A charge attack is when you hold down the attack button until you start glowing and stuff. You don't learn it until you get to the end of Gustav's dungeon, but you can always go back and try a room again later by touching its map page. 3nodding

Oh, you die a ton for pretty much the first three quarters of the game. You don't get a penalty, though. You just start the room over again. You increase your heart/leaf count later on anyway by code scanning the red tablets.
I died something like, twenty times the first time I went up against this one boss... sweatdrop

If the monsters are too difficult, you can always code scan them and remove the copper code that makes them pink/gives them high defense. 3nodding
