Caelorum Kai_Arrein WHAT THE ******** Shift is not a teleportation technique, there is a travel time and there is a prerequisite maneuver. These are not always written out in RP but I have explanations readily available and on-hand. Beyond this, CLASH APPROVED A PROFILE WITH THAT TECHNIQUE LISTED NO QUESTIONS ASKED. I made a post while I could while I was on vacation. i come back to find out about some bullshit disqualification? Nobody said anything about any techniques I had being borderline on the rules, I didn't even know teleportation techniques (of which my character doesn't actually have any) were banned here. @edit: With the thread locked I don't even get the opportunity to elaborate and explain the discrepencies unless it's unlocked. The disqualification is bullshit.
Edit: To help you understand, I would've dq'ed you on the spot, too. A few words in your post give it away, whether you were going for an artistic explanation or physically describing the maneuver itself:
"Lupus's body simply ceased to be at that point, the air popping lightly from the implosion of his sudden nonpresence. He reappeared with a small explosion of air, using the disturbance in the atmosphere around his new location to accelerate..."
Even in my posts where I state my character "disappears," I make sure to note that it's because he's moving a tad bit too fast for the human eye to follow. I also leave a lagging dust trail on the ground as evidence that he did always remain in the physical plain and never de-materialized or changed his state of matter at any point.Your character is moving very fast in that aspect, Kai is actually moving very slowly. He did not move in the conventional coordinate plane that most people think of movement in (x,y,z as left/right,up/down,forward/back), he changed his position in the physical by altering his state in the quantum. Moving by quantum distances a single step can vary from a few phemtometers to a few kilometers in any direction. The problem with doing this, however, is that the body itself is stuck with the last set of instructions provided, and the mind cannot actually give new instructions for a length of time depending on the distance. I don't have the function I worked out immediately available on this computer, but I can tell you that if Kai were to 'shift' a full kilometer, he would be vulnerable for up to three seconds. Moving about ten meters to appear in the air above Jikabuita he would be vulnerable for roughly one metric second, give or take a few millionths. The set of instructions given to the body in this case was a rotating slash with all four weapons presently in use, which would, in most cases, give Kai the full time needed. I'm not trying to use this as an excuse but that post wasn't exactly my best because I could only scrape out about five minutes of internet. I'll admit I didn't read the rules as thuroughly as I should have, but mainly because I figured if my character was OK'd there wasn't going to be any problems. How was I to know that a character who can move themselves in the quantum dimensions is going to be counted as a teleporter? Quote: Phasing (becoming ghostly or ethereal, changing state of matter to gas) is also banned. Leaving the material plane, shadowporting, fireporting, turning into air, and related methods of movement--even for a nanosecond--are considered illegal and are offenses up for disqualification. He never left the material plane (as it extends into the quantum dimensions but most beings are unaware of this) nor changed the composition of his body nor used another substance as a medium for near instantaneous transition. The time elapsed for the distance was also significantly less than a nanosecond. Just a few phemtoseconds. The reason why it's called a 'Flame' Shift is because Kai will sometimes use a fireball as a distraction or marker. I'm going to also apologise for the rather terse nature of my intial post.
