the Houndour and Phanpy were already eying each other, potentially starting up a competition -- who can find the target first? Ulani, still a bit disgruntled from waking up, decided that a prancing-about Daemyn was not that comfortable to sleep on and opted for M.A.'s shoulder instead to snooze, though she kept one eye open.

M.A. glanced at the blonde stranger nearby that had stopped approaching them to watch Kilik and his Charizard friend, but didn't think much of it at the moment -- after all, if she had been walking around at night and had seen such a loud battle going on, she'd stop and stare too. Though that Mightyena seemed a bit threatening; they must be a seasoned pair.
