Interchangeability combined with excellent reliability are indeed awesome, but I don't think they'd want to deploy it, even if it fully panned out. From what I heard, the folks 'up there' would really like a big leap. Like this for example. Take a good look at that ammunition; it has Cyberpunk written all over it! whee
PostPosted: Mon Feb 02, 2009 1:02 pm

I disagree with the cyberpunk thing. However, I love the gun. It's a shame that the sabots were as likely to put an eye out as the gun is to kill someone, though. A real shame. I'm wondering if they could modify the 5.52 ammo to operate in the fashion the Steyr ACR's standard munitions do. That would definitely redeem the weapon, and immediately eliminate the need for the sabots, which were the only problem with the weapon. Ta da! ******** philosophy, I'm thinking I should get into munitions.

Speaking of tourneys, would that mean you're a member of gamebattles.com? Because I happen to be the member of a team that's on the Left4Dead ladder.

Scouter Kai
You guys do realize that the Canadian NATO units are the most badass military units aside from the Australian ones, right? There's an ongoing debate over which is more badass.

NATO is the sissiest military force on earth. Badass for them is being mildly competent.

M16s are one of the most unreliable guns in history. Iraqi insurgent forces refuse to take them off of killed US soldiers because their AKs are ten times better. The M16s record in Vietnam was so bad they would have been better off just keeping the damn M1 (which, in my opinion, is still one of the best guns out there. Almost 100 years and still on top.). M16 only got picked because the company making them was great buddies with the military. They didn't give a damn how bad it was.

As far as the ideal weapon, just put one of these on the battlefield. Guaranteed win.

and BB, you have a ladder team for L4D? That makes me wish I had it even more crying

People competent enough to survive a zombie apocalypse are hard to come by. You're definitely one of them.

Speaking of L4D, I watched these two little preteens playing it in the store, and one of them got dragged down the street being strangled to death by the smoker while the other one was running in circles amidst a crowd of very angry zombies. At least I think that's how it went. All I remember is watching them die was hilarious.

Automated killing machines (terminators) for teh win! But I don't think the M16 series is that bad. Sure, we all know it got a bad start, but after 4 reincarnations, the 4th one is quite competent in it's reliability section. From what I understand, clean it after a mission, and you're fine. As for the performance of the AK...well, I don't think it's 10 times better unless you're close. At least, that's what the grunts say.

To be honest, I've heard of reports from that battle at Fallujah where lots of the dead insurgents were found with headshots. It was on the news once too; they launched a full investigation because they thought our soldiers were executing them. Turned out everyone was mounting scopes and whatnot on the rifles; since those folks only show their heads....well, you know the rest. It's really accurate and far reaching!

I don't think there's an ideal weapon, or at least, not all the time. It depends on the situation; even terminator units can get deactivated by a car battery, some wires, and a knife.

Then again, if it's the apocalypse and zombies are raining from the sky...I'll take the AK any day! biggrin

Speaking of which, why don't we get those in L4D?!

Because Automatics SUCK against Zombies. You need headshots to kill them. Go read World War Z, it's by the guy who wrote the Zombie survival guide. Masterful, realistic work.

I've read World war Z and Zombie Suvival guide 4 times each

Automatics are bad for the fact that it wastes ammo. Why expend a dozen rounds trying to get a headshot when one well placed rifle/pistol round to the head kills the zombie(and I am talking actually zombies, not the fudged up left4dead/residentevil/28dayslater zombies. Don't get me wrong they make their context exciting, but it is like comparing glue to tape, they do essentially the same thing but they are incredibly different)

grenades are also worthless for the fact that they kill with shrap and the only way it could kill a zombie is with a lucky piece to the brain.

BUT! In left4dead you can kill the zombies with a full clip to the torso as well one round to the head. So I guess the reason for the lack of AKs is that you already get an Uzie, and Uzies are easier to find in a city than an AK

Oh and you must throw great parties Kai, I mean looking at your last post

Oh yeah, I really like those two books: I and my friends firmly believe that the Zombie Survival Guide should belong in the 'self help' section and not the humor. Still, I don't like that M16A3 that much. Hence the AK question. When fighting the 'fast' variety that still have their human bodies intact, a pair of shots into the torso will kill. Its just that...well, no one lets go of the trigger to count!

I wonder if he has Ocarina of Time, or Okami....he can't have all of them....can he? Like a super emulator or something?

Now, a quote from Otacon of the Metal Gear series: "Snake? Snake?! SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKEE!!!!!!

In L4D you can kill a zombie with two shots to the chest if you know what you're doing. And although i don't agree with valve's concept, the massive hordes serve their purpose well enough if you know how to use a boomer. You get M16s in L4D and they're almost as accurate as the hunting rifle. I'd use it every time if it weren't for the fact that the automatic shotgun rapes a tank with just twenty solid shots.

As for those two kids, i think i played them last week in a public match. I dish out that sort of humiliation with my team on a daily basis.

I'm not sure whether it would be more fun to frantically fight for my life or be the hell-bent mutant zombie trying to extinguish it. Tough call... but I'd go with the zombie. Tongue lynching > automatic shotguns

OH! I literally JUST remembered how they died! They were stuck in a warehouse running around like idiots, and one of them stepped on the witch and she beat the ever loving hell out of them. THAT was hilarious.

Also, note the 'after each mission' part of the M16. You could use an AK half-filled with mud and the thing would still work. Especially with sand, they're quite reliable. I also love the fact that they'll take practically any kind of ammunition you find.

On the subject of zombies, I have read the guide, and shortly thereafter spent an entire car ride arguing with my brother arguing over the effectiveness of a gatling gun.

As far as the uzis, AKs, and L4D, depends what city. If you're in West Harlem, yeah, plenty of uzis. If you're in Houston, you're going to find PLENTY of AKs. Those Texans exercise their right to bear arms to the full extent of the law.

This has to be at least the third time I've had the zombie discussion on Gaia, could we change the subject? sweatdrop ooo, Okami! <3 I still need to finish that...

But it's different because we're discussing Left4Dead, and that game is awesome. Oh Witch, how I love thee. You slay silly children so I don't have to.

And I'm in agreement with you, Teddo. Getting to drag children off cliffs (for that instant kill), or projectile vomit and summon a horde of manic zombies, or pounce that lone idiot and rape him for all he's worth (because stupid forgot the word 'teamwork'), or simply throw cars at unsuspecting humans (ยก^_^!) is simply 100% fun. No gimmicks, no catches, just fun.

..and some newer ones. Make up a video game, even.

-Final Fantasy CDXLVIII

-Medal of Honor: War Secretaries (They've already made games for every single battle in WW2. They even made up a bunch. Running out of 'ideas.' )

-Legend of Zelda: the Lampshade of No Significant Importance (An actual flash game. They're running out of mythical artifacts for Link to use.)

-Starcraft 2 [Pre-Order Now!] (Note: Blizzard hinting release may be pushed back 3 more months.)

-The Sims: Drathonian Occupation (they generally use titles that make people want to buy them less and less.)

-Madden NFL Football 4048 (still using his clone.)

-MLB Front Office Manager (I just copy/pasted this from a list of most popular games.)

-Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi Namek Ki Saiyan Zarbon Chronicles Tournament (the latest expansion pack)

-GTA: Saratar Spaceports (in development - you can steal a Jupiter Class Battleship! And kill hookers!)

-Tom Clancy's: The Terra Directive (Some speculate that Tom Clancy may have ghostwriters)

-Naruto: Clash of Shinobi Master Hokage Warriors 9 (unfortunately, the Narutard narrowly escaped extinction)

Honest to goodness, the others in my group and I had been hearing the crying so we were trying to locate the witch, all out flashlights were off, I am at the front of the group and heading down the stairs of the building we were in very slowly, at the bottom of the stairs there was a door, I turned to go through the door, I take one step actually it was more like half a step, then from my friends' POV(one of them still has the video) they see me get pushed back onto the ground and the witch starting to tear at me.
