if you dedicate life to just school,
work, your job, etc, yu might as well
be a robot. people weren't made to
work to be happy. n________n
I remember a couple of years back, when my parents asked me what I wanted to do with my life, I said I wanted to either continue a career in music, or art. Liberal arts make me happy.
My parents gave the wary look, suggesting that such wouldn't exactly pay well unless you're a prodigy.
And, well, then and now, frankly, even if my parents don't want me to waste my money like they were when mis padres were DINKS -spending their income on cars, jewelery and the like- I'd much rather be happy than financially secure. My eventual 401k MIGHT have some significance to my peace of mind, but,
jesus. If I'm bound to stress myself to death, literally, just to please my parents, what the flying hell am I going to do with my life? God, I've been so skewed that I truly think I have nothing to accomplish in life. Even the things I LIKE to do I've lost interest in, thinking that if I'm not even above mediocre, there's no point in pursuing such goals.
Tooora, take me away. Some happy place where I don't give a ******** what in the hell occurs. <3 Blue collar life will kill me, but if I don't express myself without inflicting self-pain, i'mgonnaripattheseams.
[EDIT:] Pixie, you're such a sweetheart, too. Why can't I have you lovelies around 24/7? xD Honestly, very few people I know in my area have the compassion and intelligence such as yours, and everyone else around, for that matter. They're either successfully accomplishing the perfection I cannot, or just the ******** who just want a good screw.

Tora! Tora! [Teh Dixie.] Y'all need to come and beat your logic into me.
I'm such a perfectionist now, a lazy one at that, but still. I used to have such high standards for myself, take pride in what I accomplished, but now it's as if my ethics, practically myself as a whole has slumped from overexhertion, yet I still hold those standards, and that's two totally opposite ends of the spectrum.
So whenever I'm scolded for being lazy, my parents disapprove of something, or hell, even if I get a 90 on a test, I hack up myself as a punishment for all I've done wrong, because if I'm not making everyone else happy, there's no way in hell I can be.
My mother nearly slapped me in the car when she saw that I had carved "dumb b***h" into my thigh. .____. Then she stopped, asked why, and I kept on with my current routine of pleading the fifth. I say nothing, she gives me this face, and life goes on. Huh-freaking-zah.

pardon the spill. Just had to rant a bit. This time I will be up all night. I have to proofread and perfect seven papers for English, and then the rest of the usual homework.
At least I get to dissect tomorrow. that'sfun.

Tora is right. You've got to work because you enjoy it. Because you love it. If you're overloading yourself and it ceases to be something you want, you're going to put less into it and get less out of it. You got to make Dixie happy. *hughug* You're obviously a very bright person. And special. I don't want to see you burnt out before you get the chance to do everything you want to do. Live and learn for you, and to hell with everyone else. :]

They start off in a science fiction novel, move down into an action movie, and burn out into the home life.
