The old double-whammie... old. Ryugi had gathered energy in both hands when he charged forwards before, and had only used it from one of them. Even with the fact that they had just gone through a rocket-boosted headbutt, that fact didn't change.
His view was obstructed, his head felt like it he'd just hit it with a rock, and he had the human torch playing grab-a** with him... but he still knew well enough that when an exact movement was impossible, an approximate one would have to do; and his free arm slammed a quick right against Ryugi's ribs under the arm. A tap, at best, with the way they were going, but it wasn't about hitting him, it was about getting a cocked elbow out under the arm that kept the kid from throwing a straight punch with it.
Fireballs? Superfists? Doomsday rocket punches? He was really going all-out tonight, and it showed. Even if the kid lacked form he was full of explosions, so something had to be done about it.
Ryugi would feel two similar tugs. The first was a fistful of his left side being grabbed forcefully. The second was a hand on his belt. Even though their BUMPER CARS had cut down on the momentum, the Angaran was still somewhat airborne. With these two handholds he'd be dragged out of the air and slammed on his back on the cave floor a few feet short of his goal.
The good news? He'd gotten off pretty easy in that exchange and was that much closer to his prize.
The bad news? There was a man straddling him with a bleeding hole in his side, a shirt that was on fire, and a seriously bad attitude.
It was time for some ground-and-pound.

What?!
And Ryugi found himself on the ground. He knew Joshua was a tough nut to crack, and he'd managed to drill a chunk out of his side. It was a start, but someone who just regrew their skin after having it burned completely off wasn't going to be much effected by one bloody hole in their side, no pun intended. Directed energy was a wondrous thing, as Joshua had shown Ryugi in the COCKTOWER that day. It allowed for maximum damage with less overall use of energy, and thats what counted in a close quarters fight. But it could only get someone so far. And right now Ryugi's options were limited.
He decided against SURPRISE BUTTSECKS and instead would shoot his legs up and towards Joshua's back in an attempt to grip his face and neck and slam the man back down into the dirt of the cave. If that failed, he still had his arms to work with as they began to glow with white energy instead of the flaming orange and red.

Ryugi kicked up, but it didn't get him far enough. With Joshua straddling him the way he was there wasn't much of a range of motion to work with and his legs couldn't get very far. It might have worked... if it weren't for the fact that Joshua had already hunched over after dragging the Angaran to the ground.
Charging energy in his fists... the kid was going to try the same thing again? Those things were like signal flares when they lit up like that and the Reaper already knew that he wasn't going to take anymore of this kid's imitations.
So, to get out a little tension, he slammed an open hand against the Angaran's left shoulder to pin him down to the ground and started going to town on the bridge of the kid's nose with his left.
If he'd been intending to kill the kid there were twenty different ways he could go about that from this position, but then this kid wouldn't learn anything. So the Reaper would bloody him up until he cried uncle... or... Ragnarok... whatever.

themightyjello So, to get out a little tension, he slammed an open hand against the Angaran's left shoulder to pin him down to the ground and started going to town on the bridge of the kid's nose with his left. The left shoulder went down, but Ryugi's left hand shot up to sock the Reaper in the side of the face as he attempted to hit him in the nose. Even if that didn't go through, his right arm would shoot back and pull the Reaper's body away from his by the hair. If he didn't get knocked off, Joshua'd likely be missing part of his scalp, along with a bunch of hair. If nothing else, Ryugi would show he wasn't going to just sit there and take punches to the face if he could do something about it. At the same time, his legs would attempt to move his body around to get him closer to Ragnarok.

Hair pulling? That was for little girls. The Angaran would get a fist full of it for his efforts, maybe a little less, maybe a little more. His left arm wouldn't get far enough for a punch; as soon as the motion started Joshua would move his hand a few inches from the shoulder to the bicep to pin down the upper arm instead. Fat lot of good flailing his wrist would do the kid.
His knees slid up a little further at the sides of Ryugi's chest and he took an even more dominating position. Hair pulling would get his head up an inch or two, but if he kept pulling he'd find that he was just ripping out hair. In the meantime fist after fist would be slamming the swordsman's head against the stone beneath them as the Reaper dropped punches one after the other.
Leaning back like that, a bloody nose would run down the back of his throat and start making it hard to breathe.

Well ******** this s**t.
Ryugi would simply flip his right arm back and grab Joshua's neck in a reverse grip, and pull him back and away from his face. After all, at the time this would be taking place, the Reaper couldn't have gotten more then one or two hits to Ryugi's head. Ryugi was going to keep his head moving to avoid direct contact to his nose or face as well, lessening the damage to any one area. At the same time, Ryugi would grip the arm holding his left bicep and jerk Joshua's arm away to allow movement.
The energy around Ryugi's arms suddenly made itself more pronounced as the energy would form up around the left arm and hand of Ryugi as a spike shooting from his palm directly into, and possibly through the gripping arm of the Reaper when the appendage made contact. The spike would continue to extend, growing even sharper as it extended, possibly even stabbing into the body of the Reaper and pinning his arm to his body via the extension. The energy would continue to flow around the right arm in the case that it was needed.

Ryugi Kazamaru Ryugi would simply flip his right arm back and grab Joshua's neck in a reverse grip, and pull him back and away from his face. It wasn't already? Grabbing by the neck would loosen his grip considerably, considering that he couldn't get his hand tightly clenched like he would want to. A quick twist of the shoulders and a backwards thrust of the elbow against the inside of Ryugi's forearm on the return from one of those punches would be enough for his fingers to slide right off. Coming back from that his entire body weight would drop behind his arm as the flat of his elbow slammed down horizontally across where Ryugi's head was. No amount of averting his eyes and straining his neck would skirt him away from that one. Bloody Boy At the same time, Ryugi would grip the arm holding his left bicep and jerk Joshua's arm away to allow movement. Try as he might, the prying power of two fingers and a thumb is not enough to drag away an entire arm. With his upper arm unable to move, all the strength that he had to pull with was in the straightening of his forearm, and all the gripping power he had was in how hard he could pinch. Progress would have been minimal, if he hadn't tried to get creative. Bomberman The energy around Ryugi's arms suddenly made itself more pronounced as the energy would form up around the left arm and hand of Ryugi The signal flares got brighter, and there was some dude in an orange vest waving them around and shouting things. With the way that he had been gathering energy it was clear that he was going to try to use it to get himself out of this situation. That was why from the start close attention had been paid to that gathered energy. The moment it began to move it was recognized, and Joshua broke the grip that the boy had placed upon his arm with a sudden clockwise twist that slipped it easily past the boy's thumb. That was enough for now... He simply applied more force to his forearm slam after it went through and shoved himself up into a standing position from there; taking a wide step off of the Angaran and heading back the way that they had come from for a few paces.

Ryugi took a hard elbow to the side of his head before Joshua backed off. That rattled his cage, but he was still going strong, albeit with more of a headache than before. All things considered Ryugi had come out of that exchange reasonably well.
Ragnarok if you can offer any assistance right now it would be extremely helpful!
As if commanded by Ryugi, the sword encased inside the draconic bones and rock would suddenly pulse with energy of its own accord, the heavy bones surrounding it shattering in all directions from the force, and flying towards Joshua. Of course, several fragments flew towards Ryugi too, but as he was laying down, 95% of them flew over his head as he rolled towards the sword and into a standing position near the blade.
Ragnarok could only help Ryugi directly if he was holding the weapon in his grip, but the sword had power of its own now that it was awakened, and could act of its own accord...or when Ryugi asked for assistance. So while Ryugi was not in contact with the sword and couldn't receive direct benefits from its powers, the two could still fight as a team, even if it was more limited in power and capacity. And all Ryugi had to do was ask to find out...

With all these bones flying around everywhere, people might assume that the setting was much more morbid than it really was. That the two of them seemed to be taking it completely in stride was simply more proof that where they were didn't matter. They could have been in an intersection in Durem, or back in the forest, it didn't matter.
"Well..."
His toe slid under the crossguard at his feet and flicked it up into the air. His left hand caught the hilt easily and fluidly turned the path of the weapon into a swipe at the ground behind his left side. The bones changed path suddenly and swerved around Joshua's right side before peppering the wall of the cave; caught up in a brief whirlwind that had sent them astray.
"...it looks like you've learned something already."
Flipping the flat of his sword up onto his shoulder casually, Joshua continued a few more paces away from where Ryugi stood beside Ragnarok.

Ryugi wiped a little blood away from his mouth with his left hand as his right gripped the handle of Ragnarok, the blade pulsing gently with energy as the pair was joined again. Despite the beating he huffed a grin, his red eyes shining as he and the blade came together again. So it does...
Let's see what else we can do! Let's go, Ragnarok!

Release your strength and we'll fight together! As if called out by Ryugi's cry, a pulse of energy shot from the blade, a powerful aura of energy surging around Ryugi's form as the blade charged Ryugi's body with energy directly, granting him greater strength, speed, agility, and stamina as Ragnarok glowed with a bright white light. Joshua, who could likely feel the strength increase, would notice that it wouldn't be a massively powerful upgrade, but it was still a significant boost. What would this allot Ryugi? Well, even Ryugi didn't know...yet...

Ryugi didn't know... yet...
"Damn, what is it with you people and making things shine like that? It's bothersome," the Reaper remarked back, seeming rather unimpressed with the whole transformation. The boy seemed to be enveloped in Ragnarok's spiritual power, and he reeked of magic even worse than before because of it.
Other than the lightshow, it wasn't remarkably inspiring... there were far more exponential increases out there than this seemed to have been. There would still have to be another test of it all before they would know exactly what it was worth, but from where he stood in that frozen cave that was lit by the out-of-control glowing of one Angaran, it seemed like-
"A dud."
Rubbing his tongue along the inside of his cheek and spitting blood onto the ground, Joshua crouched and pulled a sword out from among the rocks; slinging it over his right shoulder.
"...on second thought..."
Standing, he took a look back at the aura that had enveloped Ryugi and shook his head.
"...maybe I'd just gotten my hopes up."

I distinctly remember the girl telling you to take care of things here, not complain about your own expectations.
Ryugi's eyes narrowed and he cracked his neck, his right hand tightening on Ragnarok's handle. He smirked a bit. Was the light too bright for Joshua? Good. At least he might find something else to complain about. The Reaper's superior attitude was beginning to annoy him. Not good enough this, a failure that, wasn't cut out for such and such. Was he really that stupid? Maybe his servitude to such a powerful being had clouded his brain after all the years.
Regardless, Ryugi could feel the boost in strength that Ragnarok's energy had added to his form. It was significant, but at the same time, it wasn't as powerful as he'd expected. True, Ragnarok's spiritual form was still young, but even still, Ryugi felt it contained great power. Much more than he felt right now. And something told him that if he was to make full use of Ragnarok's power, he'd need to figure out how. But only Ragnarok knew that. Course the sword wasn't talking, but then again, the only time Ryugi had gotten help from the weapon was when he'd asked for it. Perhaps that was the key to the sword's real power. Ryugi would have to ask for it...

"Hmm?"
He didn't need to respond to that. The kid knew only what he'd heard, and nothing more than that. What he'd heard from her, and what he'd heard from him. They could both have been lying to him from the start, making this whole thing a cosmic joke. Or they could have been saying nothing but the harsh truth, and Ryugi really was a soft, worthless excuse for a warrior.
It might have explained how it came to be that only seconds after Ryugi had recovered his Ragnarok, Joshua stood before him holding the Sol Blade in his hand; getting it all dirty with fingerprints and things like that. Ryugi was a swordsman that couldn't seem to hold onto his sword.

Unfortunately it didn't explain anything. Either Joshua was some magical pixie that teleported Ryugi's sword out of its sheath, or he could magically create weapons out of thin air... Ryugi hadn't dropped Sol Blade when Joshua kicked him, because Ryugi hadn't drawn the weapon from its sheath, so the Reaper simply COULDN'T have it. Ryugi didn't need to DRAW Sol Blade in order to make use of the weapon's anti-magical abilities. All he had to do was grip the handle and he could channel energy through the blade to unleash its power. The blade's sheath didn't prevent the energy from being expelled either. Joshua may have had a sword in his hands, but it couldn't, and wouldn't, be Sol Blade. Ryugi grinned at Joshua's lack of response. He wasn't quite sure what Joshua still wanted with him. Ryugi was pretty sure he understood how Ragnarok's abilities could be drawn upon now, but Joshua still persisted... What did he want? Did he want Ryugi to reach a higher state of power with Ragnarok? Did he want Ryugi to beat him in combat? Or was be just dicking around for his own reasons? After all, he'd said he might have gotten his hopes up. Either way, Ryugi was going to see what Ragnarok could offer. He'd been able to hold off Joshua well enough during the tournament, but wasn't able to injure him significantly even with a point-blank limit release. Even now, he'd failed to deliver a severe blow, even after Joshua had delivered several hits to Ryugi. Ryugi's problem wasn't skills alone. He had enough to hold off the man with acceptable success, but he lacked the power to deal any serious damage without the man practically allowing himself to be struck. Perhaps he needed more power to overcome this monster of a man... Ragnarok... I know you can hear me, and right now, I need as much power as you can give me. Together we have more than enough power to defeat this foe, I know it. We've always fought as a team, and this battle is no different! Together we can do this! We can win! Our light together will shine brighter than any darkness that opposes us! Ragnarok!!

Shine and cut through the darkest night!! Quote: -Warrior of Changing Fate- Command - "Ragnarok!! Shine and cut through the darkest night!!" The Warrior Form of Ragnarok, representative of Ryugi's warrior side and righteous heart. In this form Ragnarok's power is merged with Ryugi's own, and the two fight with magnificent power to change the outcome of the battle for the better. While in this form, all of Ryugi's stats are increased dramatically, except for his defense which does not increase. This gives Ryugi the chance to overpower his foes at the cost of his own safety. While under the influence of this form, Ryugi's body glows with a bright blue-white aura. Soul-sight will reveal Ragnarok's form joined with Ryugi's as their spirits fight together. With a thunderous pulse of energy, the massive spirit that had been looming near Ryugi would suddenly appear behind him, his form glowing before merging with Ryugi's own body, the power from the draconic form surging through Ryugi's body, amplifying every facet of his being to levels never before reached. If Joshua was irritated by the light before, this wouldn't be any better for him as Ryugi's body now glowed with a blue-white light, and if the Reaper could feel the energy, as he likely could, he would sense the incredible boost as being several times more significant than the previous boost. The energy literally surged around Ryugi's form as his body strained to contain it all, Ragnarok's own power being used to assist him. Joshua had wanted a fight, had wanted Ryugi to show him what he could do, and now, he was going to get it. This time...
The Warrior and The Weapon truly were fighting as one...

Okay, so picking up where we left off...
Apparently Kazamaru didn't have to draw the Sol Blade in order to make his crazy anti-magic blasts, and only had to touch it and shout something loudly. That explained away the reason why at no point the sword was mentioned having been sheathed or held onto when the dragon-man went flying across the cave.
It also explained the reason why the Reaper was holding a large piece of fragmented bone that looked suspiciously like a sword.
Oh, retcon lulz.
...and now for something completely different...
"Well..."
Joshua stretched his neck a bit, fished around his mouth with the tip of his tongue, and spat a mix of saliva and blood onto the ground. In all honesty he didn't look that perfect, himself; his shirt was practically nonexistent after it had burst into flames, and in addition to the blood from the fresh wound his body was still streaked with dried rivulets from when the child had broken his body in the forest.
"...you seem to be getting the hang of it already."
(( Cutting this short since I have to run right now. XP ))
