Phoenix looked at Angel, hoping he was ok. Then she took a look at the "crazy vamp" woman who was howling at something in the tree. Uh... no. She turned and headed inside, shutting the front door behind her. Angel could go int he way he came. This was beyond freaky.

Atticus could see Buffy now...a recognizable face other than Riley's and the demons...he felt a small tinge of joy deep inside at seeing someone good who seemed to be...freeing him? What was going on? Where was Jenna? And Shannon? Where was HE at that moment? Why was he in so much pain?! What were they doing to him?!

Riley caught the gleam in his wife's eyes as she checked out the green demon. "Um, honey, that one is off limits. And WHAT the HELL are you doing to the subject? This was not on the agenda! You didn't bother to contact me at all? This is NOT how we do things. I'm really surprised at you." He walked up to her, trying to distract her from Buffy. "What was the point, baby? You've made me look very bad in front of the docs. I should have known what was going on."

Buffy and Lorne finished releasing him and she began to wonder how they were gonna get him out, when that woman showed up. The wife. She sneered at her as she tried to life Atticus gently, trying like hell not to pull at the horrible wounds.

Sam folded her arms, eyes still on Buffy and the subject as Riley came up to her. She finally broke away her gaze from Buffy to her husband.
"I was being ambitious, Sweetheart, I wanted to surprise you with the progress we've made. We just did't have time to make it before you got back..." she said in a sweet, normal tone as if nothing was wrong with the picture.

"To get him out, we're going to have to hurt him a little bit more..." Lorne mentioned, knowing that the only way to get Atticus out was to carry him, and that involved lifting him which involved hurting his wounds...
"You get his upper body, I'll get his legs..." he said as he went over and gripped the man's legs tightly, ready to lift. "Let's get out of this freak show..."

Riley kissed her cheek. "I missed you. How was the trip?" He put an arm around her, slowly steering her toward the exit. "I'll just get this all cleaned up for us, and then be back as soon as I drop off our unexpected guests, and then you and I can get some sleep, hmm?"

Sam stopped dead in her footsteps, knowing what Riley was trying to do. He was her husband, she knew his little tricks, his little quirks...and he was trying to get her to forget about what had just happened.
"You're letting them take our subject? Our BEST subject?! What are you thinking?!"

Buffy involuntarily snorted. Freak show. Her sense of humor was seriously off. She did as Lorne suggested, wincing at how Atticus must be hurting, and praying that he stayed passed out. They slowly made their way to the door through which they'd come. "Shhhh," she said, to Lorne and Atticus, just in case. She didn't wanna attract Sam's attention.

Lorne helped Buffy carry Atticus down the way they had come. He watched how Atticus' head rocked back and forth with his eyes shut and as he moaned and mumbled a few incohesive things.
"We're almost out of here, Big Guy..."

"Honey, it's just for now. I have an inkling that someone screwed up. It knows it's past. It's memory is intact. In fact.. I think it's more human than it is demon." He squeezed her hand. "Babe, we screwed up. Or someone else did."

"That may be true...but why HER?! Why Buffy of all people?! You're letting HER take our subject right out from under us?!" Sam couldn't keep angry at him and his reasoning. Someone MUST'VE screwed up. If the test subject WAS mostly human, then they had made a big mistake...
"But alright. We'll discuss HER over dinner tonight. I don't like how you so freely let her come and take our prized possession."

The beast gestured his hands once again in front of the human communicators.
“This is a mere precaution if you will. Most humans chosen to be a communicative link between Gauru and other humans tend to panic, get overexcited or die, and we tend to chose only the strong. Ha, strong! Your kind are quick to judge when they see something like me around. They attack now and be done with it instead of wondering why something as powerful as a Gauru will not simply attack.”
The human communicator was free from the immobilization. “I am impressed at how well you...serve your purpose.” He could see the symbol still glistening on her right hand. She was definitely stronger than the last host, probably the best one he has encountered.
“So then, your kind will help us?"

Oz decided to move Kennedy near the fireplace. He lifted her and gently placed her near it. He tried figuring out how to turn it on. The last flame died out who knows when.
“I need help here! Now!”
He threw in a couple of chopped up log pieces and a few crinkled newspaper sheets. He lit the tip of the newspaper with a lighter and hoped he did it right.
Oz adjusted Kennedy near the fireplace, still covered in blankets. He rubbed her arms as best he could for more warmth.
“Come on, Kennedy! Don’t do this!”
Kennedy’s head bobbed back a bit. It almost looked like she was trying to see him with her eyes closed.
“Fight this, Kennedy! Fight it!”
Her lips parted as he heard whispers lingering toward him. The whispers made him sit quietly as he kept rubbing her arms, praying that she would be all right.

Hyperion_Hell )((FOR THE TIME BEING? IF IT'S NOT ALLRIGHT JUST DELETE IT.))( Xander'd spent the last couple days following everyone around that he deemed suspicious. He'd watched what had happened. Had seen everything going on. And was reserving his thoughts and suspicions. After that sandwich debacle, he'd seen some Inititiative types carry off that new dude and little Andrew. But he hadn't been about to step in. And now he sat in the cherry blossom tree, watching Buffy with Angel and Riley. Xander had always secretly wanted Riley and Buffy together. He was really the only one good enough for her. And this thing with Angel was gonna blow up in her face. He knew it. He didn't hope for it, but he knew it.
He had fallen asleep in the tree, waking up when Kennedy screamed, and now he'd just sat on the branches. Drusilla came. She was still a loon. Great. Willow came. She was now his brown-eyed girl. Xander felt weirdly detached. He wondered how long he'd sit here. He watched a bunch of comings and goings. And still, just sat.
