Feng nodded, it would be better to get someone who could speak the language she thought, before going off to ask Cindy, "I'll be right back."

As she was passing the group of children, Saki who had been usered out by Lin padded in the other direction. She knew that this was her big chance to do some good and as a little eager teen she was looking forward to the chance. Taking a deep breath and stuck her tongue out in conceration before dashing off in a run so she could skid or slid into the group of children. Which probably resulted in her ramming into something or someone, but darn it if she didn't look cute doing it with her paws up in the air and her tail thumping on the ground.

Cindy carefully ran a light finger across the healing wound, it was probably infected. She mused on this as she went into her bag to look for what she needed, cream for the arm, and bandages so the cream wouldn't get wiped off accidently. Medicine....

"Cindy, do you know where Adonai is? We need him to translate," Feng asked her sister.

"Hmm.. he should be upstairs," Cindy murmured as she took out a bottle of cream and a bottle of clear liquid, "Amdir, could you ask her... if you can, if it hurts at all, and if she hurts anywhere else?"

The children surrounding Haradhel squealed, and the little boy that the kitten ran into jumped back and burst into tears, taken completely by surprise. A few of the children rushed to calm him, while others knelt down and started to play with Saki, trying to reach around each other and pet her or stroke her wings (or tug on them, the more curious of the bunch).

Amdir spoke softly to the girl, stroking her hair softly to comfort her, and she replied even more quietly than he had spoken to her. After a few minutes he turned to speak to Cindy.

"Her name is Miriel - Jewel, in your language," he told her. "Her arm hurts pretty badly, she has trouble closing her fist tightly, like her muscles are too weak ... but other than that, she has a slight headache and her feet hurt, though that's likely from walking all the time on the rock without any foot protection."

Feng hurried upstairs, she kind of new where Cindy was working, so she was sure the person she was looking for would be there. She popped her head into the work room.

"Adonai?"

Saki blinked as she got to her feet, she didn't mean the make the cry and she padded up to him and pawed him gently. She looked up at him with the biggest sad eyes she could muster.

"Up please?" she purred, "Up? Mew..."

"Hmmm...."
At least the arm didn't hurt, but it still worried Cindy at that, they probably did catch it in time, but she also didn't know how deep the cut was, but it couldn't have been too deep seeing as the girl was still here.

"It is probably infected," Cindy murmured as she looked around and realized there was no water or cloth, "And.. I need to get a bowl of water and cloth to clean the site."

As if on cue, Elrohir reappeared from the kitchen with a basin full of warm water and a cloth over his arm. He set it on the ground next to Cindy, holding out the cloth.

"Will this do?" he asked, half-grinning, though he was entirely serious.

Adonai was writing on a sheet of parchment up in the study he and Cindy had been using during Cindy's time there, but he dropped his quill and jumped to his feet when he heard Feng calling his name.

"You need help?" he assumed, reaching for his own bag and throwing it over his shoulder. He headed towards the door and slipped past Feng. "Fill me in," he requested. "Everything."

When Saki started talking, all of the children around her screamed and fell back - but after the initial shock, the little boy who had been crying sniffled and crawled forward tentatively, his chin just about touching the floor as he looked at the kitten at eye level.

He blinked a few times, sniffled again, and said, "Kitty?"

Miriel looked up at Amdir worriedly and asked a question, and he smiled and replied softly before looking at Cindy.

"Be careful," he murmured, though he was certain she would be. "She says the last person who looked at it made it hurt even worse, we don't want to terrify her again."
PostPosted: Thu Feb 21, 2008 9:25 pm

"Well the children are here, and Cindy is looking after the injuried children," Feng explained as she followed Adonai, "But we need a translator for the children that aren't hurt, since Haradhel doesn't know Common Elvish and well I don't know Elvish period."

Let's be frank, Feng never needed to learn more than two languages back home, so it had never bothered her.

It hurt her ears and she made note that talking made the children scared, she would have to be careful. Her poor ears, she looked at the boy and made eye contact with him, "Saki," she replied rubbing against his cheek.

The kind of rubbing that meant in normal cat language to pick me up and pamper me.

"Ah!" Cindy smiled up at Elrohir taking the cloth and soaking it, "Thank you, and don't worry. Just tell her I'm cleaning the wound first with warm water."

No point making it worse than it already was she thought as she took care in cleaning up the arm. All that dirt could not have been good for it, and cleaning it up would help greatly.

"After I clean it up, I'm going to put cream to help with the infection on the surface," Cindy explained, "I'll also bandage it up to keep it from wiping off on anything, but the area will need to be aired out for a few hours everyday."

Adonai nodded and headed down the stairs. "I guess that's something we should keep in mind for next time," he murmured. "Perhaps I should teach Haradhel Common Elvish. I'm sure Elrohir must know it, he was raised in the Southland palace."

The little boy blinked and shrank back timidly, then lay flat on his stomach and reached out with one hand to rub the top of Saki's head with the tip of one finger. He moved it forward and backward slowly, rubbing only a small spot on her head, but when she didn't try to attack him (as he had thought all animals did) he nudged forward a bit further and scooped her up, cuddling her against his chest.

"Nice kitty," he pronounced solemnly, wiping the tears from his cheeks with the back of one hand.

Encouraged by his bravery, the other children pressed closer and peered over his shoulder to look at the talking kitty.

Amdir spoke softly to the girl as Cindy bathed her arm, but the girl just winced and pressed her face against Amdir's chest. She whimpered softly, and Amdir put one hand on her head comfortingly and looked up at Cindy.

"She says it stings," he told her quietly. "I know there's nothing we can do about that right now, but it seems pretty bad."

He licked his lips and looked down at the girl again. "Maybe I should ask her where it came from," he suggested. "Would that affect the required treatment?"

Feng nodded at that, it would be best to keep that in mind for the future. She didn't know how else to help but comfort the children and made sure they got the attention they needed.

"Probably, she's been trying to get their names."

Saki nuzzled with a loud purr against the boy, this was looking promising and he was so gentle. Though she hadn't realized it was probably out of fear, she didn't know exactly how he viewed animals.

"Nice boy...." she purred.

"Probably not overly," Cindy murmured thoughtfully so the wound hadn't fully healed up then, "But it would let me know how bad it probably is."

Cindy was already sure by looking and from what the girl had already told Admir that this was going to be one of those heavily mediciated processes. She cleaned and wringed out the cloth, she could see the skin now and see how red the wound was. Mentally she changed the type of medicine the girl would need to take.

Adonai nodded and headed into the dining room, where all of the children were. He licked his lips apprehensively as he looked around ... there were so many of them ...

Well, some of them seemed to be having fun with Saki, and most of the rest were with Amdir, Aliya and Cindy, so he headed over to Haradhel to offer what help he could.

The boy giggled softly, almost as if he were trying not to, but he lowered his face fractionally and snuggled back. The other children around them crowded them then, all of them trying to pet Saki, or stroke her wings, or nuzzle her if they could get close enough - but the boy hunched over as if he were trying to keep Saki all for himself.

Amdir spoke softly with the girl once more, then turned back to Cindy, his face grim.

"Punishment," he told her with a frown. "For dropping something. She was whipped."

It took a lot to anger Amdir, but he could feel rage boiling up inside him. He was furious with the people who had done this to the child - she was only a child! She should have been home, playing on a swing or with other kids or running around and having fun! Not being a slave, property to be whipped or beaten for a simple childish accident!

It looked like Saki was having fun Feng thought to herself though it was a wonder why the kitten didn't feel squished with all those children. She went back to join Haradhel and see if any of the other children not playing with Saki needed anything.

Saki smiled widely, "Yay... snuggles.... pass me around for more snuggles?"

She didn't mind being nuzzled and petted as she flapped her wings a bit. The little kitty wiggled a bit to look around at the other children. There were so many children to play with!

Cindy frowned, she wondered if the girl was trying to block the whip or they had whipped her arm. She tried not to think about it, getting upset over it wasn't going to help anyone or the girl for that matter. She didn't know much about how weapons did damage, but she did know it probably took off the whole top layer of skin, it would scar probably.

"There," she murmured setting the cloth aside and taking some of the cream once more, opening up the container she lightly applied it the area.

"I know this will probably sting more, but it's to get rid of the infection on the wound, she'll probably scar, but it won't be as bad as it could have been without treatment."

Adonai was busy already talking with the child Haradhel had been attempting to communicate with earlier - the little girl that Feng had brought in. She didn't look as scared as she had a few minutes earlier, which was a relief, but she didn't quite look comfortable yet either.

The little boy holding Saki looked very reluctant to let her go. He wanted something to hug - he needed something to hug. He brought his knees up and shook his head, hugging Saki again, once more close to tears.

Amdir nodded at Cindy and adjusted his grip on the girl he was holding, making her more comfortable, reassuring her that she would be all right.

"Go ahead," he nodded to Cindy. "She understands."

"Is there anything I can do to help?" Feng asked Haradhel curiously.

Since she was at a lost of what to do at this point. She had no idea how to communicate with any of the children around here.

"Awww...." Saki put a paw on the boy's face, "Don't cry, can we look at the toys?"

Since she wasn't really sure how to keep him from crying and she needed to be with all of the children. Though this one was more upset than a lot of the others.

Cindy nodded as she continued to put cream on the wound and lightly rubbing it a bit, she then bound the arm up in a bandage. Once that was done, she wiped her own cream ladle fingers on dress going for a different bottle in her bag than what she had intended.

"Uhm.. I'm not sure.. this probably doesn't taste so good," Cindy looked aplogetic, "But I need her to take two drops. She has a headache, it might be the start of a fever, and I don't know how long her arm as been like that."

The little boy sniffled a bit and looked at Saki curiously. "Toys?" he repeated in confusion.

Another little boy turned excitedly to the other children and told them what the kitten had said in their own language, and they all pressed close once again, looking for the location of the toys.

Amdir nodded and spoke to the girl, who lifted her head and looked at Cindy. Her eyes were very big and very blue - and very wet. Apparently she had been crying into Amdir's chest - a fact which was evidenced by the wet spot on his tunic.

She spoke softly, and Amdir translated for her: "She'll take anything you give her, she hasn't been treated this well in years."

Haradhel smiled up at Feng. "If you could perhaps help Aliya with the children over there ... Cindy's taking care of one girl, but there are a few more who really need attention. Saki's doing fine with these ones here, I think it's best if we don't interrupt."

She paused. "Unless you'd like to help me figure out how many sets of clothes I need to get, and in what sizes ... or help with baths ... I think we should get the healthier kids into a bath right away."

Feng would have loved to do baths, she loved water that was just part of her nature. Though that would have been a really bad idea to go all fishy at that moment. She kind of new this, "Uhm.... I could help with clothes or something."

Saki nodded happily as she pointed a paw over towards where she knew the toys were being kept, "Over there! Toys are over there for everyone to play with. Mew..... all kinds of toys."

She knew this because she the knew the play room best out of all the places in the Ranch house.

"Ah.... I see," Cindy murmured as she took the bottle, it had been made in such a way that it would give the drops, "She just needs to open her mouth, two quick drops and that's it. Then she's done and all she probably needs after that is a good wash, food and rest. Rest especially."
